I doubt that kid has seen or heard the news or heard what his uncle and family members are saying about him. He probably wasn't 100% positive that they had an ID on him. He's been on the run and hiding for almost 20 hours, not to mention the fact that his brother was subdued/killed and he ran over him.

Unless of course he's been looking in through people's homes watching television sets or has a lap top keeping up to date with all the sites, blogs, etc.
