Boston Marathon Terror Attack - Part 2

Probably more directed to the news outlets jumping the gun on a lot of stuff the last week.
This. At least it SHOULD be this. All this week the news outlets have been trying to outdo twitter, reporting ANY reports instead of investigating them.

Is there actually video of the suspects putting the bombs down? I didn't follow any of this until now.
Sounds like the FBI doesn't but may not release them out of respect for the victims' families. Plus, they'd likely use them in any trial against the suspect if he survives his injuries.

I'm reading so much ignorant **** on the internet right now. It's pissing me off a lot.
I'm actually on the opposite end. I haven't really seen anything on social media about this and that's pissing me off. It's probably because its a friday night in NYC and the weather is getting warmer, but all I see is everyone posting pics of themselves partying and talking about getting drunk, and no its not to celebrate this.

If anyone feels sympathy for this kid...even if he was pressured by his brother...just look at those younger children, and young adults and adults in that picture from the marathon, at least one of whom is no longer alive, and the rest that are scarred (and much worse) for the rest of their lives just moments after the pic.

Just have a look at what was and will never be again because of what happened.

I disagree. Its ok if you feel some small amount of sympathy for the kid. That just makes you human and a better one than this kid. Even Anne Frank believed everyone was good deep down and she would've been a Belieber.

I've never seen 24, but I just saw this tweet and thought it was hilarious.

Remember when you watched 24 and you were like, “how can all that **** happen in one day?”

That is so true! :lmao:

A TRUELY chilling photo

Unbelievable

In the early hours of this morning, people were posting information from police scanners that may have hindered the search. When the suspect was mis-indentified as the Brown University student, people were bombing the family's FB page, calling their son a terrorist.

People did try to help, but in many ways, they weren't helping.
It was almost 50/50. Some wanted to help catch the suspects, while others wanted someone to vent their anger at.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Obama and Putin meet.

With the reveal that one of the victims IDed him when he was placing the bomb, I wonder how they will factor into things.

Boston Police just poured cooler full of clam chowder on the chief's head

:funny:

He should have his Miranda rights read to him by his uncle.

Not sure that'll impact anything. Think the gov't wants as strong of a case as possible and it'd be better to keep some cards close to the vest.

Miranda rights

Beginning several hours before Tsarnaev’s capture, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wrote on Twitter that the suspect ought to be placed in military custody.
“If captured, I hope Administration will at least consider holding the Boston suspect as enemy combatant for intelligence gathering purposes,” Graham wrote Friday afternoon. “The last thing we may want to do is read Boston suspect Miranda Rights telling him to ‘remain silent.’”
“The Law of War allows us to hold individual in this scenario as potential enemy combatant w/o Miranda warnings or appointment of counsel,” the senator added later in the evening. “I hope the Obama Administration will seriously consider this option….The goal is to gather intelligence and protect our nation which is under threat from radical Islam.”
The Obama administration appeared to be taking a middle course, holding off on advising Tsarnaev of his rights, but still directing him into the criminal justice system for prosecution.
During a news conference shortly after the suspect was captured, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Carmen Ortiz did not directly confirm that the suspect was not read his rights. However, she said the law allows for exceptions. “There is a public-safety exemption in cases of national security and potential charges involving acts of terrorism,” Ortiz said.
However, when Ortiz said her office would “continue to evaluate and file our formal charges,” she also seemed to imply that Tsarnaev would face justice in a civilian federal court.

I wonder if the father is planning to make his way to the States to "clear his sons' name."

Or at least be by his son's side since he might be dying.
I'm surprised to read now that he's so injured, when earlier they had said he wasnt escorted out in an ambulance when hey caught him, and that appeared to be a sign he wasnt injured seriously.

The big question is his health and whether he could be Miranda-rized.

I think you read him his rights and just go forward. Why would you want to open up that can of worms now?

He should have his Miranda rights read to him by his uncle.
I think his uncle would make him regret not killing himself. :funny:

In all seriousness though, there was someone blasting the media this morning because they put someone like the uncle on TV who was verbally assaulting the suspects. They said in an instance where they might be dealing with someone who may be armed with explosives, that's not a wise thing.

Miranda rights

The thing about that is, we're assuming a lot. I mean, unless they have evidence linking them to some sort of terrorist group, there's no reason to hold him as an enemy combatant.

Unless he talks about others being involved, I say just try him as a civilian and throw his butt away in jail.
