Amazing Spider-Man Extra- PICK OF THE WEEK! Man, this might as well just be an artist showcase. Sure, the stories are pretty fun, but Bachalo, Martin and Olliffe? That's just a great stable of talent. The main story feels kind of like filler, but Bachalo nails it very well. The Harry story is brief, but a nice little tale of two friends. The third is probably the best. Guggenheim (a former lawyer) has probably been dying to write this little ditty with some more Matt Murdock and Spider-Man interaction. Now I'm pretty interested to read the story. 9/10

Wolverine- Man, what an off-beat story. It's crazy, but I like it. I really hope Millar goes more into detail on how all of this happened. 8/10

Ultimate Spider-Man- Great art as always. Loved how Peter kept calling the Beetle "Fett". Nice, Bendis. One question:
How is Fury here?
8/10

When I saw your review earlier, I thought, "Oh, come on. I didn't even hear of this thing." But you nailed it. That was probably the best comic I read this week. Maybe this month. All three stories had me wanting more.

Another comic (that I had dropped a while ago, but picked up because of the SI tie-in) that surprised me was Black Panther. Not the best thing I ever read, but an entertaining "war" story.

Nick Fury should not be showing up in any Ultimate comics. Period. There is no excuse. I don't read Ultimate and I know that.

Agreed. "Old Man Logan" has a very interesting vibe of The Road Warrior meets Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven.

In fact, every time I look at old Logan, I'm picturing Eastwood.

Great art, great dialog.

To bad Logan and Hawkeye's cross-country route isn't going to take them down into Florida around the Tampa bay area, as shown on the GPS map last issue. :cwink:

I'm guessing this discussion surrounds Ultimate Fury being in another universe, ever since Ultimate Power right? Well Bendis wrote Ultimate Power and so yes he does make up his own continuity. And he can. If it isn't explained in this arc it will be explained in ultimatum/ ultimate origins. Have faith, young padawans. Explanation there will be.

I frankly don't give a **** if it's explained later or not, and he wasn't the only writer on Ultimate Power and Ultimate Fury is a integral to the Squadron Supreme relaunch so no, it's not going to make any sense however they choose to explain it.

The "War of the Symbiotes" arc in USM is part-flashback, hence Fury's appearance.

What happened to Fury in the Ultimate verse? I only read USM...

Say what you will about how awful it normally is but Teen Titans was pretty good.

Beetle/Red Devil make a pretty good pair, and could easily become (which it seems they're pushing) this generation Blue/Gold team.

Blue Beetle #29: I just started buying this title, and I'm not disappointed. It's nice that this issue has loads to help a new reader catch up to speed. The dialogue's fluid and well-written, and I can see why some compare Jaime to what Peter Parker used to be like. Overall, it's a nice balance between fun and food for thought. I'll be buying more issues, to be sure.

Skaar: Son of Hulk #2: After seeing the preview of #1 on Newsrama, I decided to check this out. Skaar's sparse in dialogue besides some RAARGH's, but the people around him provide good commentary to make up for it. Garney's take on the action's pretty awesome; the panel where [blackout]three dragons attempt to torch Skaar[/blackout], in particular, rocked. Pak doesn't forget Planet Hulk at any point, and gives this an even stronger "Conan the Barbarian" angle than that storyline. I'm interested in seeing how the "Sakaarson/Worldbreaker" mythos with Hulk and Skaar will be developed.

Yeah I just read the issue myself. It clearly says "months ago". Bendis is gooood.

Haha @ the Bendis bashing that proved to not be a mistake. :hehe:

What you said is true in most cases, but this was pretty funny. :p

Wait, it said "Months ago"? How long exactly is months ago, because if it's "3 months ago" he still ****ed up.

Just saying.

It still doesn't prove he isn't a hack writer who can't write anything without flashback-shoehorning. And his idea of continuity still sucks.

"Um Bendis, you guys sent Fury to the Squadron Supreme universe remember?"

"Oy! Just put many months ago on the top of the page."

He plotted this story years ago for the USM video game, so it's probably not quite like that.

Yeah, and many years ago he probably wasn't planning on sending Fury to Squadron Supreme right?:o
