Bought/Thought 7/30

Wouldn't it be easier to just admit that you were wrong? God knows you guys ***** that Bendis doesn't do it.

I will admit that I'm wrong, when I'm actually wrong. Unless you still believe Jigsaw can break Spider-Man's arm.

In most cases, Bendis has a strange and not always consistant way of storytelling, but in this one instance, it was just a flashback, that in no way messes up what they did in the other mini.

I think Fury leaving with them was stupid anyways.

Secret Invasion Thoughts:

Ms. Marvel #29: Not a bad issue...but, also, nothing that makes you go WOW. You get lots of Ms. Marvel vs. Skrull action, while Agent Sum and Ms. Marvel try to get a bus load of New Yorkers safely to The Raft and away from the Skrull Invasion. 7/10

On a side note, while reading this book I really noticed that Marvel really was selling their other books really well. There were a good 5 full-page ads promoting other books; and, I think besides the front and back covers, only 2 ads featuring other sources. Quite a difference from a couple years ago, where almost half of Marvel's comics were filled with ads.

Black Panther #39: For years and years, Wakanda has bragged that throughout their entire history, they've never been conquered by an outside invader. This time, though, the invading army is the Skrulls, and Wakanda is ready. This is so much better than the invasion we've been seeing in other books; mainly because it shows the Skrulls aren't going into the fight, willy-nilly and gung-ho. Instead, they are thoughtful, like playing a game of Chess with a true, worthy opponent. This is a very good issue, possibly even the best Black Panther issue in it's entire 39-issue run. The art looks good, the dialogue is very well written...heck, this writer even had the sense to make sure Ororo is by his side. 10/10

Secret Invasion-Fantastic Four #3: Before I talk about this issue, I want to point out one of the great things about Marvel Comics that DC just sucks at. How great is Marvel for giving us an opening page that explains everything that has gone on before, either catching up new readers or those of us who might has forgotten exactly what has happened before. Sure, many times I don't need this...but, there are instances where it does help quite a bit.

This issue was kind of a neat, little read. I'm not sure a lot of readers would feel the same way; but, if you've been following the adventures of the Fantastic Four since 1990, you might have the same appreciation for seeing Lyja again, especially since after Heroes Reborn, she was pretty much all but forgotten. So, after all these years, the relationship between Johnny and Lyja gets a somewhat wrap-up. 8/10

Ah, classic re-direction. I believe we were talking about the current issue of USM.

Please. I'll be critical of Bendis when he deserves it.

Deserves...

The hell?...

What...

So, you mean...

Uh yeah...

But come on, you guys jumped the gun. Just admit it, and move on.

^ Remember that response, ladies and germs, the next time you start a whine-fest about how this creator or that won't just own up to a mistake. Because either will you.

I haven't been proven wrong though. The fact that he wrote this story many moons ago for a video game just adds to my argument.

Spidey Thoughts:

Spider-Man-With Great Power...#5: Just when this title couldn't get any worse...it does. How many retelling's of Spidey's origin do we need, and every once in a while, someone has to feel like there are some blanks in the story that need filling in. This is most definitely the worst! All of this is before Uncle Ben gets wacked, and focuses quite a bit on Peter's wrestling days. Did I need to see an underage Peter Parker bumpin' uglies with some older woman??!!?? It kind of takes away from the innocence we remember him being, longing over Liz in those classic Spidey comics. It also shows him being a hero and being worried about others before his realizing that "with great power comes great responsibility" after Uncle Ben's death. This is just utter crap, needing to be buried with "The Other" storyline. 2/10

Spider-Man-Brand New Day-Extra!: Three all new tales, the most exciting and relevant being the first. Taking up the first half of the issue, it tells of Hammerhead's origin, and lets us know of his rebirth since his death during Civil War, all leading up to his upcoming reappearance in Amazing Spider-Man 575. I love Bachalo's art, and this story has me excited for October to come.

The second story is pretty much a throw away. Harry gets bent out of shape with Peter acting like he's disrespecting him. In the end, they make up. blah blah blah.

The third has a lose tie-in with a future Spidey story coming in Amazing Spider-Man #582. In this, Spider-Man is in court, being represented by Matt Murdock, when a lawyer with a Civil Case demands that Spidey be unmasked. We have some classic Spidey humor, and the story doesn't take itself too seriously.

The only bad story is the second one, and it slightly brings down this book's score. But, definitely read this for the Hammerhead one. 8/10

But isn't the lack of ads why comics are steadily increasing in price?

Bendis is the only writer who can get bashed on the Hype for ****ing up when he didn't actually **** up.

Darth, if your only argument is about how Bendis screwed up like 4 years ago when Jigsaw broke Peter's arm, then this is like a school yard fight. Get a new argument, this is bad comedy.

Christ, you people act like the paparazzi that salivate waiting for the next moment Britney Spears ****s up. It's like blood in the water.

Hey *******, you started this by not actually reading the issue you supposedly read.

I'm just finishing this.

X-Thoughts

Wolverine Origins #27: Daken's origin concludes, and Daniel Way actually makes this character a little more interesting. Last year, one of Marvel's lowlights was both Wolverine titles, but they seem to have gotten better of late. I hated Daken the first moment he arrived on the scene, but this and the last issue have slightly made up for this bad character. (Did we need another child of Wolverine??) His origin was well told, and the new direction for him on the last page is better than having him just focused on revenge. 7/10

Wolverine #67: Hawkeye and "Old Man Logan" continue their journey to the other side of the county to deliver their mysterious cargo in the Spidey-Buggy. So far, after two issues, it looks like Millar is telling one of the best Wolverine stories I've read in ages. McNiven's art really works well with this tale, and I'm having a blast reading it. I loved Hawkeye's ruthlessness with the Ghost Riders...and, Wolverine's passiveness will only be rewarded when he (hopefully) goes berzerker later in this story. 10/10

X-Men First Class #14: I hated, absolutely couldn't stand, this series when the first volume came out. But, in the past 8 issues, it's only gotten better and better. It's great to see Classic Machine Man (I HATE the Nextwave version), and the books having a good mix of humor and action. Plus, there are some recurring storylines that are going throughout various issues, like Angel currently being away from the team, that add to the interest to keep reading the comic. 7/10

Marvel Spotlight-Uncanny X-Men 500 Issue Celebration: This is a really nice issue of Marvel Spotlight, focusing on the various eras in X-Men history, starting with Stan Lee and ending with Messiah Complex and Uncanny X-Men #500. 8/10

I still have to read one last X-title, the X-Men One-Shot, Odd Men Out...but, it's lunch time.

Name calling? Is that really the best you've got? I expected better of you.

See, I actually admitted that I made a mistake. You still choose to ramble on about how a writer screwed up when he didn't. You can keep your "I hate Bendis anti-fan club card" and still admit you're wrong.

Internet logic.

He wrote the story years ago, at that time I highly doubt he knew Nick Fury was being shipped out so he had to make some changes.

Ahh I see where you coming from.

However the game takes place roughly before the hobgoblin arc so from a nick fury perspective the continuity would be consistant as lots of the arc would be a flashback anyway owing to its earlier timeline. Therefore regarding nick fury no changes required.

How long have you been on the Hype, and you expected Darth to not resort to name calling??!!?? Really, I expected better of you.

I'm simply surprised that calling me an ******* was the best thing he could come up with. The reason I don't frequent the Hype the way I used to is because of stuff like that. I love good debate, but I'd rather post elsewhere if the best someone can do is call me an ******* like some giggling fifth grader.

But I called you an ******* in a good way. Like the way you would call your best pal an *******.
