Bought/Thought for 9/12/07; SPOILERS

I meant after it ends. Take up the void Aquaman leaves in my list.

And there are two issues :(

Yes, the last two Aquaman readers in a sea of haters :(

There's always trustyside-kick, too. We three Aquafans against the world.

I'm one, too. I've just kept silent because all my reviews would probably be like Dread's during his "I hate USM but still buy it" period. And really, one person doing that is more than enough. I'm hopeful after seeing Orin back to human form and in water form....at least, I hope thats' something good.

I don't understand.

His body didn't look like the squid thingy he was before but it was now made of water. Since I have fond memories of Obsidian Age, where we saw a water form Orin, it makes me hopeful something good might happen.

Oh, I thought you meant flesh-and-blood when you said he was back to "human form," so the water form thing right after that confused me. Yes, I would love to see an all-water Orin, especially if he were made of water from the Secret Sea. The JLA's magic deficiency would officially be a thing of the past.

I just read NA #34

you guys are crazy if you think Strange/Night Nurse's relationship is all dirty and impure. Wash my eyes, oh Lord!:whatever:

It was totally fine and barely "adult" at all. Grow up:o

I don't recall anyone saying it was impure. I just don't think Bendis wrote it as well as Vaughan did. To be fair, Vaughan got the flirty, coy starting point of the relationship while Bendis got them when they're obviously a little ways into the relationship, which is never as fun as the beginning.

I hate BKV for going Hollywood on us. :(

It's so sad The Oath didn't sell well. I don't understand how people can let such fantastic stories pass them by.

I never write letters (email, snailmail or otherwise) to ANYONE. But I actually wrote a pretty lengthy email to BKV applauding him for The Oath.

He probably blocked your e-mail address and sits wide-eyed by his window at night with a baseball bat now.

Nah, he wrote back thanking me for the support. I made some comments about Martin's amazing artwork and he sent me along some character design work he did in preparation.

Really I was just hoping he'd get a lot of mail about the series and convince Marvel to let him take a shot at an ongoing.

Yeah, I suppose. In that case, I hate Hollywood for stealing him away.

Suicide Squad #1 (of 8): I LOVE how this comic slips so seamlessly back to the old days of the SS. Yes, I know it's supposed to be a "flashback" story. It also brings back some of the characterization that made me like some of these characters so much and dislike what they're doing with them now. Amanda Waller as a tough as nails woman instead of the tottering on being a villainess b!t¢h they've turned her into after DC apparently decided to follow JLU's lead. Boomerang's shenanigans while still being a deadly mofo. An effective Nightshade that wasn't just a Green Lantern with black energy knockoff. Awesome. New readers coming into this will probably be lost. Ok, let's be honest, they WILL be lost and start their whole "DC is so complex" whiny crap. The writing is still top notch and the art...hehehehehe. I'd like Photojones to see the art and shut the f- up about DC and it's supposed crappiness in art. And, yes, that includes the coloring.

I'm looking forward to the other issues of this run. I honestly don't know if it's all about the past adventures of the Squad or if it's going to jump to the present at some point in time. I'd love it if we saw the cast from this first issue (with Boomerang Jr. of course) in a modern mission.

I read Suicide Squad at lunch today. I actually thought it was going to be a modern story with the new Squad, but I was still pleased with what I got. I haven't read any of the Suicide Squad's older comics, but I've always liked Bronze Tiger and Deadshot and the Wall. This was a great primer for the upcoming "Fall of the Wall" arc in Checkmate, and it was just good in general on its own merits.
