Yeah, he's great. Better than I remembered, in fact. I could see him kicking major ass as a replacement for Cheung on a new Young Avengers series.

Eh. Cheung wasn't too well-known when he got YA. It might be possible.

Granted, we need to actually get a new YA series before any talk of artists can start. I can't wait for those one-shots. I'm fiendin' like a crack ****e.

Cheung had established himself before YA. He had done some high profile work for Marvel in the past, before leaving for CrossGen, where he really honed his craft.

I thought he only did a few fill-ins for Marvel here and there before YA.

No, he had a pretty lengthy stint on X-Force. He also did that Maverick series and a few issues of Force Works.

Oh yeah, I remember him on Maverick and X-Force. I don't think I read Force Works regularly. I always thought it was lame that they were forced to change their name from the West Coast Avengers and picked up weird elements like Century and War Machine and US Agent's new costumes.

I never read Force Works, either. I did read that Maverick series, and I remember liking it pretty well.

I was never much of a Maverick fan. I somehow got him confused with Nomad a lot when I was younger, too.

That's weird. Maverick's all gold and stuff. The series was pretty cool. It was basically a spy/quasi-political thriller type book.

It was nothing on par with Checkmate or Captain America, but it was a good book. It entertained my 14 year old self.

Did he meet Bolt of the really bad, early '00s New Warriors relaunch in it? I remember Bolt somehow coming to idolize Maverick, but I never knew how or when they met.

He dressed up as Maverick in Frank Tieri's Weapon X series and got killed. So, really, he doesn't matter at all and never did. I was just curious.

I don't remember a Bolt. Mostly, the situations Maverick found himself in were somehow tied to his past in the CIA with Logan and Creed. There wasn't much room for any New Warriors.

Forced:huh:

Immortal Iron Fist #11 - This was yet another great issue, I loved the reunion with Danny, Luke Cage and the girls from Heroes for Hire. The HYDRA take down scene was awesome. I loved the flashbacks of Davos and knowing more about him. His fight with Tiger's Beautiful Daughter was awesome and he really has changed. I like that he's known as "Steel Phoenix" now, very coo. Kano art on the flashback was also superb. The scene were the SHRA is mentioned and Luke and the Heroes for Hire say there working together was great. And finally it was said. I liked Danny's and Misty's scence together, it was great to see them talking and having a moment of their own. At last, Danny returns to the tournament and the battle royale will hopefully start soon! Can't wait for #12.

9/10

Didn't the main Avengers pretty much shut down the West Coast Avengers?

Really? I had stopped collecting WCAvengers by the time Force Works came around and was never into the main Avengers at the time...

Yeah, the main Avengers shut them down for some reason or another. I don't remember the specifics, but I do remember that it gave me one of my absolute favorite covers ever:

What the hell is Cap doing, offering his hands up for handcuffs?

He's being firm and putting his foot down, metaphorically, with his fists.

Shut up, that cover's great. :o
