BOUGHT/THOUGHT for Aug. 2th, 2006. SPOILERS WITHIN!!

just read Y The Last Man... they're pushing flashbacks way more than necessary. it's starting to feel a little too much like Lost. they should get to the present day action, dammit, there's only 12 issues left!

Step into the liiiiight! ;)

my LCS forced me to do a pull because the stupid guy who owns the shop doesnt know anything about comics and doesnt listen to his clearks and vastly underorders books. They had saved my 52 and MK knowing I'd read those books

I'm wolfing up DC trades right now with great results.
If you can find it, get a copy of Orion by Walter Simonson - they only put the first 5 issues in trade. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled at #25. Arg. Good stuff.

well the owner of my LCS isnt a comic book reader or a fan...i dont know how or why he decided to open a comic and on top of that he is deeply religious and while that doesnt bother me he doesnt order books that go against his beliefs.....the clerks are always ordering books behind his back and upping the orders on books like 52 and Civil War

Sucks, what pisses me off are these Civil War tie-ins. I always got X-factor on time because no one bought it, slap a tie-in banner on it, now I get it 2 weeks late. I always got FNSM on time, slap the un-masking banner on it, I get it late, same with SHe-Hulk and Fantatsic 4. Pisses me off, ****ing badnwagon fans.

they had to save me a copy of 52 this past week and that was what caused them to make me create a pull list

SIAT's funkalicious week of comics! 8-2-06

MARVEL TEAM UP # 23 -- Another good issue. Loved Aunt May yelling at Wolverine for drinking out of the milk carton, haha. It was awesome to have half this book drawn by a decent artist. But then I got pissed when Kuhn took over with the Freedom Ring stuff. Man, is Kuhn's art just terrible...it seriously takes away from the story to me...yeah, it's that bad. 7.5/10

MOON KNIGHT # 4 -- Faces being ripped off and reapplied. The Profiler being one interesting mofo. The balance between Moon Knights past and the present. Dave Finch's much improved artwork. Taskmaster busting through a window and OWNING Spector like it was a walk through the park. Yes, this is getting really good now. Moving a BIT slowly but at least it's not Bendis pacing. Heh. 8/10

Y THE LAST MAN # 48 -- Pretty decent issue. Pretty much all this issue turned out to be was a big history lesson on the character Alter. She's probably my least favorite character out of this series, so this really wasn't that much of an exciting read for me. I'm beginning to realize that this might have been better to stick with in a trade paper back type of thing. But I'm going to stick with the single issues and hopefully I'll get some more Yorick and Agent 355. 7.5/10

THE PUNISHER # 36 -- Conclusion to Barracuda. I liked this arc at first but as it went on it kind of got a little boring. Not enough Frank I guess. But this last issue made it all worth it as basically every bad mofo got eaten up by the sharks and the only one to survive it all was, of course, The Punisher. Excellent ending. 8.5/10

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN # 11 -- Well, at least me and Peter David read Spider-Man/Black Cat miniseries, heh. The new Mysterio is Francis Klum, good to see it followed up on, but there is a second Mysterio WATCHING Klum. Hmmm. Peter resigns as a teacher, but promises to finish out the day and his other activities. And he also nails Flash with a dodge ball, Spidey style, heh. Though the second Mysterio is awesome and the big mystery is...who is it? Beckhart? The dead Quentin Beck? Or possibly a new wildcard player? Good issue all around. 8.5/10

DETECTIVE COMICS # 822 -- Another great one shot by Paul Dini. My biggest complaint was the half assed, cliched "Oh Riddler doesn't remember Bruce is Batman because of selective amnesia, blah blah blah". I thought Dini was better than THAT. But he made up for it through the rest of the issue with Riddler thinking he solved the murder, but really Batman further pursued it and OWNED THE HELL out of the real murderer the way only Batman can do. And, the newly reformed, Riddler is left pissed knowing that Batman is always one step ahead. 8.5/10 - loses points for the crappy retcon

52 WEEK 13 -- Mostly focuses on Ralph at the Cult of Conner event where they are trying to resurrect his wife. The other heroes convince him that it's obviously smoke and mirrors. Ralph decides to crash the party...and it turns out it wasn't really smoke and mirrors, but possibly the real deal. Ralph is left pretty much how he was at Identity Crisis. Man, I feel bad for that dude, I really hope he gets some redemption through this series. And Black Adam...well, I think this dude should watch his back because I think Isis is gonna stab him in it. Another good week for this awesome series. 9/10

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN # 98 -- WHEW! Ultimate Spider-Woman is NOT Mary Jane. Thank you, Jesus. And thank you, Tom Cruise. Heh. The two biggest revelations of this issue was the return of Gwen Stacy, obviously a clone, but maybe Bendis can redeem himself to some USM fans who were upset over her death. Also, the fact that MJ is being held in a containment cell, by a Peter Parker clone, and it's in the Oscorp building. Truly intense. A much better issue than the first part, and sets up the intensity levels that are need for this story arc. Mark Bagley is on fire, as usual. 9/10

Overall, another excellent week of comic book reading. Disappointed that Marvel Team Up will end with one of the worst comic artists EVER. But other than that...everything looks damn good.

I actually really like the pacing of moon knight at the moment. I've never read the character prior to this series and it seems like it's being used as an introduction to new fans, isn't the pacing just right for that purpose?

I hate you.

I just want the full story of Civil War :(

X-Factor and She-Hulk are actually pretty good books. One of my friends actually subscribes to it so I'll be reading his copies once it is over. But for some reason, I just don't want to purchase them outside of Civil War :(

I'm a fairly new reader of Moon Knight as well. It just feels to me that it could move along a little bit faster. But as I said, there are a lot of other writers out there who REALLY move things along at a snails pace and this isn't even close.

Ive been a long time Moon Knight reader and the pacing isnt bothering me at all.
