Bought / Thought July 19 2007.

Modok's 11 looked like a lot of fun, but I'm totally trade-waiting on that.

Leftovers:

Captain America #28 - This title is officially review proof. Because I'm lazy, I'm not going to recap the issue which is pretty much the only way to review a book like this. So yeah...another perfect issue.

Annihilation Conquest: Quasar #1 - This is considerably better than the first issue of Wraith, thank God. Gage is a very competent writer and his uses of past continuity are refreshing. The story is moving at a good pace, although I would've like to have found out who the "savior" is in this issue. Hopefully it won't be a last minute reveal in #4, leading into the AC mini itself. I like these "pre-quel" minis to have a complete story in and of themselves rather then completely existing to serve the larger story.

Super-Villian Team-Up: MODOK'S 11 #1 - Hmm...not as good as I'd have hoped, but still completely enjoyable and fun to look at. The premise isn't original, but the goofy tone makes up for it. I think it was Dread who mentioned it's hard to really take a character design like MODOK seriously anyway, and that seems to be the whole, point of the mini. The art is pretty good. Portela's pencils mixed with Guru-EFX's colors are like a poor man's McNiven/Hollowell, which means it's better looking than the artwork in a lot Marvel or DC's books. Not a bad effort, and I'll be picking up the rest of the series.

But there was no Red Skull, therefore it couldn't be as good as previous issues. :(

Hey, if an old guy in a mask is your type, who am I to argue? Although, for myself, I'll take a pretty redhead in tight leather.

I'm not judging you, don't worry. Not out loud, at least.

The Red Skull hasn't been in the Cap comic since the first issue. It's all in Lukin's mind. So in fact, you lose, I win and we will defeat the Nazis once again.

Is that just your interpretation? Because in the comics I've read, the Red Skull is inhabiting Lukin's body.

Same difference dude.:whatever: :o

All I know is, The Red Skull is dead, Lukin isn't. Interpret away!

You make it sound as if Lukin is crazy. The Skull used the cosmic cube to get his mind into Lukin's, so literally the consciousness of the Red Skull has been appearing in Captain America all this time, which he's basically been doing since his original body got destroyed way back when.

Yeah, so again, I win you lose.:o

Here's the difference:

a) You're saying that the Skull is dead, and that this is all in Lukin's mind. Thus, he's just a crazy man.

b) I'm saying that based on what Brubaker has written in the book and stated in interviews, the Red Skull is indeed alive and well, and that he is living inside Lukin.

Yeah, like I said, I win, the other guy loses. The Red Skull that shows up on panel is actually Lukin. Hence the inherent paradoxical existential situation that presents itself in the comic. We're saying the same thing PJ, I just used the wrong phrasing.
