Bought / Thought May 20th = Spoilers

Eh, I didn't even like the first issue, so I never read more than that.

Am I the only DC comic reader who gets instantly bored anytime another Starro storyline happens? This must be the most overused character in DC comics today, and it's the same, old boring storyline. Just because he was the JLA's first villian doesn't instantly make him interesting.

On that same note, it seems like every year, Marvel has some comic involving Fin Fang Foom.

I'm a big fan of Resident Evil. I love the video game, loved the movies, and even liked the straight-to-dvd animated movie that recently. So, it pains me to say, DO NOT pick up Wildstorm's new Resident Evil comic. I just read issues 1 & 2, and they are pure crap, nothing like the video games or movies. On a scale of 1/10, it rates about a 2! It's amazing how Wildstorm can sometimes churn out such crap, and this takes the cake. They don't stick with what fans know and love about the franchise; they just make up new, seen-it-all-before crap, and they don't even include any of the famous characters.

Oh yeah, it's terrible. But in other video game related comic news, the Gears of War series is a surprisingly decent read. I guess it went from limited to ongoing, because I wasn't expecting an issue 7. The latest issue focussed on Tai, his origins, how he knows Marcus, and what happened to him to make him blow his own head off in the game. If you are a fan of the games, you'll dig these books.

I think Gears Of War was always issued as an ongoing series wasn't it?

I thought it was a six issue mini, also. I bought the first issue and wasn't that impressed; but, I have to admit while I own the first game, I never played it that much.

I did hear it got better, though. I do know their first issue was much better than the Resident Evil one. I'm liking the Resistance comic, though. I did finish the first game, but have only played the second a little bit. (I'm a big game buyer, but I really don't play much...and, rarely finish a game. I was quite pleased I actually finished the last Mario game, though. It really wasn't that difficult, though.)

I don't recall many Fin Fang Foom stories lately, but I get what you mean about Starro. I like the character in theory, but in practice all we ever get are variants on your standard zombie/mind control story. Bedard's mixing it up a teeny, tiny bit with the different Starro types in REBELS, but it's still just a standard zombie/mind control story at its heart. I'm still reading REBELS but I have to admit, my excitement for it dropped off a bit after learning Starro was the villain.

I don't follow much DC, so I didn't know he (it?) was overused. I liked the Booster Gold story.
