But dude its not that serous to be doing that man, not even close. 10 mins by yourself in a basement, talking to a camera about a comic book you just read, I dunno man thats just alittle to far.

I'd actually be doing it on my porch with a bunch of beer and some friends talking about comics. I like comics, what can I say?

Mary saw a figure in the darkened rafters of a very high-ceilinged embassy at night. She wouldn't know exactly how the mugger flew apart anymore than we do. Plus, she might've been exaggerating.

And yes, I meant Whiz, not Charlton. Sorry about that.
You should be. GOD you should be:(.

I wish I had friends who liked comics. The only friends I have who even read comics are too pretentious to read American superhero comics. They'll talk about Ex Machina and Y to kingdom come, but bring up the last issue of Captain America or Amazing Spider-Man and they shut down.

Or they only like manga, and make fun of american comics. ****, I hate those kids.:csad:

Yes, my friends also read manga and watch like 3 anime series a day. They keep trying to get me to watch anime series, and I keep telling them I'll get to them one day, but they just keep telling me about more and more anime.

Some guy was actually trying to make the argument to me, that the art in manga is a lot better than the art in a Marvel or DC book. I slapped him. Twice.

You all should watch Bleach, it's a really cool anime.

We don't even have acne, either.

You're just overwhelmed by how much better the art is

Thoughts:

The Original Encyclopedia of Comic Book Heroes - Batman: This was a complete surprise to find in my LCS yesterday. I never heard of this book before, as it was originally released in 1976. This is an "ambitious volume, extensively researched by comic book historian Michael L. Fleisher, is a printed time capsule of the early adventures of the Caped Crusader." Each entry, presented in an "A-to-Z" style format, is very extensive in presenting information to the reader. For example, starting with page 1, I read a 2-page write up on Ace, the Bat-Hound. It gave an account of each of his adventures, listing all appearances and issue numbers. And, if Ace, the Bat-Hound, got such a big write up, just think of other people in Batman's life. Joker alone receives 16 pages devoted to him. I can't wait for the reprints of other volumes, of which is noted Vol. 2 will be Wonder Woman and Vol. 3 will be Flash. 10/10

She-Hulk #18: It's almost insulting that Marvel withheld so many comics coming out last year to appease the lateness of Civil War...yet, they give away everything that happens in this issue two weeks prior to it coming out. It definitely takes away the readers enjoyment, knowing exactly what will happen in the end. Plus, what makes Slott so good on She-Hulk is definitely missing in this issue: The wit and humor. This issue was more like Slott's Avengers. Those two things make the reader come away thinking, "It was good, but ....." 8/10

(Daughter at work today, and she's wanting to play Barbie online. More reviews to come later, definitely tomorrow.)

I wish I had friends who would talk about Y: The Last Man, I'm fed up of talking about Batman and Civil War everytime I chat to friends who read comics.

A couple years ago I bought a humongous collection of 19 large comic boxes for $500.00 that had Y, The Last Man issues 1-13 among them; but, I've never read a single issue of that book. One of these days, I keep telling myself.

Uh...I'm PM you my address right now, and pay for shipping.

Slap yourself right now, twice, then go read it.:cmad:

I only buy Y: The Last Man in trade, it's my version of Harry Potter. I'll camp out overnight at my comic book store for it.

I read it through trade too, the wait is oh so killer. Trying to avoid spoilers will be the death of me.

Honestly, I'm a huge spoiler ****e, but it's really not that hard for me to avoid spoilers. First of all, hardly anyone here reviews it when it comes out so no spoilers there, and there's no official thread for it.

We are one.

Indeed.

Wow, looking back, this may be one of my most positive review weeks ever. Some gripes about F4 but not nearly so bad. Interesting.

I just wonder how long it'll be before I log into the Hype and see the "Official Save Ant-Man From Cancellation Thread".

Too soon, I think.

Yeah, I fear it may be too soon, too. :csad:

Well, at least there's no WORD of cancellation, yet. That's gotta be worth something, right?

Touche'. Those usually come about 2-3 issues in advance. Marvel's less trigger-happy about books now than they were 2-3 years ago, but it still may be a miracle for ANT-MAN to last past #12 with sales that low. It is a cryin' shame, but, I will enjoy it while it lasts and am grateful Kirkman, Hester & Walker had the chance to introduce this quirky addition to a legacy hero.

I've been thinking about doing video reviews in addition or maybe instead of written ones. Would you guys be interested in watching something like that? Or is that just a waste of time?

Do whatever strikes your fancy. I might DL one. I actually imagined doing video reviews if I ever had some sort of digital camera and skills, like a twisted, bitter version of READING RAINBOW, but admittedly, these desires only came after watching too many ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD installments in a row. ;)

Of course, the democratic vote is about 2-1 so far for "waste of time". :p

As for the topic of "discussing comics with friends", while I have buddies that I chat comics over via AIM, in RL I have precious few. My pal Mixairian is more into anime than I am, although I do enjoy anime and have a sizable collection myself. He used to read comics but that stopped maybe 3-4 years ago. I usually come here for discussion, mostly.
