I usually don't do these, but it's rare that I get my comics before everyone else (in fact my last round of subs came late). I'll keep things in quotes until 1pm, which is when my LCBS opens their doors with brand new shiny comics. I know it annoys some people, but a couple hours of quote tags aren't going to kill anyone....

Moon Knight #7- I didn't care for this the first time I read it. But I think that has more to do with it coming out so infrequently.(And this isn't a title that I'm willing to be as patient with, if you're listening Marvel.) The second time I liked it better. Nice, but short, scene with Spidey in the begining. I would like to see it revisited a bit. MK is sort of shown as stuggling a little bit, enough that Spidey asks if he needs a hand, and violent enough that the webslinger steps in. The next day, he's shown getting out of bed with every single joint popping and snapping. Pretty funny stuff. Almost over the top. The issue ends with
a meeting with Captain America. Probably not a spoiler due to soicits.

Wolverine #50 - I almost never do reviews of things I don't like. But I will in this case since I'm starting the thread. I'm not sure what it is that I dislike so much. First off, I'm not that big on Sabretooth. The only time he's been interesting to me is in AoA or Exiles. So I've never really cared for the backstory or the battles with Wolvie. I mean, who cares? For all the bluster, they're both gonna heal, right? The other thing is the dialog. It seems like (Loeb?) is forcing generic tough-guy dialog into the word balloons. I'll let you guys be the judge. Let me know what you think about that. The one thing I did like was a retelling of Wolvie's first battle with the Hulk from Wolvie's point of view. Pretty generic stuff, but I laughed out loud at the ending. I won't spoil it, but depending on how seriously you take these things, you should get a kick out of it (i.e. it might piss some people off...)

I must say, Subs do rule. I mean Quizno's is just so awesome. FIlls me right up.

The preview pages for Wolvie kind of interested me.Haven't read the book since Millar left so I might pick this up.

That MK issue sounds pretty by the numbers.I hope there's more to it than an obvious team up with Spidey.(awaits Darth's rebuttal)

There's not. And there's no team-up either. He's just there to realize how bad-ass MK is now. He's only there for a couple of pages.

Thats why he's a guest star, not a cast member.

I don't care for Wolverine much, but I will start picking it up out of curiosity. Courious as to what Loeb has in store for the character and Sabes.

It's sad...I sell out for anything written by Jeph Loeb.:csad:

Thought I'd bump this before it went to the 2nd page. Otherwise, we'd have two duplicative threads. And that's just unacceptable.

Oh, and I picked up a bunch more, including Doc Strange, which continues to be good, and The Return (of the very first comic character I ever read), which was underwhelming. But I'll still probably buy the series/mini coming out of it.

How about some The Return spoilers, I don't get my books till Friday.

Well, I won't use spoiler tags, since it's past when a lot of people get their stuff...

I skimmed it, so other people can clarify it, but basically Captain Marvel was off meditating in the Negative Zone, and somehow got sucked through time and space to the present. He still has cancer, but he knows it now (maybe he should go visit Dr. Strange before he blows it all on Wong. I mean, c'mon, are we really ever going to see that long-delayed Wong mini?) So for him, he's been gone a few days, rather than years. I love CM, so I would've hoped that if they returned him, it would've had more involvement of Thanos, etc. But I'll see where it goes.

That seems pretty vague, hopefully that will be expanded. How did The Sentry story tie into this, if at all?

as per darth's request:

Civil War: The Return

wow...what a load of ****. to kick things off, "the return" refers to captain marvel. somehow (it's apparently not important), mar-vell ripped a hole in the space-time continuum while meditating in the negative zone and arrived in the sentry's watchtower. but it's a younger marv. this guy is seemingly the same 616 continuity captain marvel, just existing on a different timeframe. somehow before marv kicked the bucket due to cancer, he...time travelled to the present. and now here he is...

make sense? didn't think so.

anyway, he's greeted by reed, the sentry and tony. and what they do? c'mon...guess what they do to celebrate the return of the universe's greatest hero. do they fill him in about what's going on, throw a little party and ask him to join their side, thus securing their win over cap and his secret avengers? no.

they send him back to the n-zone to be the WARDEN OF THE PRISON.

make sense? didn't think so.

and the rest of the story goes on about a crisis with some bombs and a breach...blah blah blah.

now amazingly, through the bull**** that was this story, it does make for an interesting set up for stories to come. for example, captain marvel is now alive and well in our timeline again, but he knows he's going to die of cancer, and he knows when. it's just a matter of time. that's cool. also, the story ends with a tease for a new captain marvel series. that's very cool.

this came off as being...stupid. what a stupid return for one of marvel's most beloved characters.

that said, i'm buying the new series.

oh, and the second story (set towards the beginning of civil war) featured the sentry, and his contemplation of registering or not. he does.

i also bought wolverine and silent war, but i havent got around to them yet.

It seems like another Marvel attempt of doing something half-ass, then try to figure it out later.

pretty much. even the putting together of the book was half-assed. the middle pages fell out when i touched them.

So, what was the preview for the new series exactly or did they just set-up stuff?

the last page was a splash with [BLACKOUT]marv flying away, and a "coming soon: captain marvel #1!"[/BLACKOUT]
