THOUGHT:
52 #38 - A new Question? That is the question. And four horsemen of the Apokalips. 14 weeks to go!
ALL NEW HANDBOOK UPDATE #1 - I loves me some handbooks! These things are so great.
AVENGERS NEXT #5 - Speaking of great, old school style KICKS ASS in this series. A resolution to every plot point, and an all-new Avengers team formed. Not to mention the usual ass kickery one would expect. Honestly, if this doesn't garner interest in new A-Next adventures I'd be surprised.
CIVIL WAR THE RETURN - Yet another poignant death in the MU retconned away. That's right, folks...Captain Marvel is back. Apparently the well is so tapped out for original characters that this is what we've got. And then, we've got a back-up story with the boring Sentry deciding to register or not. It had nothing at all to do with the first story other than it was related to Civil War. So we get an entire issue dubbed THE RETURN and only HALF of it dedicated to said return. Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with this.
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #4 - Another good issue with the humor and action we've come to expect. If this was how a future Doc Strange series was done, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
ETERNALS #6 - Featuring Iron Man and Giant-Man WITHOUT their acting like d***s! Amazing, huh? Well, the Celestial is awake and is gonna pass judgement on the planet come sundown. So much for the Civil War, huh?
FLASH #8 - The plot in this book moves as fast as the character, which isn't a good thing. Aside from the usual cliches it just can't seem to find a direction and stick with it. And now I hear Guggenheim, who nearly decimated Wolverine in his run, is about to take over. Thinking this book is gonna be dropped.
HELLSTORM #4 - Weirdness abounds. Something about the story is just not catching me and leaves me cold.
HEROES FOR HIRE #6 - The Headmen have a Doombot and only Humbug stands in their way! No, seriously. The bigger guys are all busy with illegal high-tech arms being sold...and about to be blown up. Yup, liking this series.
INVINCIBLE #38 - Mark's buddy tries to adjust to life as a cyborg, Mark tries to make time with his girl, and then Mark decides to go and kiss another girl. Cue the drama! Still a good book, and I still need to read the first 25 issues. Dammit.
MOON KNIGHT #7 - Eh. The panels are a little better arranged this time out, but overall I don't like the new MK. He's like Batman dressed in white now. Also a little sick of dark and gritty heroes. It works for some, but not for every freakin' one under a banner. I'd enjoy a return to the fun and light days currently found in all the All-Ages books.
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #3 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this like the THIRD comic to focus on Cap and Punny fighting? Damn, that musta been some helluva fight. Also, when in the hell did that flashback take place? According to the MAX series, Punny still fought in Vietnam, unless it's been recently bumped up to the Gulf War. Cap was frozen at the end of WWII until he was found by the Avengers. Now, for Cap to be around during Nam, the Avengers woulda had to find him in the 70s, but it's been established the Marvel Universe is just under 20 years old. So I really don't know where or how these flashbacks fit into established continuity and frankly just come off like trying to make the Cap/Punny beatdown deeper than it really was.
SILENT WAR #1 - The art was horrible and the continuity is a mess. The FF are still together which means it's right before Civil War. So we got a war upon a war...they shoulda somehow integrated the Silent War into the Civil War instead of making it a separate event. Maybe they're trying for the success of Annihilation? Anyways, the ending was interesting so I'll keep on reading. For now.
SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE #14 - I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's simple, and yet keeps me wanting more. I'm very upset about McKeever becoming DC exclusive, especially since it's been revealed Felicia Hardy comes in on #17...3 issues before he leaves. This book will either be cancelled or given to an inferior writer, and that is just wrong as it's such a great book. Seriously, read it now while you have the chance. You won't have too much longer to do it.
SUPERGIRL AND THE LOSH #26 - Also a good issue, looks like the Legion bit off more than they can chew with more underground robots. Makes ya wonder just what the purpose was for those things anyways...
WISDOM #2 - WTF?! This book made about as much sense as a Bush speech. The plot and dialogue seemed to flop all over the place, not taking the time needed to effectively develop one piece of action before going to another.
WOLVERINE #50 - Nice artwork, dunno how I feel about the story yet. We'll see how Jeph handles Wolvie with memories. But I don't have much faith in following along as his stories have rarely made sense to me this past year. The back-up was proof of that as Wolvie was suddenly having a dream about Ultimate Wolvie's being torn in half by Hulk. A possible jab at UWvH being so late? (Oh, and an FYI, Mr. Loeb...Wolvie wore a costume like that a couple years ago, particularly around when they had the .25 cent comics.)
WOLVERINE ORIGINS #10 - Boy, does this suck. So yet another old time character gets offed and we got another kid gone crazy. This guy grasps continuity, he seems to have a love for characters, so why in the hell is this series SUCKING so hard?!
X-FACTOR #15 - MM's going nuts, and M and Syren are in jail in France for helping out depowered mutants! This issue was great like the series has consistently been. Good action and humor and all that fun stuff.
