In this movie Bryan got to do whatever he wanted to do, they let him film the eye shot, which wasn't even budgeted or scripted initially, but they still let him have 2.5 million.

So obviously he could pretty much do what he wanted, now i am really hoping this movie has legs, and is really successfull, however the WB execs thought this was gonna be a smash hit and even said they wanted to move on with the sequel straight away, dissmissing the origional 2009 release for 2008, this put Bryan Sunger on the spot with Logans Run, and that was the last we heard of that.

Now i think that WB may wait and do a 2009 release, but one things for sure, they may be very much involved in the sequel, Joel Silver may even be a producer since their consulting him right now.

I for one think this is good, because to be honest, Spider-Man, Batman, Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Blade, Daredevil, Electra and even Bryan Singers own X-Men have all had comic book villians.

What has Superman had, Lex Luthor, Zod who was made up and then introduced into the comics much like Harley Quinn, A dodgy looking Robot in Superman III, and Nuclear Man.

Not once in live action form have we seen a proper Superman Villian, sure Smallville is doing brainiac and lois and clark tried to with their limited tv budget but their's only so much you can do with tv, Bryan is supposed to know Superman really well more than he knew about the X-Men yet he chose to not include a supervillian in returns.

And sequel wise we probably would have got a kryptonian villian, that's great and all but we've already had that, this is why i think with the WB more hands on i think their gonna see other Superhero movies and start looking through the comics and say to bryan pick a villian or two for supes to fight, or they may even pick for him.

I'm really hoping for Lobo.

If this movie doesnt cross 200million domestically there wont be a sequel... Believe that.
If that happenes we wont see another Superman movie for a good 10 years atleast!

Well then, it's a great thing that I loved the Superman movie we got.

I should really go see this movie 96 more times and hope others follow my lead...maybe then we can guarantee a sequel....maybe

No it's not.
There will be a Brand New Superman Franchise starring: Tom Welling in seven years. The Screenplay which DOOMED SR, will be excellent in the new films.

Singer doesn't know Superman. All Singer knows is the Donner film. If you think he knows Superman after that film, he doesn't. Neither do his worthless pieces of crap dynamic writing duo Harris and Daugherty. Those two are only there because Singer dragged them along to massage his fragile ego on the set. They really don't appear to have much talent if the best they can give us is Luthor's Land scheme, and Superson.

What it comes down to, is Singer was in way over his head. He can't do a balance of strong characterization and action. He had a good plane sequence, but that's it. No villains for Superman to throw down with, and be challenged by, and he had Luthor's goons sitting around playing cards while NK was going up. His characterizations were fair at best, and he probably doesn't have what it takes to do action on Superman's level the way it should be done.

Add to the factor that his worthless team Harris and Daugherty didn't say anything to Singerman to get him to change anything, so they obviously are weak and mild and have no pull or Singer won't listen to them. Of course with the story they did, I wouldn't listen to them either.

The sequels will have a serious stench with Superson unless there is a reboot.

The low box office numbers won't affect the chances of a sequel, I'm sure that the writers and whoever directs it will not repeat the same mistakes here, and plus Brandon Routh will look older hopefully when the sequel starts.

As is the case of Hulk, that movie tanked 90% mostly because of the fake CGI, and now there is a supposed "sequel" coming to DVD.

Sure, where has that been decided? I never saw any news reports regarding that decision. You would think that would be pretty big news around here. Dumb WB execs, they should at least see how the film eventually pans out!

They will make a sequel, even if it doesn't make the money they want.

They can still make money with this franchise, so.....they'll lower the budget next time out, and that'll be that.

i wonder how much the superman franchise is WORTH? i say everyone chip in and lets buy it and make our own movie then... with deciding factors that nned to be done we all have a poll for agreement on certain parts :)

I dunno.....Post Crisis Superman is kinda an ass, isn't he?

Yeah.

If thet incorporate anything that has to do with the Post-Crisis continuity it should be Lex Luthor, not Superman.

Anyway, I don't think the B.O numbers will affect the sequel. Batman Begins didn't make this much in it's first weekend, and there are already plans for the franchise' sequel.

After seeing his potential treatment for Spiderman? Um..no.

There will be a sequel. All the cast will be back. Singer will direct, the same writers will write it.

It will be better than the first. Period.

Anyone who believes otherwise probably also believes in the tooth fairy.

The movie is doing "very good" numbers, not earth shattering, but very good. The same can be said for the reviews, the majority of reviews are "very good". My personal review, which is the only one that matters to me, is I loved it, I could complain and nitpick, but i'd rather just be happy the Man of Steel is back.

SR will do EXCELLENT Internationally and in DVD sales.

Why would WB take a chance with a different director, when the film is doing very good on all accounts?

Not to mention the second movie will be cheaper and faster to make.

Post-Crisis Superman is blamed for ALOT OF THINGS. He was very hated, up until INFINITE CRISIS.

So....the movie just broke 100 Mil, right?
