Transformers Box Office Thread

TF is doing great...that's all that really matters..
cause now they can do another...even better one

for the record tho, if it matches or beats spidey ones 7 day...then that means that it surely would have beat it's 3 day

extended openings only work for movies that have campers...
otherwise ppl go on their leisure or wait till the weekend...

HP
LOTR
STARwars are films that benefit from this

don't believe me?

take a look at spidey 1 three day
and compare that to spidey 2s three day

SR and BB are just about the dumbest openings ever

Thanks, I've been trying to find that page. I'm not the boxofficemojo pro.

Yeah and look what they are, plus why are they leaving the Monday off:huh:

I guess because it was not a full day release. Nobody´s saying it´s not a terrific release, but people seem to whine that it didn´t break this or that record cuz there was bad traffic or something.

the key is that it's not a sequel which is what makes it's gross so spectacular and also look at the competition it had

Its the biggest non-sequel opening of all-time. Sequels usally have way more demand this will pass 300 million and be a huge hit on dvd.

I wish people would stop comparing the box office numbers to that of Spidey, and vice versa and especially getting rabid over the matter. They're both doing good, thats what matters!

That's just what we do...like how F4 is compared to SR over at the other boards.

None of that proves that the record is easier to break, that argument would be valid for any movie opening in that period. Other movies opened in a six-day period and made better numbers than TF.
If you don't see it, don't worry about it.:trans:

Again, it IS a great gross, but people act like it should have been the biggest movie of all time and it wasn´t because someone cast a spell or something. I´m just putting things in perspective. Notice that I also said Spidey 3 didn´t sell as many tickets as Spidey 1, and you know I´m a big Spidey fan.

I don´t worry. The whole record-breaking thing is overrated anyway. It´s pretty relative.

Over rated to whom? You? Firstly, it's a badge of honor per say among movie makers, and fans alike. The Spidey franchise has enjoyed these bragging rights for way too long, and constantly bring it up to help them generate more money from their investors and what not. Titantic enjoyed it also. Telling your investors that investing in a 'B.O breaking franchise' that will yeild them back his/her money in a few days is a very lucractive bargaining chip when it comes to financing other movies, you know. So it involves alot more that just numbers.

It'll make enough money to warrant a sequel. That's all I care about.

no way this will gross 300m

i say 250

I'll say 300m. Harry potter is the only competition for the next couple of weeks. HP is going #1 next week and TF #2, in one week the movie can make around a 100m. That leaves 50m for rest of the run. Maybe 325m

ID4 did it. Why not this, seeing as how people are heavily comparing this movie to ID4.
lately it seems movies, no matter how good, just don't have legs

so you're saying next week, TF will only drop 33% from the previous week total gross?

not happening bro

ESPECIALLY with harry potter

If it makes another 50 mil between now and Friday, I'd say 300 is a reasonably attainable goal.

u guys are forgetting

july 27

SIMPSONS MOVIE also comes out

and august 3 (i think)

BOURNE ULTIMATUM...

Hmmm. Anyone know the budget for Simpsons?

Yeah probably like 100m between monday and next sunday. So that's like 253m in 2 weeks.
