Transformers Box Office Thread

So Transformers should hit 300 million by the end of next weekend. Well I am happy it will join the 300 million club.

When does it come out in Japan?

It's gonna be huge there. Japanes love Giant Robots

August 4th

lol, they even get these little things with the premiere... kinda cool...

...Well, I'm sure all the Japanese people have seen bootlegged copies anyways.

I wouldn't really call 45% drops "fading fast." It's pace, which started out behind, is now ahead of Pirates and that movie grosses $306 million.

Par's "Transformers" continued its impressive foreign perf, with $42 million at 5,362 in 49 territories, generating 60% of that from its launches in the U.K., France, Hong Kong and Belgium. The Michael Bay pic padded its record as the top foreign pic of all time in South Korea with another $1.6 million to lift that cume to $48 million.

I don't think that's likely. I think by the end of next Tuesday it should.

You guys have no idea how happy i am for the success of Transformers...i grew up with it,i watched the cartoons on German TV even though i didnt understand a single word, have played with the toys to the point they were broken...and then they anounced the movie and i was so hyped up,i imagined all kinds of stuff.

But as the time went by people were dissing Bay,dissing the movie everywhere i turned people laughed at the idea of a TF movie, almost everyone(not the fans) predicted that it would floop it would be a disaster and even though i was very sad about it i never stopped believing in it.

Enter the movie....the audiences love it,95% of the fans liked it and were satisfied it makes HUGE amount of money,is the frontrunner for almost every technical Academy Award and a sequal who promises to be even better is in the works...I'm proud to be a TF fan. :woot: :woot: :trans: :hyper:

Its not 'fading fast' at all. Some people just like to spew.

I highly disagree with you. Next weekend will probably be 5-6 million. If not for the monstrous five-day opening, Transformers In Name Only would have earned considerably less money.

That's just my opinion.

And another term I might add is rapidly declining in box office performance.

Current movie trends have most movies making 75 to 80% of their movie gross in the first 2 weeks of it's release.

This isn't years ago when movies are #1 for a month or 2 months at a time. Movies are lucky to have 2 weeks #1 at the box office.

In regards to Transformers, it's had the lowest drops as compared with most of the Summer movies such as Spider-Man, Shrek, Pirates and even Potter, if memory serves.

Interesting point of view.

Interesting point of view.
Based on common trends.

Look at the past few years of the box office, even the bigger movies only make it for 2 weekends at #1 with the occasional 3rd weekend.

Theaters especially during the Summer are so saturated with movies that a movie needs to make the bulk of their gross in the first 2 weeks.

Add on the quick to DVD release, and you have movies after 5 months already in your home entertainment center.

I just find it odd, that you fault TF for following the same pattern as the top 3 domestic movies SM3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3 but having lower drops than the others.

performance.

And if it wasn't for Pirates, Spidey, Potter, Simpsons, 300, and F42's massive openings they would've earned considerably less money too. If you compare Transformers with Potter, Shrek, Pirates, and Spidey (the five highest grossing movies of the year), Transformers has the second best legs among them all.

Sooo... yeah.

declining performance because it's already in it's 4th week and i wouldn't call it's decline rapid. you want rapid declining performance look at the numbers for SM3 and FF:RotSS. it's practically been a month since TF opened....most movies tend to decline, the way TF is, after 2 weeks if they're good.

If not for the monstrous five-day opening, Transformers In Name Only would have earned considerably less money.

which is biased towards the negative. i can't even remember the last time someone on these forums used "TINO"...

As of last Thursday it was playing in 601 theaters, so it's probably less than that.

Wow, its still out. Whats it at?

With regards to Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,

Domestic box office gross: $129,757,156

Foreign box office gross: $108,158,151

Total worldwide box office gross: $237,915,307
