Transformers Box Office Thread

DOn't remind me. School starts soon after Labor day. :cmad:

You may only be looking at another $10 to $25 million only. Fantasia 2000 is the highest grossing actual "movie" at IMAX and it only made $52 million.

Still $25 million would put it over Shrek and it might be able to surpass Spider-Man 3 domestically.

I hope so. Especially since I think that SM3 was a crap film.:down

I think that would be completely fitting, but unlikely to happen. $12 million tops is my prediction.

Transformers will easily be over 650+ million after the weekend, yah! SO IMAX is included in the box office earnings, thats a nice added boost for the movie. The new footage will bring back the fans who want more and can't wait for the extended dvd or TF2

Highly unlikely. Transformers was ok (I'll still get the DVD). SM3 was good in my book.

SM3 was sooo much below the bar set by SM1 and 2. It was supposed to be my favorite childhood characters retold, but unfortunately the only emotions I felt while watching it were indifference, bordem, and embarrassment. If the movie would've cut out Sandman, focused more on the suit (minus the Peter dance scene) and Brock it would've been much, much better.

This is some great marketing and idea on thier part. Instead of waiting 25 years like that jackass George Lucas, we get a special edition a few months afterwards.

Then the Ultra Edition on DVD.

And then the Super Hyper Edition for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

To be fair to Lucas he was exhausted after he had finished the original Star Wars series and needed a break. Even though it's enjoyable to make fun of George he is still a pioneer in raising the standards of the special effects side of movie making.

I agree that SM3 is the worst of the 3 films however one positive thing I can say about SM3 is it made me laugh the most. I was laughing hysterically when Peter Parker starting dancing in the street. That scene didn't contribute much to the plot but, it was still funny.

Yeah. ^ And even though I did like SM3, TF beats it by a long shot.

Is there extra footage in the IMAX version is there? What footage exactly, does anyone know?

$306.4 million! Transformers is 1.3 million away from surpassing Pirates. The big question now is, will there be enough juice left in it's run from now through IMAX to catch Shrek ($321 million)? I wish I could say yes, but I think Transformers is going to come up just short of $320 million. Hopefully I'm wrong!

On a side note, I've never been to an IMAX experience. I'm sure it's going to rock, and I'd pay $9 just to see Prime chopping of Bonecrusher's head in 3D, so please please please put the last 30-45 minutes in 3D so I can piss my pants.

Transformers Movie Part of Biggest Summer Blockbuster Records Ever!

Several source have reported that Hollywood has had its biggest summer blockbuster weekend ever, smashing records previously thought unbreakable. These recordbreakers have been in part been caused by the Transformers Movie.

Earlier this week it was announced by UPI that for the first time in movie history, that four Hollywood movies were breaking the $300 million mark in domestic sales at the same time! "Spider-Man 3" - $336.4 million; "Shrek the Third," - $321 million; "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," - $307.6 million; and "Transformers - "$303.7 million

Today Reuters has gone as far as to reporting on their site that Hollywood Studio's are looking at a $4 billion summer record at U.S. and Canadian box offices after this past weekend, citing that movies, including Transformers, had beaten all expectations.

Another overseas record was also broken over the weekend as The Hollywood Reporter points out in their article that an unprecedented six movies grossed over $10 million dollars at the box office at the same time in a single weekend!
"The Simpsons Movie" - $22.3 million, "The Borne Ultimatum" - $22 million, "Ratatouille," - $16.4 million; "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," - $15.6 million; "Transformers," - $10.7 million; and "Rush Hour 3," - $10.6 million.

"TF",which has almost completed all of its foreign openings, checked in with a cume of $353.7 million after its weekend performance of $10.7 million. Market cumes to date include $41.2 million from the U.K. in three weeks, $50.5 million from Korea in seven weeks, $23.5 million from Japan in two weeks, and $23.4 million from Australia in seven weeks.

This was a great year for movies. Never went so much in my life.

hey guys...i haven't been keeping up with the BO lately. could someone fill me in on how TF is doing in Japan?

2 weeks of release in Japan and it's grossed $23 million.

23.5 mil in Japan. They seem to not appreciate a Live action movie of TF but supported the witch (HP) instead, since it's no1 there right now. This is probably the sadddest part since I thought Japan are big into robots but turned to the witch instead.

"At the same time, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," maintaining a brisk pace at its sixth weekend of international release, reached a cume of $591.2 million as it brought in the $15.6 million from 6,500 prints in 62 territories. The film held the No. 1 position in Japan for a second straight weekend, earning $2.6 million from 631 screens for a market cume to date of $63.4 million. In its second weekend in China, Harry and friends generated $3.2 million from 525 prints for a market cume of $13.4 million."

wtf? japanese are weird...i'll never understand them.

mecha and robots were practically BORN in Japan but they'd rather watch Harry Potter which was practically born in the West. i guess HP's success in Japan is due to HP being a more "cutesy" and female friendly property.

I was hoping it'll break all kinda record there, maybe 100mil, but I don't know what happened. That's one thing that I admire in Japan is their robots. But maybe I was wrong, maybe they're just into real cheesy robots like power rangers and TF armada.
