Brad Peyton Directing Lobo

The Rock was made to play Lobo. he's got the physique & the personality.

The only thing is that I think he is a little too tanned. He needs to stay away from tanning lotion.

I don't think he's big enough.

Not sure if serious.
How could the rock be not big enough.

Not saying the Rock wouldn't be a good choice, just not sure about him playing Lobo. But he could be great. I always thought of an actor who looked more weathered in the face. Someone like Vinnie Jones or Clancy Brown (back during Highlander) or Micky Rourke, or Danny Trejo, or something.
Is that picture of the Rock real? Or has it been photoshopped? He is huge.

It's real. He's playing a steroid addict in a Michael Bay movie.

Jesus Christ. I would not **** with him.

Bruce Malone... IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! :D /Rock.

He's a monster. Just like Lobo. :D Now he just has to channel that inner-monster for the Lobo movie.

This is the first I have heard of a LOBO movie, so I will read up on what ever I can find on it. But honestly, I just dont see it happening. Not in live action anyway, maybe an animated movie, but not Live action.
BTW: Dwayne Johnson would not be right for the part, in my opinion anyway.

Actually, Bruce Timm said one of the animated shorts they were planning on doing was Lobo, but they stopped doing the animated shorts... So it didn't happen. I'd be totally cool with an animated movie.

Iunno, it took me awhile to get use to the idea of Rock as Lobo, but now it's really grown on me and this could be his role he's best known for, if they get the script right. I really wanted Kevin Durand to play him, but Rock is great.

Mickey Rourke would have been cool if he was a little bit younger. Jeffery Dean Morgan just seems too obvious to me, I guess because he's already played a DC hero.

I guess I can see The Rock pulling off the quirky/cheesy lines that Lobo says better than anyone else.

I could see The Rock playing Lobo, giving a performance like he gave in the Run Down (an over the top action movie with his performance meant to be a little tongue in cheek, his role as Lobo I mean) over him taking what I would see as a more dramatic Red Skull type performance as Black Adam. But I could see him doing either, but probably not both.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in 3 DC movies so far actually.

Yep and Chris Evans has been in a DC movie and 4 Marvel movies with 2 more to come so I guess that puts him in the lead? It used to be Ryan Reynolds who was all over the place. The whole an actor playing multiple comic book characters used to get on my nerves but to be honest if the actor is talented enough it can work...Chris Evans made it work.

Yes but Jeffrey Dean Morgan may not have the physique for it.

To be honest while an actor being ripped and big like The Rock is favorable to the character I always figured Lobo was a character that could easily be Hellboyed for the big screen (heavy prosthetics and make-up)

Yeah, but if they want to make it as realistic as possible, they shouldn't prosthetic him up too much. Lobo hasn't been a very prosthetic character like Hulk or Hellboy. He is kinda like a bigger version of Wolverine. Tall and muscular but with crazy make up on.
So its not really fair to make him go all Hulk, cos he isn't that big anyways. As for Hellboy, they still found a body builder sized guy to use him as a base so theres no CGI just lotsa make up and all. I think same could be done with Lobo but they still need to search for a bodybuilder sized guy.

That worked for HELLBOY, but I swear, if they make this movie and The Rock's voice comes out of Lobo instead of something a little more alien...

Realistic as possible? You do know that Lobo is a foul-mouthed, violent, huge muscular ALIEN...right? Lol. Lobo is an over the top character...realistic is not a word that necessarily has to be associated with a film about him. Considering Guy Ritchie was the attached director at one point I think the studio recognizes that. I never once mentioned CGI by the way and never said he needed to be the size of the Hulk. I said make-up and prosthetics...like Hellboy. Like I said...if they cast an actor who isn't super ripped like The Rock.

For anyone who hasn't seen the Lobo short... This is pretty awesome for fan stuff.

Why not Ron Perlman as Lobo:

I mean besides him being in his 60s. He still plays barbarians and soldiers and stuff.

This is WB. If they feel that a DC comic book character isn't sellable on it's own they're always going to opt for names they feel are more bankable rightly or wrongly.

Ew. The Rock. He wouldn't be god awful as Lobo but there are much better choices out there. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jason Momoa, ...Hell, I wouldn't even mind Mickey Rourke taking a crack at it.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is short and not built.

Jason Momoa is not built and has a flop under his belt.

Mickey Rourke is old as dirt.

The Rock will be good. He's got a lot of onscreen charisma and he's got the physical presence required.

I agree, The Rock should be a pretty awesome Lobo, if this film actually happens.

If not, it'd be cool to see him pop up in the Justice League film.
