Brand New Day villains

If they actually pull inspiration from Superior Foes of Spider-Man and Nick Spencer's ASM run, Boomerang would actually be an interesting choice for the movie. And gonna go out on a limb and say that's who Steven Yeun is potentially playing.

I think these are the minor villains with small parts. The big ones got the known casting calls.

If Boomerang and Tombstone are going to end up like Shocker and then I would prefer not to see them. While Scorpion's role should be special, after the long wait from the first movie.

Scorpion's role should be significant. No point reintroducing the character if they aren't going to do much with Gargan.

I'd like to see minor villains in general, though. Not for a lot of screen-time, but for a quick appearance.

One thing that I did like about Amazing Spider-Man 2 was that Rhino at the start wasn't the primary villain. He was just one obstacle for Spidey on the way to dealing with the main plot, which is something I wish we got more of in Spider-Man villains.

Some online seem to be jumping to the conclusion that these three are the only villains, which I doubt.

I still tend to think that Mr. Negative is main villain, with Scorpion ,and the others , also being featured in the film.

In a way , it fits that Scorpion and Lincoln are involved, given how much they've been highlighted in Disney's Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman cartoon.

If there is a female villain, as has been rumored and reported on, she may turn out to be more of a henchperson ,or righthand to Mr. Negative, as opposed being a secondary villain.

The idea of having a female supervillain in a Spider-Man live action movie is so refreshing to me, that I would be disappointed if there's none in Brand New Day.

I could see her being Carolyn Trainer.

I hope there's actual costume for Scorpion. I'm not sure how he's going to look. Insect like or robotic.

Tombstone *could* be a major villain if they based him off of the Spectacular Spider-Man… but if they wanted a Kingpin figure, Marvek would probably have no problem actually putting Kingpin in the film, so I suspect Tombstone is probably more along the lines of his video game appearance as a significant but not dominating presence.

Boomerang feels 100% like a guy Peter might pick on if we finally have a trash-talking Spider-Man.

…And Michael Mando feels to me like he’s got the respect in the industry to make Scorpion the main physical threat even if there’s a bigger villain above him.

Mr. Negative has the type of more esoteric powers that can make him intriguing without the story resulting to a punch-fest, while Scorpion has major “Punch-fest through a set piece energy.”

This series (and superhero films in general) is desperately in need of fun side-villains to act as henchmen and minor antagonists. The lack of lesser rogues has always been a weakness for these franchises. Shocker was great, though I'm still bummed we haven't seen him since.

Shocker's everyday outfit was just not well thought of. If I wasn't paying attention, I wouldn't have known they were two Shockers. Well I only found about them in the internet and I was like oh?!. If they are going to have these side villains, at least make them cool that people would also want to buy toys/merchandise after their 3 minute screentime.

That's certainly fair, but definitely a problem with the MCU in general. They really don't like "street level" characters having any sort of actual costumes.

I just wonder when we're gonna get actual confirmed, non-rumored casting news for the villains. I remember Michael Keaton being cast for Homecoming in April of 2016, and then Jake Gyllenhaal being cast for FFH in May of 2018, so like the spring of each year those respective movies filmed. NWH was the exception. Any ideas?

The source for that one is MyTimeToShineHello, who is not very reliable on casting or couches their claims in 'is being looked at'. Else Sydney Sweeney would already be playing Black Cat and Mila Kunis would be playing The Thing.

It’s very humbling because I’ve tried for many years to work in this business, get a name for myself. It’s been an extremely challenging journey, and so to have this awareness in the fan base, which by the way, the fans, they don’t just like anything – to have this burgeoning recognition is everything I’ve hoped and worked for. Now whether I get the actual role or not, that’s up to higher powers than me. I’m just glad people like my work and are entertained. As for audition opportunities, I can’t rightly say one way or the other. But I will say. On the business side of things, studios want big names, global names. So take that for what you will.
I’d like to ramp up the physicality if I could. And also play up more of the street level triad leader angle. Would be nice to see some gritty gang war drama play out. But of course, that’s a writer thing!
Who’s going to say no to that? Yes, I’d love the chance. It’d be a real full circle moment for me and my career. But again, I think the chances of that are quite slim. But as for the character himself, I’d love to see Mr. Negative interact with Kingpin. Two New York crime bosses having a climactic showdown. The possibilities are endless.

honestly with how many different "rumored" villains there are in this...

I could see it playing out like that scene in Anchorman

each character just showing up with their different gangs each one more over the top then the next...
