ESTEVEZ IS A DEFINITE FOR BREAKFAST CLUB REUNION MOVIE

EMILIO ESTEVEZ has signed on to appear in a sequel to cult Brat Pack movie THE BREAKFAST CLUB, despite missing out on joining his castmates for a MTV Movie Awards reunion last month.

The actor failed to show up for the 20th anniversary get together, but insists he did have every intention of being there until a family emergency forced him to pull out.

He says, "It didn't work out but I love that movie. I wouldn't deliberately avoid such a situation, it's just that family called that night - and my kids always come first.

"I felt truly honoured to be involved in the movie. It's amazing the legacy it's had."

But Estevez, who played high school sports star ANDY CLARK in director JOHN HUGHES' 1985 detention tale, urges fans of the film not to take his no-show as a sign he's not interested in a planned sequel.

He adds, "John's got an idea for a sequel - mature aged students at college, all doing time again - for some reason or another.

"The twist would be that we're all the polar opposites of how we were in the original. JUDD (NELSON), for instance, would now be the straight-laced one. I'm definitely in. If it happens, I'm there."

THE FIRST IS A CLASSIC AND I DON'T KNOW IF A SEQUEL WOULD BE GOOD. BUT DARE I UTTER THOSE EVERSO POPULAR WORDS...REMAKE?

hmmmm...I'd see it but this is the first I have heard of it.

I'd see it but who actually thinks it'll happen?

A sequel??? Give me a f@#king break!!! They're in the early or mid 40's for Pete's sake!!!!

Perhaps a remake would be better. Keep in mind the ages of the actors though when making casting suggestions.

JUDD NELSON/John Bender = 26
MOLLY RINGWALD/Claire Standish = 17
EMILIO ESTEVEZ/Andrew Clark = 23
ALLY SHEEDY/Allison Reynolds = 23
ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL/Brian Thompson = 17

and who can forget...
PAUL GLEASON/Principal Dick Vernon = 46
JOHN KAPELOS/Karl the Janitor = 28

I'm sorry but that is another terrible idea for a remake.

Judd Nelson along with Paul Gleason could never be replaced.

The performances of the character's is what makes the film so great for me.

To be fair though, we don't know any of the details yet.

I think that there's a certain trend going on in Hollywood towards bringing films from a different decade striving to give them the same retro feel with a twist for todays culture. Breakfast Club will always be around. A movie based around this concept more than 20 years later isn't going to do anything to hurt it's reputation. It'll be more of a homage if anything.

Also, I highly doubt the title will simply be called Breakfast Club 2. It'll probably be called "The Breakfast Club Reunion" or something like that. I think it'd be interesting to see a modern day spin-off of an '80's concept about youth and education.

Paul Gleason was great in that film. how the hell can they do it without him!

Anthony Michael Hall is this big ass dude. He already looked different enough from this movie to Edward Scissorhands. Reprising that role would be hilarious. Plus, I couldn't see Judd Nelson being Bender again. Judd Nelson is so...mature, plus we never forget him being the villain in Steel, yet him in New Jack City was greatness. Emilio is pulling a Ron Howard based on that pic above, but for Molly and Ally, I can totally see them reprising their roles.

Really thinking about it all again, this isn't a completely terrible idea. But it's way to late for it to happen. Plus i would want to see Paul Gleason as Vernon somewhere in the film and that just isn't possible now. :csad:

I remember that MTV movie awards reunion being like 2 years ago, right? So maybe it has been scrapped since.

Hopefully, because a sequel AND a remake to this would just be stupid and ridiciulous. The original is great as it is.

If its them 20 years on in the movie it could be interesting IMO i was just about to young to remember the first film i remember hearing about it at the time but i didnt really see all the fuss is about it it doesnt compare to the likes of Goonies, weird science, the last starfighter ect.

anthony michael hall is gonna be the built one, with the other dudes being shells of their former high school selves.

oh yea and horrible idea. but i cant resist

EMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOO

Judd Nelson has already been there, done that. :o

I always thought it would be interesting for them to meet each other at a HS reunion and see that they had all turned into the people the said they wouldn't. Just to see the conflict between them.

a sequel would be surreal and awkward
