Breaking the fourth wall with Deadpool!

You know what else or rather who else needs to be in Deadpool's spin-off? Bea Arthur. She can be his Mary Jane/Love interest. It'd be priceless. If she was up to it. :o

Hahaha! That would be amazing. :woot:

4th'ed, or 5th'ed, whatever.

It's kind of annoying to see people think he's only about breaking the 4th wall. Also, breaking the 4th wall works best in a book, rather than a movie supposed to be set in reality.

Deadpools own movie could be a little different, an action comedy, so it might fit the tone.

You can't have a serious, realistic (all things considered) movie with some character reminding you it's a movie.

Breaking fourth wall is part of Deadpool's character. If he doesn't break it then it's not being faithful to the character. He doesn't have to do it all the time in his own film, but it would make for some exciting and funny moments when he does it.

Personally I feel you should see Wade get scarred/diagnosed with cancer and give the hint of him going insane, putting the costume on, and going on with his mercenary life as a way of pointing to a spin-off.

Hey this would be pretty funny if they did this. Like you said its all apart of his character FYI if they hint at a spin off film for the guy I wouldn't complaine, he's one of my favorites.

Some extremely cheesy and pointless moments. How stupid would it be if Deadpool anounced he knew this was a movie...this is the worst idea ever for any movie that wants to be good.

The only place a scene like this needs to be is in a gag reel or after credit scene that has no weight on the movie.

It's not "part of his character". It's something that he does in his comic book. There is a difference. DP only started breaking the 4th wall relativley recently. He didn't in any of his first two mini's, and aside from the intro, didn't do it well into the Kelly series.

I dunno, if you think DP not breaking the 4th wall is "not being faithful" I'd say you either need to learn a lot more about making movies, or about deadpool himself.

It COULD be funny, in his own movie. But you have to look at breaking the 4th wall as a literary device. It's best when used in books. Because reading is different than watching a movie designed to take place in real life.

The entire purpose of a movie is to get you lost in the story, in the action, in the characters. The last thing that's gonna make sense is reminding the viewers they are watching a movie.

It's still a wolverine movie. I'd LOVE to see the scarring and the full on costume, but let's not expect too much.

If Wilson breaks the fourth wall in this movie, then it needs to be very, very subtle. Maybe like this:
Wilson and another character are standing 3 feet from each other, talking. Camera view is behind and over the right shoulder of character X, looking at Wilson from mid-chest up. Wilson breaks eye contact with character X, and looks directly into the camera three times during the conversation. Character X, out of frustration, looks over his right shoulder, directly into the camera, and asks Deadpool, "What the hell do you keep looking at?'
Wilson says, "You ever get the feeling your being watched? Or that your stuck in a reality TV show that you are unaware of, like that Jim Carey movie?"
Character X, "Your effing crazy, you know that? Crazy!", and he stomps off.
Or:, if you wanna go for sheer stupidity...
Wilson goes to a restroom, approaches a urinal, and starts to do his business, all the while seeming to hold a conversation with someone else. The camera just does a static shot from about five feet behind. Wilson double takes, looks back at the camera, and says, "Hey, let's keep this PG-13, pal, give me a minute. Besides, I don't want this to end up on the internet, like that _________ website."
The named website could be SSH, CBR, Newsarama,AICN, or whatever.
The problem with placing it after or during the credits, is most will simply assume it one of the gag or blooper reels, and not realize that is part of the character.

That first one is absolutely perfect! Great idea! It's subtle, but still allows for some 4th wall breakage. Nice. :woot:

How about no:o

I'm a big Deadpool fan, but I agree he shouldn't break the 4th wall, unless he was in his own spinoff.

At the most, I'd be ok if maybe he glanced at the screen and winked at one point or something. Probably nothing more than that.

Why not wait until DVD, and have an easter egg where Deadpool can do commentary? That'd be great.

have him run into the camera,

then wolverine says "quit playing around"

then deadpool says "sorry"

but have it used in promotional materials (i.e. Ads/Tv spots)

The fan's will realize, of course... :cwink:

A thread devoted to Deadpool breaking the 4th wall?

This couldnt have been discussed in the Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool thread?

Oh wait...............it already has been.

;)

For examples of how Deadpool should break the fourth wall check out the movie Josie and the Pussycats. In it Alan Cummings breaks the fourth wall by looking at the camera a few times at pivotal scenes. And one character remarks "I'm here because I was in the comic." But suddenly something very important happens to take the focus off that.
Thats the kind of 4th wall breaking Deadpool should do. Tiny, not overt, little nods to the audiance and maybe the comic audiance in particular.

it would be great, creative idea if they did it right.

Subtlety is key to breaking the fourth wall in something thats not Deadpools solo movie.

Every see My Big Fat Independent Movie: "We just cant kill anyone. We're anti-heroes, we can only kill people who are worse than us." or along those lines

or "I already know the ending of this movie" Which can be ambiguous bad guy banter

A shrug or head nod to the camera maybe.

No addressing the audience outright or bluntly addressing the fact hes in a movie

I could see it working if they were to play it as if he's talking to himself. Let's say they have a seen where stryker is showing logan and victor the newly formed weapon x team (example) and when they get to dead pool, he sais something like "I hope you're all enjoying the movie, stay after the credits for a little treat." And they just have a big WTF face, until Stryker explains his mental state. I know that's a bit cliche but you know what I mean. Also there could be a part where he's sais "Now it's my time to shine" "When do I get my own movie?" "I should have gotten more screen time."

Lets wait and see how long Deadpool's in the movie for. If he has a somewhat larger role, then there's the possibility. If he has a small, maybe even cameo role, then there shouldn't be any breaking the fourth wall. Non-fans wouldn't get it, and it would disrupt the flow for everyone else.

But if he plays an important role in the movie, I'm all for him doing something subtle at one point.

After a hearty discussion...Deadpool should read the credits :o and tell us to stay after them for the scene at the end. But no camera winks or cheesy one liners to the audience during the movie.

if deadpool gets to break the 4th wall why doesn't spider-man have heres around to ask fr team ups with?
