Brian K. Vaughan to Write Runaways Movie

Also, in perhaps the best news of the day (Marvel movie-wise) Matthew McConaughey will not be considered for the role of Captain America, according to Kevin Feige.

AWESOME!!!!!

Well, they got the perfect writer for it. Congrats to BKV!

Sweet Jeebus, yes.

Newsarama claims they're also going to set Captain America entirely in WWII, which is super-awesome.

I know. I mentioned that in the forth post in this thread:

Kevin Feige also mentioned that the Captain America movie will be a full on, WWII period piece (awesome), confirmed that that was Cap's shield in Iron Man, and hinted that not all of the Thor movie will take place in Asgard. It seems like Marvel Studio is firing on all cylinders right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joss direct a BKV penned screenplay.

Same. I know people didnt care for the arc Joss wrote, but I think he could direct the s*** outta this movie.

Marvel Studios as of right is in a awesome position. If Iron Man was any indication then Hulk,Thor,Cap and Avengers will kick ass. Also I would love Iron Fist and Dr.strange movies.Maybe this will get WB to get off it's ass.:o

Oh, I agree. Maybe WB will actually start to treat the DC properties with the repect they deserve.

I creamed my pants when I read the title. And then I actually read the article.....and...:o
Holy crap this is awesome.

What do you base that on? What has he ever directed that was of any consequence?

Serenity, and just about any episode of Buffy/Angel he directed.

Serenity was very good.So were those early Buffy Seasons. But has he ever directed something not written by him.

Now just get Joss Whedon to direct it, and we're set.

I believe a few episodes he directed on BTVS and Angel were written by others, and he is supposed to have a project lined up called "Cabin in the Woods" that will be written by Drew Goddard (a Lost writer, just like BKV).

I fixed that, so it has the name of something good they've both written for.

It is great news that if anyone is writing a RUNAWAYS film, it is their creator.

As for whether it will be a new or old story, multi-media adaptations of comics always alter something, so there should be something "new" no matter how faithful it is.

Well, the only people I've ever even heard talk about Serenity were people who were already Buffy fans. And a good tv director does not always make a good movie director. I'm not saying he's bad or anything. But I'd hardly say he's a proven product as far as directing goes.

This has me so excited I'm putting up my first post after nearly two years of being a deadwood member!
