Ellie is a pretty cool character created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly. You might remember her from Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men as a Hellfire Club Member.

Her code name comes from the 1995 Monster Magnet song which will probably get a lot more popular now. She has a pretty sweet power set with Precognition and Telepathy.

I had never heard of her but Def28 pointed out a while back that Rhett Reese mentioned that she was in the film/script in an interview a few years back. So I looked her up and she seems pretty cool.

Maybe the song can be playing when Deadpool meets her and jokingly says you might as well call yourself Negasonic Teenage Warhead. With that song coming out in 1995, do you think that will mean this film probably won't be set in 80s?

Yeah, I strongly doubt it. There's no evidence to really say it will be in the 80s. Never know for sure, but everything else points otherwise.

Doesn't mean she can't be a fun/cool character but her name has always been made fun of cause it's one of the most ridiculous out there . Kitty Pryde took note of that herself, and it's pretty much a given Deadpool will do the same if they mention her by codename.

Pretty much. If you are going to take license on anyone it's gonna be characters like this who's role in the comics was pretty much to show up and die.

I've only experienced her in Grand Morrison's E for Extinction.

She predicted the fall of Genosha, then died. Then pops up reanimated on Necrosha....then dies again.

I'll ask a stupid question, mostly because I know [frick] all about the character-

Is she supposed to be wearing that?

I mean, it's a great Kitty Pryde X-Men costume and I'd totally dig it if the actual X-Men wore something like that in their movies but whatever pics I could source from Google showed her in some odd looking blackish costumes. So, what's up with that?
