Oh god no. The visuals in Saving Private Ryan were AMAZING!! Perfect for a gritty WWII war film imo. I also loved the look of Munich as well.

UK trailer with a few new shot's.

Honestly, if it weren't for the Coens writing this, I wouldn't be interested in this at all. Many of Spielberg's historical dramas just feel too propagandist to me, primarily a result of his direction. I think historical films need to have a much more realist direction.

But, hey, it's a Hollywood film so this is expected.

Could they have gone blander?

"Jim, got any ideas on how to fill up this poster?"

"Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks' head."

"...supersize it."

I still think it looks really good. When i read the initial synopsis of it and saw it was a Spielberg/Hanks collaboration, I was actually thinking it would be in the vein of Catch Me If You Can for some reason (love that movie), but still, if it's good...

The movie looks good and I think it'll be good, but it does have that 'Now that's a movie I can take my parants to' vibe. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I can't get too excited about it either.

I saw it tonight and really enjoyed it. I would give it a 9/10. Tom Hanks was fantastic as usual, and the story was very interesting to me.

Agreed, I saw it today and found it a quality slice of oldschool movie making, Hanks was excellent, all the supporting character actors were great, the story was engrossing and interesting and I loved the crisp, clean palette of the film, the scenes in Berlin were especially good.

This is a film that is all about the story and actors with Hanks lawyer Donovan engaging in several engaging negotiations filled with double talk as he negotiates the trade, however the sequence where the Blackbird is shot down is fantastic and one of the most visually dynamic sequences this year IMO.

Yeah it was a good movie and Hanks and Spielberg is always good collaboration. Spielberg chance to get a Best Director nomination as well.

Spielberg and Kaminski are one of my favorite director/DP collabs. They make films that look little like anything else made that year. Lincoln had some of the most unique lighting I've ever seen in a movie. Bridge of Spies also looks class.

I just watched this and it was phenomenal. Loved every second of it. Classic Spielberg + Hanks collaboration.

9/10
