Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

She shouldn't be too buff. You need to be strong to fly jet fighters but you need to be small enough to fit into the cockpit.

she's a woman. Even if she bulks up, she's still going to be smaller than the average man whom the cockpits are built in mind for. I really dont think thats going to be to be an issue in worrying about her size

Exactly, her fitting in the cockpit even if she's substantially bulked up won't be an issue at all. I doubt they'll want Larson looking like She-Hulk. I could see her being adding muscle similarly to Gadot, though she'll probably end up being a bit bigger.

All in all, I still can't believe people are already trying to say Larson is "too skinny." :o

It's not a quote but my thoughts.
Marvel Studios has a habit of casting #Oscar winners into their stable. So with #BrieLarson as #CaptainMarvel I would not be a bit surprised if Kevin Feige and Sarah Halley Finn were to cast #CharlizeTheron who will be seen in the upcoming movie #TheFateOfTheFurious and who has been the villain in two Snow White/Hunstman movies and has great track record of playing villains on screen and having her cast as Moonstone/Dr. Karla Sofen would be so exciting tom see on screen, As much as I love to see #KatherynWinnick in the Moonstone role I wouldn't mind to see Miss Theron cast in the Marvel Studios franchise as part of their #phase4 plans

Obviously, Theron is by far the better (and more expensive) actor. EDIT: I'm comparing her to Winnick in case there's any confusion.

By the way Boys and Girls, Brie looks just fine. She's a pro and will be ready for the role. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Reminder that Free Fire comes out on April 21. I still haven't seen Kong, because money. How's Brie in Kong Skull Island? I heard her character doesn't do much because of stupid monkey.

Well, said monkey is the central focus of the film so.....yeah.

But Larson did good with what she had & personally, I loved her character. She definitely had a lot more to do in SI than Elizabeth Olsen had to do in Godzilla.

Brie is a great actress, but the more I see her in other roles the more I think she'll fail here. Just don't see her as Carol. We'll see. We need a skepticism thread, or I'll just keep posting my skepticism.

I thought she did fine. TBH, there wasn't a whole lot for any of the actors, but I found her to be very real and charismatic.

Interesting...the more I see her, the more range I think she has as an actor. I think she's going to kill it if she gets a good script....and I believe she will. The casting folks at Marvel have really done a stellar job and I have no reason to start doubting them now.

I'm saving my concern for Gal and I really hope my fears are unfounded. I just don't think she's got Brie's chops and think she's going to have to have a script delivered that is right in her wheelhouse.

Incredible actress. I've been going over her filmography in anticipation for this, but the more I see her the more I'm uncertain...She's got excellent range, I just imagine someone a little rougher around the edges. Room is a performance worthy of an award, which is what peaked my interest for her in the first place. She's vastly superior to Gal as an actress, but having seen the trailers I think Gal could be a great WW. I'll probably just need the same here.

yikes, lookin a tad too skinny for my tastes
she must be using Gadot's trainer

You serious?

Gal was in perfect shape for WW, and lol at that dig of Mark Twight. World class trainer.

Also, I stil dont know why a lot of the fandom still complain about this, these actors will get in shape, chill brahs.

Marvel hasn't made a bad casting choice yet. I don't see them starting anytime soon.

I feel bringing up Gadot in this thread in a negative way is petty. You don't have to tear one actress down to build another one up. There is room for two female led Superhero films and I am rooting on both to succeed.

Also Mark Twight is an excellent trainer and Gadot physically looks great in Wonder Woman. They were never getting a body builder for that role or the Captain Marvel role.

Actors who have range can project that.....PooPoo(l) :oldrazz:

Seriously though....she IS really talented. I think after all is said and done, we're going to come to the conclusion that Marvel has made a really good choice. I predict we'll know before he standalone as I expect to see her in the next Avengers movie as Carol.

Brie Larson will do great. Not remotely worried at all.

I mean I don't think that Marvel are perfect but their lead casting in their Superhero movies has been great. Can't say the same for their Netflix shows anymore...

I didn't see that and I certainly don't think I did that. I absolutely do have concerns about Gal pulling off the lead in a standalone and the basis of my concern was her performance in BvS. I've said it more than once, that I thought it was uneven. Some really good and some not so great moments. I've also said, I'm willing to sit tight as I think Snyder did a lot of people an injustice in that movie. Henry being a prime example.

The other person just said s/he thought Brie was a better actor and I don't think there's a lot of people who think otherwise. For me, it has nothing to do with tearing Gal down. I genuinely hope the movie is really good. The last thing we need to hear is that women can't really headline SH movies. That being said, I am a little hopeful and a little skeptical.

I thought Gal looked AMAAAAAAAAZING in BvS and I think Brie will look awesome too. I don't see why they shouldn't; they're both very beautiful.

I liked IF, but, I agree, the casting could have maybe been a little bit stronger. My hope is that as people get more comfortable in their roles, that there is improvement. I don't expect Orphan Black performances, but I think even Tatiana got better as she eased into the role. I'm so bummed it's ending. :csad:

I'm still struggling to see where the too skinny is, man.

Lol

If the biceps aren't the size of the head, it ain't superhero :o

This. No offense to Gal, she seems like a classy lady and I genuinely liked her in BvS. Really excited for WW.

I'm a fan of Gal. You'll be happy to know she's my fourth most googled topic in the last month behind Compound Metals, Acetylene Torches and Halloween masks.

Yes, you can. Even if you don't like Iron Fist that's one character and every other major hero/heroine of the Netflix shows is well-casted. Isolating one bad weed in a field and calling the whole field sterile is wrong and biased. The Netflix shows have some of the best casting in the MCU and the best casting in the comic book television. far better than the CW shows.

Well, there's more than one bad weed when it comes to some of the Netflix casting. There are few, but they're there. Let's not even get into Elektra, though the issues with her extend both to writing and performance. I'm sure you'd disagree.

It's okay to not like a Marvel casting after seeing the performance. I like Marvel Studios, they are good at what they do, better than any other studio making comic book movies. I think that they've had more than one bad weed when it comes to casting though. But we are only talking about THE lead role not supporting roles so I stuck to that. I wrote lead for a reason.

Of course my not liking Finn Jones performance in Iron Fist does not suddenly mean that I think Marvel has lost it when it comes to casting leads. One mistake wouldn't cause me to think that. I think that Larson's casting is terrific and that she'll be amazing.

We should probably get back on topic, we don't want the CM forums to devolve into what the Juiced Up League forums have become, Zoinks!
