Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

Yea I liked the movie. And I want to see the full trilogy. But don't let the CM haters over hype Alita for you though. It's a fun film but it's not perfect.. Like I said, there is alot of fake enthusiasm from the CM and Brie detractors to try and diminish the hype from Marvels effort.

Oh ok does it set up a sequel yeah?

No I don't usually buy in to that stuff to much, I do think she did say some stuff that must have made the films PR department pull a few hairs out lol. But if I didn't go see movies because I think the actors are a bit:loco: then I would probably only see a hand full of films a year:funny:

I won't spoil it, but Cameron has been talking about making Alita into a series of movies for years. There based on a bunch of manga novels.

i think she did great with what she has to do, all the complain about her character were understandable but its all on purpose off the story
as the movie goes she become more likeable & you start to feel for her
she's very bad ass

The backlash against Larson started well before any comment she made about the makeup of the critic pool. I remember back when she was cast, people were upset that Larson was picked to play her instead of the fancasts of Emily Blunt, Katee Sackhoff, Yvonne Strahovski, Katheryn Winnick, and Ronda Rousey. People were going almost solely on looks or previous roles without looking at the long-term needs of the role (young enough to last for almost a decade of films but old enough to convey Carol's military background) that Larson can grow into. I saw her casting in a similar vein as Hemsworth, Evans, and ScarJo, all of whom may not have been what fans imagined when first cast but have become fan favorites in the MCU.

'Captain Marvel' Now Being Review Bombed On IMDb

Imagine how heads will explode when we finally get a non-white female led superhero movie.
This must be an American thing. I could honestly care less about leads a film as long as the quality is up to scratch.

In relation to Brie, I don't really follow her interviews. Of what I have seen the impression I get is that she's unpolished in interviews which can lead to people taking umbrage at a bluntly made point.

Ronda Rousey!! ****ing hell.

I don't know a whole lot about CM so I was non plussed about Larson's casting. I can only really recall thinking; "bloody hell, they've bagged themselves a best actress." It's actually amazing to me some of the female talent Marvel has managed to get from Swinton to Blanchett. Can only hope vein continues now they've some of their female big hitters back in the family.

What "score" it is a simple "do you want to do something?" Or "do you not want to do something" people trying to paint them as the same are trying really hard to fit a square into a circle.

They are all like cheesetests for mice. Hey silly human, click on this. Waste your time on clicking things that amount to absolutely nothing, when you could go outside and GET A LIFE!

Still trying to process the revelation some fans wanted Ronda Rousey or an actress who recently hammed it up on the CW (admitted enjoyably).

I think her and Sackhoff get fancast for nearly every female comic book role, kinda like how Michael Jai White used to as well for any black comic book character that was being cast.

I saw the film today and Brie did a really good job in the role in my view. I was especially happy with how she conveyed many things with small means. I had been slightly skeptical on whether she fit the role based on the trailers but I was pleasantly surprised.

It breaks my heart to say this, but Brie didn't really work for me as Carol. There's something... awkward about her performance (nope, it wasn't just the trailers). Maybe it's because she's playing an amnesiac soldier for most of the movie, but I'm sure that's the only problem. I mean her banter with SLJ was good but that's about it.

It's a shame because I know she has it in her to play a good Carol Danvers... maybe she needs a better script and directors.

I for one was pleased by Brie's performance, and I was quite skeptical of her when watching the trailers and tv spots, but she won me over. Looking forward to see her in Endgame.

A review on the biggest Finnish daily newspaper (3/5 which is the norm and highest they'll give to any comic book movie because critics) mentioned how she acts a lot with her eyes and mouth, with subtlety. I read it before seeing the movie and paid attention to those and it's pretty accurate. I've only seen her before on The United States Of Tara and that's how she was more or less in that one as well.

You should check Room out because she's outstanding in that movie. She's almost as good as her 10 year old co-star!

And yes, this is a compliment, because that kid is amazing.

So Rotten Tomatoes removing that function and acknowledging that trolls are a problem is what? A conspiracy? They're in the pockets of Disney?

**** this thread.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was some level of collusion with giant studios on important movies. Remember when they seemingly arbitrarily decided to withhold the review and score of Justice League until the very last moment? It can't just be a coincidence that this stuff only ever happens when things are negatively influencing movies. It's not like fandoms don't bombard the service with positive scores in exactly the same way when they want something to do well.

My point is that while Larson may be controversial to the "anti-SJW" crowd, you can't call her a "controversial actor" because 99% of the people in the film going community either don't care about her comments, don't know about her comments or support them.

Controversial does not mean objectionable, it means evoking public disagreement. If she was not controversial then I can't imagine why the mainstream media would feel the need to put out countless articles defending her.

wow this has to be the weakest attempt at review bombing I have ever seen

all that work and they just barley have the movie at a 5.8 lol

They better hope the movie experiences some kind of last jedi backlash among the
general public because if that is the best they can do then their review bomb attempt is in big trouble when the real reviews starts rolling in

I was just now watching an old episode of Community on the telly, in which Abed dates a girl called Rachel.

Duh, I can't believe I didn't recognise Brie the first time. I totally blame it on those glasses, lol.

I periodically watched Community and may have caught that episode but never thought twice about seeing her there. She's sort of popped up on all these TV shows in between her roles on 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim. Just now realized she was in Trainwreck as Schumer's sister.

Nine times you’ve seen Brie Larson and didn’t even realize it

I liked the longer hair look ......

in the mid credits scene. It was longer and messier and looked better. She should spot this look in future movies
