Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

I thought she was terrific. She embodied the character of Carol Danvers excellently and made me feel connected to the character as she went through her whole journey of discovering who she really was. I also thought that she did a good job of balancing the more serious aspects and the more lighthearted aspects of Carol's personality -- she could be as serious as a soldier is expected to be, but could also easily deliver a lighthearted quip or a sassy remark when the moment called for it. For me, it was a totally believable mix of human warmth and military discipline, and it gave her character a lot of layers and depth.

That is sweet!

Going back to the trolling, I’m thinking Larson should say things less negatively next time. The idea of being interviewed by “too many white men” rephrased as something more positive like “I’m just sticking up for my girls” or “id like to be interviewed by men and women too. Equal representation” or something that makes people less anget and likely to troll?? Idk

She was a Mary-Sue that went Super Sayian in the final 20 minutes of the movie.

Well personally, as a white male, i didn't find her comments racist/sexist/negative or w/e in the slightest. IMO if some people were offended/angered by what she said, that's on them.

Exactly. I make much more inflammatory comments than that! and seeing how touchy people can get with her really makes me think about how to stay positive when you want to contribute to a cause like hers

Curious how some people can see inclusivity as exclusivity. I would have thought the "wanting more seats on table" would have been sufficient but I guess not.

I already like her more than I liked Thor and Doctor Strange after their first solo outings. I'm looking forward to seeing her and Strange lead the next wave of the MCU and seeing her interact with Cap, Widow and Banner in Endgame.

The internet has killed film criticism.

"I didn't like the movie, because Mary Sue! SJW! Feminism! Pandering! Identity politics! PC agenda!" Meaningless buzzwords upon meaningless buzzwords. It's all so tiresome and stupid.

Also speaking of Super Saiyan... Goku is a Mary Sue. Every time he loses he becomes stronger, everyone but his enemies love him, he's always right about everything... total Mary Sue.

Well, kind of true. Because, as per the current definition, a Mary Sue is a female lead character.

This SJW stuff drives me crazy.
People go nuts over the fact that Star Wars has gone all SJW,
totally ignorant of the fact that they can watch 6 films in the saga with male leads anytime that they want to.
Unbelievable.

I didn't find her remarks offensive either, and I'm a white male too. I think some people are just hypersensitive and nitpicky about issues like this.

Personally, I thought she was fantastic. She was able to capture the feeling of being controlled and yet your sassiness and personality is brimming to the surface. There were some great acting too especially in that backyard scene. One underrated scene is the one where she’s reviewing the case folder. Subtle sublime acting IMO.
