Burn Notice

Almost worth a chuckle.

But it just points out how blatantly unfunny SNL is now. :(

Weirdly enough, Aziz Ansari also made a joke about how only weird people watch Burn Notice in his standup special like two weeks ago. Apparently, the mainstream finds it mysterious, even though it's getting plenty of viewers and pretty widespread acclaim. Weird.

I do. That's always been my problem with this show. I like it, but it's a little too clean for show about a spy.

It seems fine to me. It's about a spy working within the confines of civilian life, after all. He can't kill very often or the cops would be on his ass, and USA isn't going to have tons of gratuitous sex or anything.

It's perfect the way it is. Shows you don't need tons of Tarantino violence to make something awesome.

Micheal also doesn't want to kill anymore, whether he admits it to himself or not. Look how far his 'agent' had to push him before Mike took him out.

I think he'd kill to protect himself (in say a direct fight with no other options). Definitely for Sam, Fi, Nate, and Maddie, though.

Killing in the heat of battle is clearly okay with Mike. He tries to avoid it if possible, but if the only option is to shoot or be shot, he'll lethally shoot someone. He's not naive enough to believe that zero casualties is always an option.

The business with Strickler was much more personal and scary to me. Mike wanted that dude dead for what he did to Fi. I saw the episode again in December and it hit me a lot harder then than it did when I was watching the first time. That's a side of Mike we've only really seen that one specific time. Well, maybe with Brennen too, but he couldn't do anything about it then.

That's one of my favorite moments of the show (there's like one per episode for me, so that's not saying much I admit :o ). Seeing him go all cold and clinical after flipping out...Donovan's awesome. Plain and simple.

just watched last night episode, Michaels reaction and facial expresion on hearing the news of his brother getting married was awesome.

The way Larry said Mike was "back in action" makes me wonder exactly what they did during operations together. If there's one guy Mike needs to outright execute, it's Larry. He'd be saving a whole lot of lives in the process.

like Michael said there is a part of him that is as cold blood a killer as Dead Larry but being around the people he love makes that go away. For the life of me I have no idea why he doesn't kill dead Larry already. IF there is anybody who should be dead its probably that guy.

The reason is simple.

It's in the script.

And then Larry couldn't be a recurring character anymore. ;)

Can anyone explain how Michael screwed Larry and I think Carlos in the end?

Also, what about the bomb Michael asked Fi to make?

It's scary how effectively Larry manipulated Michael. I agree with you guys that Michael shouldve killed him. I think letting him live is going to cost him a lot. He's not interested in getting Mike to work with him anymore and I think hes going to look to hurt anyone close to him as revenge when he comes back. Btw, how does Nate know about Larry?

I actually thought Michael was going to slit his throat with that badass knife when he was goading him into killing Carlos.

He screwed Larry out of the money when he gave it to Carlos. And he set Carlos up as a counterfeiter, using the fake bills Larry originally set him up with. The "special" bomb wasn't a bomb but it had counterfeit ink which was evidense that could be used against Carlos.

One question , how did Nate know about Larry ? was Nate in the last episode that involved Larry ? I dont remember seeing him in that episode.

That would've been a little bit contradictory to the episode's theme, which was that Mike has that cold, killer side to him but is able to overcome it and keep it in check. Killing Larry wouldn't have solved the problem Larry had put him in; it would be killing for the sake of pure revenge. I mean, yeah, in a real-world sense it would've been smarter to kill Larry just so he could stop making problems for Mike, but thematically, Mike kind of had to let him live.

I'd really like to see Robert Knepper play the next bad guy in the next season....just saying

I've been thinking that sooner or later someone is going to go after Maddie to get back at Mike, and then we'll really see the cold killer.

I want Jon Hamm to play a villain.

Yeesh. I almost feel sorry for whoever comes after Maddie.

Lol, if its the Jon Hamm from Hamm and Buble, I think Michael's going to have his toughest foe yet.

Jon drinking champagne with bits of ham in the glass will be mandatory when they meet face to face for the first time.

It was a great episode tonight. :awesome: at Sam saying lines like Horactio Caine, sunglasses included. Sucks that there's only two episodes left, but, both are sure to be promising.

That was one of the best parts of the episode.
& yes, I agree. I'll officially have nothing to watch on Thursday nights once it's over.

Sam channelling his inner-Caruso was great.

So who does everyone think is on the plane? I'm thinking its an old character. However, they've promised a big suprise when they showed him. Who do we know who would fit the profile? I'm thinking Carla is somehow alive, but the body looked more like a male build (though we only saw shoulders and up and prison oranges can be misleading) or Victor. John Mahoney's character is a possibility as well, but how did he go from being the head of that secret organization to a top secret prisonor in a matter of months?
