I feel what you're saying and you're right, Corp.
However, perhaps Eddie just doesn't find Evan intrisincly engaging as Hank is for whatever reason - it is an everyday reality within families. I mean Evan's really starting to mature alot in the 2nd season whereas at first, he was a goofy slacker.
Perhaps as time goes on, Evan can effectively expound upon his father his feelings of neglect and lack of admiration in a future ep to resolve one of many hurdles in this strained relationship. The writers have to string things along at a decent pace.
