Burn Notice

Here's a question that last night's episode brought up for me. If Fi has such a conscious and is afraid of harming innocents then why did she have no problem joining the IRA and becoming an arms dealer ?

Who says Fi has an overactive conscience? She's got a soft spot for kids, it seems, but that's about it. If you're talking about her being all snarky with Michael whenever he goes a little off the deep end to get close to the likes of Gilroy, I think her lack of conscience explains that perfectly: Part of why she loves Michael is because he's managed to remain an honorable man even though he's in a similar line of work to her. She admires that about him, so it's a disappointment when he proves that sometimes he can be as bad as the rest of their compatriots.

If I am to believe that this Simon guy is the baddest guy michael has ever faced and rivals michaels genius ,then I hope Simon threatens someone close to michael, otherwise I am just going to assume that this guy is another Carla or Victor that michael will eventually defeat ( I mean obviously he will : ) ) but what Im hoping Im for in a future episode is a senario where Simon straps a bomb to Fi's or to Nates chest ( much like he did to Gilroy) and michael cannot do anything to help her ( or something similar to to that)

Remember in last night's episode when she risked her life to get that guy in the cage out of the burning building ? Sounds to me like she has a conscience. She should've let the guy burn because he was pretty messed up. She's worked with Mike for years , so him going all darkside every so often shouldn't be a surprise to him.

Remember when he said, "We're the same"? No overactive conscience required there; she saw herself in him and didn't believe he deserved to die because it'd basically be like condemning herself for her own terrible acts done out of grief for her sister.

She still should've let him die because he's obviously not looking for redemption. Sure Fiona is a former terrorist and arms dealer , but at least she's trying to right the wrongs of her past.

I suppose. But the way I saw it, it wasn't really about him at all. It was about Fi and what her letting him die would mean to her.

I dunno. I don't really get Fi sometimes either because she's often quite times sanctimonious and acts righteous though she doesn't seem at all regretful of the time she spent in the IRA. She was so protective of a bureacrat that ARGUABLY did the devil's work for a big evil corporation.

I just wonder when this shift started that she decided she didn't want to basically blowing people up and doing **** that the IRA does.

Looks like John Mahoney is coming back for the season finale.

I liked seeing Carlos Bernard is in this episode, but his latin accent just sounded off. I think Bernard is latin, but he just did not do that accent well.

That's why I find it hard to sympathize with Fi . Just because her sister got murdered doesn't justify joining the IRA and then later on becoming an arms dealer. All this good stuff she's doing isn't going to negate all the bad stuff she's done for decades.

In fairness, we don't actually know what she did in the IRA. Michael was a spy who tried to avoid killing if at all possible; Fiona may have been part of a cell that tried to minimize casualties or something. She seemed pretty disgusted with that other ex-IRA dude's shrapnel-tastic signature bomb, which was clearly designed primarily to kill or maim people. Maybe she tried to control the violence her cell employed more by using explosives in unpopulated areas. She doesn't necessarily have to be the absolute worst of the worst the IRA has to offer, is what I'm saying.

Lost power with 5 minutes left. Last thing I saw was Michael pulling the gangster out of the burning building. Anyone fill me in.

He goes to do his job with Gilroy but finds Gilroy bleeding in his car with a bomb wired to him. Turns out Gilroy just took a job from a guy named Simon to put Michael in a position where Simon could get at him. Michael gets out of the car just as it explodes. So now Gilroy's dead and Michael's got some mysterious new baddie on his case.

Simon's got an asset as well.

About Fi: Did she really kill people for the IRA? I was always under the impression that she just blew property up.

I found myself saying "oh ****" to Gilroy going boom. :hehe:

We don't know either way because they've never really gone into exactly what she did with the IRA. I imagine she killed some people, but I think it's a big leap to assume she was totally amoral and blowing up civilians or whatever while she was with the IRA.

You know something I would not be at all suprised if Brennen is somehow connected to all this

I imagine Brennan is strangling cats left and right waiting for the day he gets his revenge on Michael.

:awesome:

I forget, was Brennan the bastard played by Dutch from the Shield?

LOL at another Michael deep cover scheme blowing up in his face. First the greasy agent from the first half of this season and now Gilroy. Wish Michael would get a ****ing clue.
