The Dark Knight Burton on TDK - kind of

I hated when Batman Begins came out, people all of sudden had this backlash against Burton. Which is by the way, a big cliche with SOME fanboys or geeks.

Burton is a good director. Not as good as he was before b/c I don't like John August, one of the most generic writers out there. Honestly, he's not impressing thus far and Burton needs a new writer.

honestly i liked burtons movies more then BB(returns is probably my favorite)

BB was better than the Burton films. But, there was no other feeling seeing Batman on screen in B89 plus all the hype that surrounded it especially as a kid. That's something BB will never have to me, but BB is the B89 to the kids of today.

I think that works both ways, though. A lot of people still prefer Burton's films to Nolan's, and were heard to say things along the lines of "Begins sucked, bring back Burton," and that was sort of an affront to those of us who loved Begins.

I am not a tremendous fan of Burton's body of work, but I like the guy, he makes movies that nobody else can make, and that is one of the world's coolest jobs.

As for my own views, you know... Batman '89 was exactly what I wanted in 1989. Batman Begins is exactly what I wanted in 2005. I am sort of over Batman '89, but it was my favorite movie for a long time and I will always appreciate it for what it was, and for what Burton did for us Batman fans by making that great movie.

I own three copies of it, two VHS tapes (my old worn-out pan & scan, and a newer, barely-used widescreen edition) and one DVD (the original crappy snapper-case no-extras release). I also own the soundtrack, both on tape and on CD, and it was and is one of my favorite film scores.

Have I mentioned lately that I'm a Batman guy? :D

Whether or not you liked his Batman flicks, you have to admit, the guy has class.

He knows Batman is bigger than him or anything he's done. He's actually quite the humble guy, and not the moron/weirdo/jerk most people would make him out to be.

Well, he is a little bit weird, but I don't know anyone who isn't. :hyper:

A 'little'? The dude has an afro. And he's whiter than white.

it's not a 'fro. it's just a big tangled mess of hair.
kind of like Robert Smith's or Edward Scissorhands'. yes, there's a reason why Edward was so white and had such big hair like that.

Ok...then what about Burton's funky glasses? No one wears glasses like that. :wow:

they're just oversized sunglasses.
they're like the ones Bono wears only...twice the size.

What about Burton's stuttering? And his tendancy to wave his hands around inexplicably?

you find that a lot with directors. they have their images speak for them, they're not good explaining things with words so they use visuals.

Bryan Singer stutters like you wouldn't believe.

i move my hands around a lot when i talk....but i'm just a jittery person.

I actually do both. I'm just running out of straws to grasp. :(

i manage not to stutter but i'm antsy like you wouldn't believe. that along with my high pitched voice has given me the nickname of "squirrel." :csad:

Is it physically possible for Bono to be seen without sunglasses? Or would he just implode on the spot?

And me! Marilyn Monroe did as well, so we've got ourselves a pretty kickass group of people.

I don't intend to turn this into an arguement. But the number of people who get offended everytime someone mentions Burton because Begins was a gift from god and Burton's films just soil the good name of Begins far outweigh any Burton fanboys. That's all I'm going to say about that.

That's the biggest load of bull-cookies I've read on these boards in a long time. Got any facts to back that up? No. I didn't think so.
