Burton's BATMAN 3 and what you know about it and theories and such etc.

Meh, I like what they did in the films like Doctor Baywatch said, but honestly, I think some suits are better off adapted, like X-Men and Batman.

One of the things I think Burton got right about B89 was the suit, anything else would have looked goofy. Ditto with BB, Nolan got the right look for the suit what with the armour and stuff. BB explains the suit a lot better then B89 IMO.

Really, what's to explain? Outside of choosing the Bat image, the suit doesn't "need" explaining. I mean, just because Nolan added an explaination to it (when there really wasn't even one in the comics) doesn't mean it was necessary. Armor is armor. We don't need to know what kind. If it blocks bullets in B89 (which it does), then it blocks bullets. Etc...

I meant I find the explanation of what it is more satisfying, also with how he went about re-designing it and even procuring it. I prefer the design of the B89 suit, but the explanation given in BB, is what I was looking for personally.

And for me, the suit does need explaining. It's a major part of the Batman mythos and I liked the way that whole scene was put together in BB. In B89 and the sequels he just had the suit. But then since I suppose it wasn't a Y1 type scenario it's not that important...

the batsuit needs to be explained, even if not a year1 movie and burtons batmans and schumachers batmans dropped the ball on that one (among other things)

nolan all the way

Agreed. Burton's Batman is mysterious, thus it's better if it isn't explained. It's far more dramatic, and effective, for example, to have the Batmobile just appear when Vicki and Batman run out of the museum......than explain where it comes from and what it is.

"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

Meh, I liked the explanations in BB, they worked for me. Not everyones cup of tea apparently...

Yeah, obviously not. So don't worry about it. The Hype's easier to be a part of if you're not concerned with how people view your opinion. Just voice your opinion and if someone doesn't agree, forget about it. Trust me, it look a long time for me to learn that lesson, but I did.

I'm new to this community, but i've seen a lot of hostility in The Dark Knight section when someone says something bad about BB or the new stuff.

Get used to it, unless you have about ten thousand posts, no-one cares what you say...

And welcome to the Hype!

That's the way the Nolan film forums are. Probably best to either be brave and face it, or stay out of there.

Sadly it is meant to be ironic lol, but there is an element of truth in it. I sometimes miss my childhood days when I didn't have any issues with Batman and there was none of this debate about Burton or Nolan.

Just the good old fashoned Bat-Tsui.

I see your point. For me, I really miss the time when Batman just faced big adventures and not every bit was so overanalyzed, you know "Oh Batman is teh crazy" and all this stuff. He was just a hero, doing the right thing. Not every villains had a death toll of 1 billion people and was a crazy psychopath and there were no discussions about "visions" and all this stuff. I mean, if I would put a pig into a bat costume would that be my vision of Batman or what? When authors were actually trying to write stories for the character and not bent him to fit into their vision and story (this is actually a problem most comic book characters have today).

Two Face- Billy Dee Williams
The Riddler- Robbin Williams
NO ROBIN!!!!
Catwoman- Michelle Pfeiffer (only in flashbacks and at the end)

I agree, Batman can sometimes work as a much simpler character. It's part of the media culture we live in though, everyones wants a bigger and badder character. Batman was, well I on't say better, but much easier to love when he was simpler.

And when he danced.

It wasn't really a recognisable Robin, as with both Burton Batman's it was his on unique vision that wasn't really in-keeping with the comics. Could have been interesting, but I get the feeling it wouldn't have worked and would have come across as kind of lame. Not that Schumacher did it better...

Burton never wanted Nicholson as Lex Luthor he wanted Kevin Spacey. He said so in his book Burton on Burton, and I also have quotes from Kevin Spacey talking about his meeting with burton for Superman Lives. I'll have post it later if I can find it. Just a sidenote Burton also was never going to use Kevin Smith's full Superman Lives script, only just a few concept from it like using Brainiac, Doomsday and the death and return of Superman. The script is on the internet on simplyscript.com it's by Dan Gilroy with the same title.

the gilroy script is just all the worst parts of smith's second draft (after all the alterations demanded by jon peters) coupled with gilroy not understanding a thing about the character.

Burton's Batman 3 would probably mean no Schumacher take over of the series and no Batman Begins....however, I have no doubt a more realistic version of Batman would have occured around this point anyway, as it's the style at the moment (see Casino Royale, Jason Bourne, etc).

Heck, here's the Forever photoshoped that Luke from batmannews.de started and I completed :

Wow, great manip for the poster.

Why does Robin Williams look ******ed?

Good manip though, just Riddler looks really weird. And I don't get why Robin is wearing sunglasses... Is it sunny?
