World Burton's Concept Art

Yeah I agree. This movie woulda been really really cool.
The cast was also pretty cool
Superman: Cage
Brainiac: Tim Allen (wtf)
Lex: Kevin Spacey
Jimmy: Chris Rock
Lois: Courteney Cox (would been great)
Unspecified role: Michael Keaton

Does anyone know what Keatons role woulda been

I remember reading that Keaton was going to cameo as Bruce Wayne during Superman's funeral.

I would have loved to have seen this movie. Talk about a reboot! I think superman's universe is big enough and well established for different stylistic stories such as this... awesome.

I doubt it but maybe they should adapt it to an elseworlds graphic novel cause it is very stylish.

A dame shame Burton did not get a shot at this!:(.

I was just looking this up,and man I wish this movie got made.It would not have been faithful, but it would have been awesome.

I don't think it would have been very good in that Superman doesn't even fly... you have to at LEAST show Superman flying, that's one of the core elements behind him. Sure you could have him run around but that gets so annoying

The fact that they weren't going to even show flying scenes was pathetic.

Regardless I would have still been incredibly interested in seeing this film. I wonder if they could ever do an animated version of it, or even just a comic book version of it, with production designs and all of how the whole thing was going to play out.

Wouldn't it be so cool if Warners funded an elsewhere or otherworlds type film line - like we have one Superman coming out, but then this was like a funded huge project as well set in an alternate universe. I would have really liked to see how Nic Cage would have played Superman and just the overall look of Krypton, the world and the production design on this would have been killer that's for sure. Still I can't get over how ****** and stupid the idea was of not even showing Superman fly...

It's like why even bother giving Thor a hammer or how about we don't show Spider-Man not swinging around at all or shoot webs...

I totally forgot about the Superman not flying nonsense. An Otherworlds film series would be cool though.

Superman WOULD have flown. John Peter just didn't want to see a bluescreen shot of an actor on wires. Kevin Smith solved this by having Supes fly as a red blur.

yes that flashes off screen... It's a peripheral shot of him literally turning into a stupid red streak with less than a micro-second on camera...

I want to see Superman bloody fly, not whish pan out of the camera in a stupid effect to fly. Superman has to be SHOWN flying...

Very interesting art. If this film would've been done, IMO, it would've been a good Elseworld's Superman film.

From a visual perspective, I think this looks stunning.

And people are in gripes about a black strap over the star on Captain America's chest.

I actually like the dark blue alien-esque suit with the blood-red cape and silver emblem.

I don't like it for Superman but if they ever make "The Sentry" into a film...

You have to respect Burton's vision he had for Superman, it was really visually stunning and really unique, yes very unorthodox for Superman but if this came out in the late 90's it wouldve been huge, possibly comparing it visually as the 90's Avatar even though i personally dont like Avatar the visual effects were well done, and i think this movie wouldve been superior to that and it was gonna be released late 90's isnt that insane, Burton is great gotta respect the mans work.

thank God this was not made - while the "super suit" looks interesting, it is not Super Man.

Holy **** that suit looks terrible.

Part of me wishes the movie happened. Just to see how really awful it would of been.

Oh yeah. If there were a way to find an alternate universe where this had actually been made, I'd love to visit for a day, just to check it out. Just out of morbid curiousity. I mean, it has to be more exciting than SR, so it wouldn't be a complete waste of time...

I don't mean to sound condescending but I'm probably a bigger Superman fan than most around here; yet I would've had no issue with this movie. Then again I'm a person who has NEVER had a problem with different interpretations of my favorite characters (Superman & Batman).

Actually I always welcome it. It DOES NOT discontinue MY particular favorite version, that version is always around. It's just fun & interesting to see how the basic themes are inverted and adapted by different artists. I'd accepted SR even if I didn't find it to be such a plodding piece of cinema. It wasn't the concepts that turned me off (jerkish Supes, a different love triangle from Clark/Superman/Lois, superbastard, Lex real estate schemes etc.) it was the execution.

Looking at all this art I wonder what Burton would do with a New Gods film project visually if he ever tackled such an endeavor.

What people need to have in mind is that this suit would`ve been what the black suit in the comics was after he died. Something he uses to restore his powers...
