Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

BOps 2 is my favourite so great news for me!

So, Deus Ex, eh?

Next you're telling me that Master Chief is going to be the main protagonist.

So much creativity.

Deus Ex didn't invent cybernetics, augmentation, or the future. BLOPS II had a futuristic campaign two years before Deus Ex was rebooted, and was probably worked on for at least a year or two before that in development. The general idea was already there.

Dude, Deus Ex is about augmentations and nano technology since the first game, and the game was never rebooted, Human Revolution is a prequel released before BO2 was even announced.

Also, BO2 had nothing that teased BO3's new technology. Deny as much as you want, but this new game has nothing of originality, it's a Deus Ex rip off just by that trailer.

I'm aware, but the franchise was pretty much dead up until Human Revolution came out. So yeah, no one was referencing that, at least not directly. And from a canon standpoint, it may be a prequel, but from a franchise standpoint it's basically a reboot.

And you are right about the release date, I was thinking of the Director's Cut.

I generally do deny things I don't consider true. I'm not saying there's not similarities, but as I said, Deus Ex didn't invent this stuff. It was a staple of the genre well before that series existed. Besides, by this little trailer, we really don't know exactly what the game will be like. It's pretty much a big kneejerk to deem it a "rip off" at this point, especially since, again, BLOPS II already had a futuristic angle to it.

Why? That's like saying that the Star Wars prequels were a reboot from a "franchise standpoint". Human Revolution is very connected with the first Deus Ex, but the reason is a spoiler, which is supposed to be explored more in Mankind Divided. So yeah, I disagree with you here.

It didn't invent, but it successfully managed to create a good lore about it, so Deus Ex is pretty much about augmentations as it gets.

Gimme a few seconds, I'll find a trailer from Human Revolution's marketing campaign so that you can see how much close they are to each other.

Hell, the second and the third one are.. Wow.

Star Wars isn't a good example to use here, since it's always been an active franchise throughout various mediums. Think more Star Trek.

Not arguing against that, but that's not my point.

I see what you and others are getting at, but eh, honestly I think it's more of an argument for what I'm saying, because while they obviously have similarities and seem to exploring a lot of the same themes, the actual tone and narrative those trailers have are pretty different. And besides, as I said, that BLOPS III trailer gives us no real insight into the actual game to begin with. We really don't know how important augmentation will be, what kind of function it'll have, how it will play into the story, whether we will have a split narrative like II, etc. Lots of factors. Maybe it will be a total ripoff, but deeming it so as of now is rather narrow-sighted, especially since the BLOPS subseries of COD has already set up devices for futuristic settings.

Again, if Human Revolution had zero connection with the first Deus Ex, I would be inclined to agree with you

Sure. It's a little early to judge, but I can't help but feel that way. Speaking of tones and narratives, there was a part in BO3's trailer where, if I'm not mistaken, people are protesting against augmentations and chasing who are augmented, that's basically the tone of HR and MD, the resemblance is uncanny, that's why it's hard to me to be open minded about the new COD.

BO2 was what started this new COD futuristic vibe, but even then, it wasn't that much futuristic at all. BO3 has a huge time gap from BO2, so things evolved to quickly since the antecessor came out, because that game never teased any of what BO3 seems to offer.

I'm not getting excited for this, COD has been disappointing for years now, but I won't go all hatin' over it.

Eh, I think you're looking at it all wrong. You're just going from BO2 to BO3. But if you look at it from BO2, to Ghosts, to AW, then to BO3, you'll see it's a pretty natural progression into the future.

The title of Black Ops just tells us that it's Treyarch's game.

So...? They aren't related games lol.

Ghost isn't futuristic, it's technology is behind BO2's, so there isn't a progression here.

So Andrew it seems you don't care about COD or the series from what I gather from your posts so why even come in here to discuss? Just to repeat your dislike over and over? You don't have to buy the game or play it. You said you're not getting excited for this and COD has been disappointing for years. So why bother with coming in to a COD thread and repeating yourself over and over.

Moving past the "rip off" stuff, looks like we've got some details leaked about BLOPS III from GI, I believe.

Biggest take back for me is the return of 4 player campaign co-op. Nothing has been said about platforms, though most are assuming cross gen. The "official" reveal of the game is still slated for tomorrow as far as I'm aware, so we'll probably find out then.

EDIT: And apparently a date of November 6th was just leaked by a Dutch retailer, god bless them.

Over and over? You don't even know me, and you don't know what I like. No need to get ******** because I don't share the same view as you. If you enjoyed the piece of **** that Ghost was, good thing for you then, you like everything that they throw at your face. See? Don't make false assumptions about me, thank you.

Just because I'm not excited, does that mean that I'll never play it? That's just so stupid, I'll go wherever I want, this isn't a "Love BO3 Thread".

I'm a fan of COD since the first game on PC, what's the problem if the majority of the recent games minus BO2 have been disappointing for me? Do you have a problem with it?

I'm not even saying that game is going to suck, I just pointed the trailer's similarities with Deus Ex when even the game's official twitter joked about it.

Deal with it.

I'm blown away we're getting a beta for this. The beta for COD4 sold me as the halo killer back in the day, and it was endlessly useful for the final game. So excited we're getting one.

I know there was a beta for COD4 and WaW, but I think that was the last one?

But anyways, I'm glad we're getting one. I think it'll help out with the launch connections.

It will be good if it's an actual beta not just an extended free demo.

Are the Exos back? Looks to be one in the image, I'm not sure tho.

The movements will be the same, it's in the article, I'm just not sure if it'll be called "exo movements", but it's essentially the same thing.

Gosh I'm falling behind on CoD games now. Still haven't played Ghosts. How many games has there been in between? Advanced Warfare, any others?
