I watched the scene with Professor X talking to his younger self; Even when the whole world had been destroyed around him, when mutants were being exterminated and Magneto had all but been proved right, he still had hope. He still had hope that there could be a better path for mutant and human alike. I LOVED this scene.

I've not seen this Professor X for a long time, not with all his many dark secrets coming out every year (and another soon in Original Sin it seems). I've missed this Charles.

This + the whole ending really got me nostalgic for everything I used to love about the X-Men comics! Nowadays, it's all about war and death. A large number of X-Men have no qualms killing, Cyclops is practically the same as Mags always was (trying to stop a "war" that he's thus perpetuating), and I don't think the writers even understand Professor X's dream anymore.

Why can't we go back to simpler, happier times? Why can't the X-Men be a real family again? Why can't the X-Men have hope again?

So much has changed now in comics as a whole. I really did like Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers as it was about humans and mutants working together to try and keep Xavier's dream alive. It'll be a long time I think till we get a happy, simple comic that strays away from all the dark and bleak storylines.

I have not read comics in about 10 years. I can say that I never liked Xavier becoming Onslaught. If they are doing more of that, then no thanks.

Yes, it would be nice if they got back to what Xavier originally was meant to be. If that's the case.

I actually think FC and DOFP (as well as 2016's Apocalypse) are going to ultimately change Mystique's personality, if not appearance, in the comics. Until now, she has been important in her role to both Rogue and Nightcrawler in the comics, but on her own is a rather generic henchman-type villain.

I imagine she will be given a lot more grayness and Magneto-styled depth since that is what the movies are doing, which has (shockingly) made her a rather major character to non-fans who aren't familiar with her comic book origins. At least, that is what I suspect will happen.

Charles was allways a little "angry" in the comics, i prefer the version in the films where he's mostly a nice individual.

I feel there are some things the comics can learn from the films but there are also things the films can learn from the comics.

It works both ways.

I stopped following the X-Books during Battle of the Atom. The comics are presently a
mess; hence, I have been buying the older books. To answer the question, yes, the films could provide some guidance for the comics.

I stopped buying the comics around 2006. They became a mess after starting iwth grant morrison run. Esppecilly with going out of their way to make Xavier look like a-hole.
Shortly after house of M I just had enough.

I feel like Marvel doesn't really care about X-Men that much now that they have their big movie properties. This is especially obvious on their 75th Anniversary cover, where there are zero mutants. :o

Yea Marvel doesn't care about the X-Men and it is sad.

They never promoted on their Marvel site or Youtube channel DOFP.
They are killing off Wolverine.
They are focusing on Hawkeye, Avengers, GOTG, and other stuff that Marvel owns.

It is sad. DOFP was awesome and the X-Men as a team are better than the Avengers.

Lets no forget what Marvel did to Spidey in the comics.

To that point...

I love scrapbooking, so last week I was so excited when I found Marvel Comics licensed scrapbook paper at Michael's. I have nephews who are superhero crazy, and I have tons of pictures from both last year's Wolverine screening and the DOFP premiere in NYC this month. So it's perfect...

...except there are NO freaking X-Men in it. 120 pages, nearly half of them are of Spider-Man. Even when you find Wolverine, he's in with the rest of the Avengers, so I can't really use that either. They don't even break up the characters that well in any of it.

That was SO annoying. I wound up not getting it.

They really need to find a way to start merchandising X-Men more. It's ridiculous. They have a new movie out, and the only place you see them in stores is on a few packages of junk food.

Whatever they need to work out with Disney/Marvel, they should just bite the bullet and do it. My nephew LOVES X-Men right now, and it's so frustrating that there aren't any toys. He'd love those.

Very true. A few nights ago I started to reread my comics starting on X-men #1(the original Kirby/Lee). He was quick to give them **** if they were messing around, Iceman got the most of the wrath. :funny:

I can't speak on the recent comics though. I stopped reading around issue #400 of Uncanny.

I could see Marvel trading their cut of the films for full merchandise and use of the word mutant in the MCU. The reason we aren't seeing X-Men toys is because Fox has a share of the movie merch. Fox should consider a Spidey-style exchange if Marvel is just going to veto all potential toys anyway.

I loved seeing the dream again and the message of hope so I agree with you that the comics can learn from that.

I also think the comics should follow the movies lead and turn bishop good again and then bring blink and warpath into the comics again.

You know today I was reading a news article from an idiot who said fan bingbing played new character 'link' and I almost threw my phone out the window

Yeah, and they were pretty much having to survive against some very dangerous things, a little mistake and they would easily die, it was also pretty funny when he would put Angel in very dangerous situations in the training, while everything Jean would have to do is levitate a cube or another little object or put Charles himself more confortable.

I still remember him being very "angry" in even the 70s comics. About modern comics, from what i hear he has a lot of Dark secrets and sides that keeps giving the X-Men trouble.

I think the reason there is so few X-Men merchandises right now is because Fox makes a percentage off X-Men products that Marvel makes, and Marvel/Disney are choosing not to make them due to the strained relationship between the two companies. I think that even since Fox sued Marvel due to the Mutant X TV show, they haven't had a good relationship, and it doesn't help the fact that Fox rejected Marvel's attempt to obtain the rights of Galactus and SS from Fox in exchange of extending DD's rights for Fox. Both movie studios should realize that by becoming partners instead of enemies, both studios could profit off each other. But while I'd like more X-Men merchandises myself, I can see Marvel's position in this conflict.

Since Fox Is making the FF now they aren't going to just give up the FF.

Maybe if Feige would have offered Fox X-Men merchandize rights they would
have been willing to return galactus and Silver Surfer to Disney.

Don't forget Disney come 2020 takes distirbution for star wars Episodes 1-3,5,and 6 from Fox.Disney may have stopped the 3-d rereleases of star wars films to keep Fox from getting any more more from Star Wars.

Even In comics Marvel has been putting X-Men related characters In Avengers
related titles like Wolverine to help bolster Avengers titles. X-Men still sells well
In comics no matter how Marvel sees them today.

Marvel Is killing off Wolverine. That can be seen as a total F-you to Fox.

I am sure marvel Isn't happy for Chris Claremont and Len Wein for cameoing In DOFP. Stan Lee's claims why he hasn't been camoing in Fox marvel film since her cameo In Fantastic Four:Rise of the silver surfer may be BS to cover he has been pressed not to although if he does cameo In FF reboot that can be
disproven. Captain America the first avenger was filmed In England and he did
go there to cameo.

I believe Sony to get Disney to approve merchandise to help sell Amazing SPider-man films gave up all rights to merchandise.
