Nielsen Takes to Twitter
Companies partner for the Nielsen Twitter TV Rating.

by Max Nicholson DECEMBER 17, 2012

Nielsen Company and Twitter announced today a multi-year partnership to establish the "Nielsen Twitter TV Rating," which will deliver a syndicated-standard metric based on Twitter TV chatter. This new agreement is currently slated for the start of the fall 2013 television season in US markets.

"The Nielsen Twitter TV Rating is a significant step forward for the industry, particularly as programmers develop increasingly captivating live TV and new second-screen experiences, and advertisers create integrated ad campaigns that combine paid and earned media," said Steve Hasker, President of Global Media Products and Advertiser Solutions at Nielsen. "As a media measurement leader we recognize that Twitter is the preeminent source of real-time television engagement data."

Over the last couple of years, Twitter has become a staple component in promoting TV shows, with advertisements and hashtags incorporated into the shows themselves. The Nielsen Twitter TV Rating will further complement that initiative, offering TV networks and advertisers a better understanding of TV viewers' social activity.

"Our users love the shared experience of watching television while engaging with other viewers and show talent," said Twitter's VP of Media Chloe Sladden. "Twitter has become the world's digital water cooler, where conversations about TV happen in real time. Nielsen is who the networks rely on to give better content to viewers and clearer results to marketers."

I think this is a step in the right direction

Finally. I'll be so glad when they finally cancel the Mindy Project. CW shows all have the same characters with different premises.

Im just waiting for that day too my friend:cmad:

ALL MY CHILDREN AND ONE LIFE TO LIVE COMING BACK ONLINE.

Location, location, location: PP is planning to produce the shows in Stamford, CT. Studio space and sets are currently being designed.
In a deal between PP and Disney, the licensing fee for AMC was valued at a half-million more than ONE LIFE! Here are the deets:
AMC licensing fees: $4.5M per year through 2014 / $5M 2015-17 / additional $0.5M per year 2018-21.
OLTL licensing fees: $4M per year through 2014 / $4.5M 2015-17 / additional $0.5M per year 2018-21.
Plans are for the shows to be 30 minutes each, four days a week with a recap-type show on Fridays.

Of course, this is all moot cause the rights for these shows to launch online was set to expire end of Jan 2013. But ABC recently gave them to end of Feb 2013. GH may be in trouble...

The question is, if PP is successful in relaunching specifically OLTL, what would that mean for the characters of Todd Manning (Roger Howarth), John McBain (Michael Easton) and Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson), all currently part of the General Hospital cast of characters?
"Prospect Park has the option to give General Hospital notice to cease using those characters," explains an insider.

I hope Hollywood people take notice & dont have their shows on AMC. Because when their main big shows eventually die. They will have nothing & no one should want to work with AMC

AMC is going to be a future example of how to shoot yourself in the foot.

In other news (little late to the party, I know), just heard that with tonight's LEVERAGE finale, the show is now over. :waa: At least they were able to make the ending they'd always planned.

I keep seeing commercials for this stupid little show titled Marvin Marvin on Nick at Nite... God, the ****ty shows this generation's youth have to grow up with...

I pity them. :csad:

I hope AMC and OLTL will get off the ground. I was getting into OLTL and then it was cancelled. I would be willing to give a chance online.

Pilot orders and casting should get started soon. Should be quite something.

Pilot order season is like classic Swedish porn for you Sawyer?

I'm certain Sawyer hasn't seen this (or I wasn't paying attention, but I'm not sure how I could have missed the rage), but

NBC passes on Mockingbird Lane.
