The Dark Knight Capes and Cowls - New Batsuit Discussion Thread

Personal taste is an acceptable reason for likes or dislikes, certainly. If Igle had said "I don't like it,' I would not have said anything. But he said "It looks silly," which is a value judgement that requires real criteria.

Similarly, if I said "I don't like Hockey," that's all there is to it. But if I say "Hockey is silly," then I should be expected to explain why. There is considerable difference between the two statements.
No it all comes down to personal taste and choice, sorry you have a problem with that. I think the manip makes the suit look like something you'd buy from a costume shop in the Village. Silly looking. It doesn't require examination, it's my opinion.

I have explained why this isn't the case. I can't do anything more than that, I guess.

All opinions require examination; they're nothing until tested. Our disagreement is probably similar to why I think "faith" is an insufficient reason to believe anything.

From "the batsuit discussion thread" Saint turned it into "academic discussion on how to make arguements and write on the internets".

Saint, someone said that a manip is stupid/lame/crap/etc. If he cant/wont/doesnt want or know how to make an arguement about it, its his choice. You turned this thread into a piece of crap with your convoluted arguements and your page long posts. Get out!
This is what Saint truly thrives on.

Always attack the argument; never the person.

I apply a standard to my debates. Deal.

And it's my choice to call him on that.

I'm fairly certain your problem with my arguments has nothing to do with convolution. As for my "page long posts," well, frankly, I could not possibly give a damn as to what you think is appropriate length. If long posts bother you, well, that's not really my problem.

Does someone know if he fires the six scallops or just three. Hopefully the first because i can't see batman with a plain gauntlet. The scallops are part of his classic look.
the way it appeared to me (and the way the toy was designed) is that the 2 rows are connected so when they fire the flaten out to something about the size of a batarang

except this isn't a debate, my opinion doesn't require discussion and i've given you far more of a response than I'm required to. I won't even go into the concept of faith. You either have it or you don't.

then simply stop replying to him. you like one, he likes another. both are perfectly fine in their own way. now the 2 of you please stop bickering. everything presented here is opinion and no-one's is inherently better than anyone else's.

Pictures never give said persons justice.

Take a blind date, for example. A friend wants to hook you up with a co-workers, etc. Said friend shows you a picture of him or her. You seem intrigued - yet pick apart some of the photo. "Is his hair really that long?" "She looks a little chubby - I thought you said she worked out?" Etc, etc, etc.

Then when you meet the person - body language, personality, style, charm - all that - comes to life. Then and only then, I think, does a person make the proper assessment.

Agreed. I never read posts longer than a few paragraphs and I laugh at long winded diatribes or line by line quoted analysis as I scroll through a page. Its....a....comic....book....character. Hardly deserving of an academic discussion which makes it all the more humorous when you see how serious some posters take this stuff.

You would think they were analyzing Napoleon's against all odds victory at Austerlitz, Mao Tse-tung's meteoric rise to leader of the communist party of China, or the flawed back door dealing of the US in the Iran Contra Affair. Instead its about nitpicking a damn rubber batsuit. LOL.

this debate will go on until the end of time, and I will enjoy viewing it and putting in my opinion when necessary.

Heh, I like your analogy. Unfortunately we're about to embark on the second date and she looks less attractive than the first date for the most part. She does look more flexible though. :wow:

To each is own.

My style, if by the third date she doesn't fit the bill, in all areas - I cut her from the team.

So with that said, TDK is the third date. If you still hold the same opinions, cut it from the team.

Just for the sake of diversity, the all-or-mostly cloth manips weren't the only ones I posted. Simply something like this is already a great improvement on the TDK suit. I may do another one later where the undersuit is plainer too - either smooth like neoprene or textured like the TDK mesh, just without all thise straps and tendons.

As for my other manips "not looking ptotective" - neither does a cotton shirt over a bulletproof vest. Yet strangely, it still stops the bullets.

Now, this manip looks very cool. A great compromise.

By the way, I know there have been other wetsuits brought up as examples of how a Batsuit could look before, but I don't think this one has been posted before and I think it's particularly cool:

It's still seems silly to have pieces that strap on to the arms. You'd think Bats would want as few steps as possible when putting on the suit.

Your post would have merit if this were - 1974, I guess. But, it's not, so - :o

I actually have that wet suit...
I disassembled it to see how it was made to reconstruct
my new Bat suit.
I have been working on it for a year.

It is the PERFECT idea for a bat suit.
Far more flexable than any studio made suits that cost way to much....
and it looks better also.:word:

:batman:
:supes:

Thats the only thing that bothers me about the new suit. Being as realistic as Nolan wants it, the BB suit looked way easier to get on and off than the new one, it seems by the time he'd get the bloody thing on, he'd be too late to help where he was needed.

This is one of the few manips that I think looks pretty good.

I'm sorry but I see no reason for an extensive academic discussion of the batsuit unless you are using the batsuit to apply for a design patent categorized as secret and are structuring the specification and claims of the patent to be as inclusive as possible while trying to avoid prior art.

I like the original cowl alot better, I hate the way this one looks. I like how the neck and top is one piece, but the facial expression is Blah!

The neck and helmet are seperate for the first time. Explain what you mean by one piece.

In the manip, the only thing I like about the cowl and neck is its one piece, thats what I meant, was about the manip of the suit a few posts back. The actual suit itself I wish they were one piece, but I like how the top part of the cowl looks anyways, I just think the neck looks kinda overdone.

Ah, but we do. See how that works? It's like a Chinese finger puzzle, I know.
