Does someone know if he fires the six scallops or just three. Hopefully the first because i can't see batman with a plain gauntlet. The scallops are part of his classic look.

Why do you take people that dislike that costume so personal? Not everyone is gonna like it.

Can you explain what, precisely, in my post indicated I was taking anything "personally"? I simply asked that he explain his comments.

From the TV spot it looks to be more than three.

Now that I watch it again yes it seems it shots all six bummer.

production designer:"Oh chris I think he should only throw 3 so he keeps his regular 3 which are part of his iconic look"

Nolan: "no everything must be practical forget about the look six is better we need a good use for those scallops so he will shot all of them.

production designer: "but then he'll be left with no scallops the gauntlets wouldn't look as cool"

Nolan: "Do you think I care about things looking cool! look the pants on the batsuit I still haven't figured out what purpose does the maze design serves! but who cares it looks techi so its gotta be for something right?

*Production designer rolls his eyes*

I like the shooting gauntlets.

Adds another use to an otherwise useless aspect to the suit. Batman Begins actually managed to make the gaunlets usefull too. I can only remember BATMAN having done that, by making the gaunlets capable to defend and deflect too, but never using the scallops though.

I gotta say, I do like the Batsuit way more than I like The Joker's look.
Way more.

I use to dislike the Batsuit and dislike the Joker look.

Now I dislike the Batsuit and like the Joker look.

Hate the cluttered design and on top of that, the old cowl(just streamlined more) just doesn't fit the new suit.

The cowl is the thing I like the most about the new suit. That and the fact that I think Batman will appear more nimble despite his suits complexity.

Yeah.

Now no one can complain about not turning his head, even though he could in BB.

Yeah.

He could sort of I agree, but not completely b/c the cowl was still attached to the neck. In B89-B&R the cowl and chest peice were basically one piece even though there may have been technical division they effectively functioned as one and were thick. In BB the neck was clearly seperate from the chest, but not the head. And now in TDK the neck, chest, and head are all unconnected.

I really don't like it. In the context of a live action film it looks silly.

How so? It's essentially the BEGINS suit with a slightly less dark hue. The BEGINS suit itself looked gray pretty often in the movie.

Did you guys see that Lucius Fox added some improvements to Batman's gauntlets ? The blades are retractable & they shoot out . It shown in the new tv spot .

I think their cool, their almost like mini-batarang .

Explain by what criteria it looks silly. Also, are the similar costumes used in other superhero movies silly? Examples include Daredevil, the X-Men, Spider-Man, and hell, even Harry's Goblin costume in Spider-Man 3.

No because the X-men suits made sense. Spider-man works because it's supposed to be something designed on the cheap by a teenager. The Batman costume in the comics looks the way it does for the sake of expediency, meaning it's something that can be drawn quickly and is easy to replicate by multiple artist.
For a film version of Batman, acharacter who is essentially an urban commando, I've always liked the idea of the armored suit.
Lets keep a few things straight here. Batman isn't scary in the comics because "He looks like a bat" because he doesn't.The reason why Batman is feared is based on his skills as a crime fighter, his reputation as a hero. He's an urban legend when done well, where the rumors are more effective than fact.
That being the case from a purely visual veiw, while the suit doesn't meet fan ******* expectations, I think it's a great looking costume.

Ha! I would've left that bit out.

The thing is, though, is that a lot of it isn't just 'fan wankery;' it's generally a badly designed suit. From the manbra to the subway-map legs to - well, on and on.

That's the one thing I didn't like about the Spider-man suit. The raised webbing was a distraction for me.

Well me too. But I was referring to how you described it as something cheap a teenager would make. It looks waaay to professional from the detailing to the actual materials used.

No because the X-men suits made sense.
Explain how the X-Men suits made sense in a way that Lujho's suit does not.

Spider-man works because it's supposed to be something designed on the cheap by a teenager.
Oh, please. If they wanted it to look like it was made by a cheap teenager, they failed.

The Batman costume in the comics looks the way it does for the sake of expediency, meaning it's something that can be drawn quickly and is easy to replicate by multiple artist.
So? How, precisely, does this make the Lujho's mock-up "silly?"

This, too, does not explain how Lujho's mock-up is silly.

Nor does this.

I didn't ask for your reasons for liking the existing suit (because liking the existing suit is not the issue), or your thoughts on the reasons Batman is scary. What I asked is for you to explain by what criteria Lujho's mock up looks, as you described, "silly," especially while other comparable film costumes are not. You haven't explained that.

It's a badly designed suit TO YOU. Others see it as a good design that is fitting to the Batman character, especially the one that exists in Nolan's movie-verse.

I am still having a hard time figuring out how the chest piece looks like a bra. The legs like a subway map or puzzle ok, but a bra...really??
