A Spartacus fan favorite is coming to The CW’s Arrow as a major supervillian.

Nick Tarabay (Star Trek Into Darkness) has landed a multi-episode role as Digger Harkness (aka Captain Boomerang), EW can exclusively report.

In the DC Comics, Boomerang/Harkness is a recurring foe of the Flash whose signature weapons are specialized boomerangs that he wields with incredible skill. On the page, he has also been associated with the Suicide Squad. On Arrow, Harkness will be a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers.

The character will be introduced in the seventh episode of the upcoming third season, and then continue in the eighth episode — which is when spin-off star The Flash crosses over into Starling City.

Bless the casting directors. This is seriously so great.

:atp:

That's four Spartacus actors and four Prison Break actors so far. They need to up their game on the Doctor Who front. Two just isn't enough.

Some more "Supernatural" actors would be great too. Wishful thinking.

This sounds cool. I'd love for the show to bring in Sportsmaster.

Looks like he'll move over to Flash after his appearances here.

Frankly it seems like Captain Boomerang works better as an Arrow villain then a Flash villain. I can see a guy with boomerangs being a threat to a guy with arrows, I don't see how a guy with boomerangs is any sort of threat to a guy with super speed (look at how Quicksliver humiliated all those trained guards in Days of Future Past to see why).

Well that's the thing about the Rogues. Separately, they're not much of a threat against The Flash. When they're together, that's when they are formidable.

Yeah, but Captain Boomerang seems like the weak link of the Rogues, Weather Wizard can control the weather, Mirror Master is a minor reality warper and Captain Cold's cold fields can slow the Flash down. Captain Boomerang throws boomerangs at people doesn't seem like he is in the same league. He seems way better suited as an Arrow villain then a Flash one. If it doesn't seem like Captain Boomerang can pull his weight in such a group, what is the point of having him there?

Not to mention Flash's power set is so broken in the comics, that often villains have to rely on "plot induced stupidity" to be a threat. I think Flash's powers would have to toned down a bit, so villains besides Reverse Flash would be a believable threat and even toned down its hard to see how Captain Boomerang would ever tag Flash, without PIS.

That being said, I thought Boomerang as seen in Assault on Arkham was pretty cool.

Colin Salmon (Walter Steele) was Dr Moon in the Silence in the Library Doctor Who episode so guess he counts as a third who actor besides Barrowman and Alex Kingston.

Noel Clarke loves comics and would take a role in Arrow if asked but the Arrow writers probably hate mickey mickey like everyone else does :cwink:

You're right. Despite what "Teh Rouges!!!!" fans may tell you, he's never really worked as a Flash villain in the comics, and honestly only really been compelling in the Suicide Squad. Frankly, he should have been shifted to Green Arrow's Rouges Gallery a long time ago. He fits better there and GA could use more villains.

Now imagine a man fighting with boomerangs ninja style...
That would be SOOOOO awesome.

I always get him mixed up with the Boomerang guy from Marvel. What was his name?Which one was gay?
