Endgame Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers - Brie Larson

I've been rewatching alot of Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson and noticed Brie had been a guest a couple times and they were cute appearances.

I didn't know Brie looked so good with
short hair. Damn.

As for how the Russos handled her in Endgame,

they kind of didn't? She's barely in the movie. Her fight scene with Thanos was pretty sweet, but it wasn't enough.

And no interactions with Tony. We'll never get to see their friendship on the big screen... what a shame.

Carol felt so forced in Endgame.

The entire movie would have been straight up improved if she hadn't been there. Tony and Nebula would have to actually figure out a way home on their own instead of being saved by a plot device, and we wouldn't have had Carol's annoying "last time you didn't have me, but I had more important things to do" attitude when interacting with the others. Also, everyone who is expecting Thanos to wreck Carol and teach her some humility is just way off base. Same goes for everyone who is expecting her to have any kind of interaction with Thor beyond what we saw in the trailer.

Then she conveniently vanishes yet again for 90% of the movie (because again she has more important things to do, apparantly) only to return in the climax as a huge deus ex machina, exactly as many people predicted. The climax would have been so much better if the established characters had to find away to win without godmode Carol showing up out of nowhere to effortlessly take out Thanos's warship and most of his troops. And it's obvious that she would have effortlessly defeated Thanos as well if she'd shown up any sooner, since he is barely able to fend her off even with the completed gauntlet. (meanwhile Thor has apparently gotten so fat and weak that Thanos can beat him without any infinity stones at all). Actually, they could have won if Iron Man had just taken the gauntlet and ran away until Carol finished wiping everyone out. His sacrifice wasn't really even necessary.

They really should have waited until after Endgame to introduce her to the story, or at least they should have waited until then to make her so OP.

On the bright side, she does LOOK really good with her new hairdo.

Yeah with everything that I have heard about her role in the film, it just further alienated the character for me. I have no desire to invest in
a unbeatable plot device
.

Y'all need to stop projecting. She was not in this movie enough to ruin it, in fact I was annoyed she wasn't in this more.

I felt there were a few problems with EG, most of which were to do with the plot and not the characters

No one said she ruined the film. But surely you can see how it's poor writing to

introduce a brand new character who only shows up in two scenes where she conveniently and effortlessly saves the main characters from a seemingly hopeless situation.

In either instance it would have been much better writing, and much more satisfying, to have the characters come up with a way to overcome the obstacle on their own.

It's my understanding that they filmed some scenes multiple ways either maximizing or eliminating CM's involvement.

Imagine how tough it was to plan for her role when her solo film script wasn't even done yet.

Which is a pretty good reason not to give her a role at all. She didn't need to be forced into the conclusion of a ten year saga when she's going to take center stage of the next ten year saga.

Feige himself said that Captain Marvel will be a major player for phase 4 which I have no issue with, so it will be interesting to see what plans Feige has for her. I have a feeling that in the coming years she will be the new leader of The Avengers. I can't wait to see Endgame tomorrow and I hope that I will actually like the character. Brie Larson defintely has the look for the character.

At first wasn't really on board with her snotty attitude but i gotta say that she had some pretty impressive showings. Definitely a very big player and one of the pilars for the MCU future.

Except when your movie makes $1B, the general public is going to expect you to play a prominent role in the next chapter.

Yeah the short hair worked so well on her. Hope they keep that hair style. I didn't really have an issue with her role other than I completely forgot about her in the battle....hadn't a clue what this thing was coming out of the sky. Ha.

I think they're playing it smart with her. She's not a like for like replacement for Cap and Tony but she definitely has leadership vibes.

Since they're still at it with their Brie crap, I'm doing exactly what I said I was going to do, spoiling the movie at the comment sections of The Quartering, Geeks+Gamers and Odin's Movie Blog.

I loved Captain Marvel in Endgame...

she had one of the best visuals when she destroyed Thanos' ship, but I in no way thought she was there to "save the day". She fought Thanos less than Thor and Captain America and got face punched flat out when Thanos used the power stone. She also had help from all the ladies when facing down Thanos' army so she wasn't a one (wo)man army.

Also loved the short hair and new costume. There was also a little moment with her and Rhodey that I appreciated (although he's too old for her!)

The Russos had a much better handle in how to deal with Carol and not have her be the focus or be too OP in the movie imo. Much better than her own movie.
