I don't see how anyone can see "35-59" and think "Rick Jones."
Well, Mar-Vell will be played by an actor in his 40s, so the idea of a middle-aged Rick Jones doesn't seem that farfetched to me. Maybe they'll be introduced as an older duo of heroes who's already been around for decades.

With Disney's acquisition of Fox possibly imminent, do you think they'll have Rogue be the reason for Carol being gone since the 90s?

So, basically EW confirms that Skrulls will be in X-Men: Dark Phoenix with the movie being set in 1992. But why? :( Marvel is basically doing the same, because I think CM will be set in early 90s, too, shortly after Howard Stark's dead in 1991, with still no new director of Shield on board. Which means ~1992.
Imagine both movies set in 1992 with a Skrull invasion ... Uggh!

There are enough Skrulls for everybody. Genocide can be fun!

The movie starts shooting in a few weeks though, not sure it would be wise to drastically change the script this late in the game.

What they could do is scrap or alter whatever plans they currently have for the sequel and turn it into a partial Final Battle of Ms Marvel adaptation... except it wouldn't be Carol's final battle (duh), and the movie would end with her and Marie bonding over their love of bomber jackets and teaming up to defeat Mystique.

Where did EW confirm skrulls for Dark Phoenix?

They didn't. Jessica Chastain's character is described as an alien shapeshifter, no confirmation she's a Skrull though. But given Fox has the rights to use the Skrulls some people are suggesting that.

No, but mostly because Rogue is one of their most popular X-Men and they'll want her young and in her iconic state when they do an X-Men movie.

That would be insane and I definitely would want to see this

What's with the '90s that makes people think "skrull invasion"

how big of a role do you think Nick Fury might have in this?

should she have the binary powers right away? Just wondering. I wonder how that would be depicted onscreen. We'll see.

I suspect she'll have the energy absorption powers that lead to binary (Binary itself is situational). That being said, if they're getting the Brood back, I wouldn't mind them holding off.

Would watch. I would love seeing Rogue in a X-men movie post an appearance as a villain in a Cpt. Marvel movie. Would be nice having seen some of her back story having played out in a previous movie. Plus it would be a great opportunity to come back to that storyline post Dancers waking up and confronting Rogue now as a X-man. Great opportunity for a frenemy/rival dynamic IMO.

Captain Marvel movies can be really organically female centric now after Skrull stuff from Movie 1. Captain Marvel mixes very well with X-MEN and those female hero/villains can appear in that trilogy. Brotherhood or Shi'ar.

Rogue, Mystique, & Destiny I prefer in Captain Marvel franchise for now instead of X-MEN.

I really, really hope they don't do the "power and mind gets stolen" story, even after they get the X-Men back. Its not the worst story to ever happen to Carol, but its part of her old trend of "absolutely horrible things happen to her for no good reason".

it can be a challenge she goes through, maybe temp losing her powers, doesn't have to be a 1:1 from the comics.

either way we're eventually going to a beast, tanked-out rogue that x-fans have wanted for decades :woot:

i also do like mystique as a secondary villain down the road. def not primary, due to so much x-related films

That's a very nice piece of fan art.

Looks like the same artist as that Ready Player One poster.

Nah, I'm just kidding. This is good.

You know who I would love to see as an MCU mystique who will never happen?

Marcia cross. The best villains have a generational divide and she would be epic
