Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 7

My gripes are about the silly complaints. 'Oh, she can't act,' when it's proven she can, and I'm not talking about her being an Academy Award winner but just what I've seen in other movies. The girl can act. Or, 'she was so wooden,' when all we've seen so far is quick snippets from a trailer. Never mind what we didn't see but was aired at CCXP but sounds great from people who did see it. Or the real stupid one, 'why doesn't she smile more?' when facing world altering events and dangers. Or the great one griping about, 'how dare she say Capt Marvel could lift Mjolnir!" Heaven forbid she jokes around with someone about that, but let's just add it to the Gripe Pile anyway.

What this is all sounding like is Gal Gadot Mania Part 2, the Larson Edition.

And personally, Black Panther wasn't that great. For me, it's the first Thor movie level of good. So far the trailers for Capt Marvel have been better than BP. :halo:

I don't think many put Hemmsworth up there with the likes of Downey or Evans...I think you're overstating it; however, he was readily excepted, although a relatively new actor, at the time of casting. Neitherless, many out the gate, loved his casting as Thor & loved how he embodied the character, even after lukewarm reception of TDW yrs later. As the previous video states she is stolic(if that's a word), Chris has personality...and that goes a long ways, in garnering fan support of the character & film, for an actor/actress.

I can appreciate being tired of certain & obvious trolling for the sake of....although I didn't hate the number of people bashing the casting of Holland as Peter/Spidey, because of his ascent...feeling other fan favorite could better portray someone from Queens vs someone with an English ascent...so yeah I get it: don't confuse those with constructive criticism.

Oh I remember A LOT of hate for Hemsworth before the first Thor movie came out. People complaining he was too much of a pretty boy and a “terrible” actor based on his Aussie soap stuff. The popular speculation was that Hopkins and Portman would be the ones carrying the film.

Actually never said that. Just saying that, for me, Black Panther wasn't any greater or more exciting than the first Thor movie, even as I did enjoy both.

...and it's entirely within the realm of incredibly remote and infinitesimal possibility that Capt Marvel could end up in the third tier of Marvel movies. Please, Dear God No! It's possible, even as I don't think it will be so. I have too much faith in the show makers and their long track record to let some flat spots in a trailer knock me off the hype train!:D

Jude Law makes everything he's in better. He carried/saved the first Holmes movie and nearly saved the 2nd one. Dude is one of the best in the biz. Hope he has adequate screen time in this.

I watched "It's Kind of a Funny Story" tonight from the husband/wife directing duo. It's a good movie. Also saw Mississippi Grind a while ago, from the same people. Also, a good movie.

Captain Marvel is in good hands, and with Kevin Feige behind the scenes, should be a success.

Thome, I certainly don't have a probkem with yours or anyone else assessment...we all have things that we individually favor more than others.

My point is lingers outside of the scope of whether one like her casting or not...I'm on record for a while now, I don't; but, that was not the point I submit the video. It's the common theme on many forums that if one disagree with a particular consensus on a topic, some opinions are construed to be pure hate or troll, when those particular posters have real, true, & valid concern, that formulate the thesis of their opinion.

You may have valid reasons but the problem here is you are posting a video from a guy who has a personal agenda against Brie Larson. He doesn't like Brie Larson because of her recent political statements, so therefore everything he posts has a negative bias attached to it. Just search how many times he talks about Captain Marvel and SJW's. Much like Damkac's post above, he misunderstands and misquotes what Brie Larson actually said. Because of this it's difficult to assess whether or not your criticisms are based on actual valid criticisms or you yourself also have that same bias. Posting a video from an outrage merchant like Jeremy who suffers from white fragility doesn't help your cause if it's the former.

Some of us just want to enjoy the movie, without having to constantly defend it from the "Anti-SJW" crowd.

On the bright side, imagine how fun it is going to be to make fun of those morons if/when Captain Marvel is a success.

You don't know if that guy has an agenda....that seem like a blanket statement, to discredit this guy dislike of her being cast in this role.

Saw a trailer for this on the big screen when I saw Aquaman.

For some reason, it was the first trailer and not the most recent one. Not that I have a problem with that. I'm just curious why the trailer shown in the theaters, at least for me, wasn't the most recent one.

When's the next trailer do out? And will it have the scenes from CCXP in it?

Some theaters are just lazy about that. They get lists of trailers that are supposed to be attached to each movie, and it’s always the most recent trailers for each film, but when a trailer is listed for a film they have a previous trailer for, sometimes they’ll just put that old trailer on rather than upload a new one to the server. They aren’t supposed to, and they could get in trouble for it with their bosses, but it’s unlikely they’ll ever notice. [/former projectionist]

Oh yes. It'll be quiet satisfying knowing all their criticisms were all wrong.

I actually do know that. I've watched quite a few of his videos and they are all centered around catering to the Anti-SJW crowd. He's a Trump supporter that finds statements from an actress more offensive than children being locked up in cages. Jeremy previously had no opinion on Brie Larson's casting. His dislike has nothing to do with her being cast, but as a reaction to her comments on calling for more POC involved in reviewing movies that have POC in them, and then made a video titled "Marvel turns SJW" in response. So his videos and opinions slant towards a narrative that fit his agenda. Or do you actually think he's always been a Captain Marvel fan that cares about whether this movie is good or not?

I really do hope the next trailer is alot better and manages to win over some people. They really do need to knock it out of the park and get people like you excited.

Late January is my guess.

I wonder how he feels about Chris Evans routinely dragging Trump on Twitter? Or is he focusing on Larson because of one very specific reason... we all know which one.

Late Jan, nice. Not too far away.

I doubt we’ll see a trailer next month. We just got one. Might not see anything else ‘til the Super Bowl, first week in Feb.

Just saw the trailer for Jordan Peele's "Us" and it looks good. Its coming out a week after Captain marvel. I hope both do great at the box office.
