Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 8

Loving that Bening clip, she sounds just right. Familiar and mentor-ish/maternal to a human like Carol's perspective, but suitably creepy & unsettling/alien too. Very cool, if it works that well throughout I just might be cool with no "disembodied head in a tank" true-form reveal.

Not hugely digging the score in that livestream much, personally. :( Sounds very "Jackman", orchestration's pretty thin sounding and the melody's nothing we haven't heard a million times before. Guess that's not limited to this though, most modern scores have that problem. The vocal element is cool though, hope there's lots of that throughout, something new. Not gonna dismiss it until hearing it context - Tyler's a little blahhh half the time too, but Iron Man 3's score is awesome, this school of composing does work some of the time.

Featurette there's nice. Some cool new footage, between that and the Bening clip that's going a way to quell my concern over the Skrulls not coming off as this genuinely-malicious threat. Still hoping they're not being manipulated/played by the Kree, but it does honestly seem like they've taken a bunch of worlds from the Kree before and are a sort of equal military presence rather than pawns made into a boogieman.

Pretty funny getting that goofy song from Vegas Vacation and pretty much every car commercial ever. Actually hope that's in the film itself, for ****s & giggles.

Boden & Fleck both come off really well in interviews too, they seem like cool people and the type that are grateful to be a part of all this.

The Fury/Carol clip, holy crap, so fun. :applaud "Mr Snoofers", Nick, really? Somehow being born/raised in Alabama fits really well too. Sam's from Tennessee, no? Vietnam service reference in there, nice. Does anyone remember what rank he was in that uniformed picture from '92 in TWS? Hope that matches up, been a year or so since watching it.

"Riding a desk for 6 years" seems weird if this is indeed '95, though. When was that military raid he led to save the hostages referenced in TWS? Prior to '92 from memory, but you'd figure pretty soon before that if that's when Pierce brought him over to S.H.I.E.L.D. And Fury going from colonel in the military to doing field detective/gumshoe work at S.H.I.E.L.D. feels weird, like he'd be above that from the get-go once joining, seniority-wise.

That entire scene just feels very "Iron Man 1 & 2" though, loving the tone.

Hype thrusters full power, etc.

Captain Marvel full movie leaked:

Best movie of all time.

So Captain Marvel's theme isn't there right?

RT has been removing some comments. But they won't touch the score.

They really ought to do more. Rotten Tomatoes for years has put up with trolls and they should do something to fix their system to prevent review bombing.

They may not admit it, but it will gnaw at their soul and .....that pleases me. I'll make sure to remind them when I troll them too trolololol
I'm telling you, those people don't care about facts. Their new narrative is that Captain Marvel would've made a billion (which is funny considering that they spent the past year arguing that no one wanted a Captain Marvel movie) if not for Brie Larson's comments.

They keep moving the goalposts, that's why there's no winning with them. They're so stupid, they're literally unmockable.

‘Captain Marvel’ Cast On The Film's Impact

Brie Larson opens up about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Captain Marvel”, alongside co-stars Jude Law and Gemma Chan. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson says he spent the film rooting for Carol Danvers to succeed, betting that there’s going to be a lot of little girls with Captain Marvel posters on their walls now.

Let's not forget, the review embargo lifts on March 5th.
So, there is much more to come on the reaction front.

That "impact" video with the interviews is pretty nice.

Something about shooting it in a hangar is awesome, more Favreau-Iron-Man-days vibes. Cool 15 behind Brie, the 16 behind Sam. Damn I'm itching to hear anything about the flight sequences, gonna be such a waste if we don't get one substantial scene of Carol & Friends doin' their thing in their jets.

Something to look at in this scene:

Her neck when her powers flare up. :mag

While I didn’t have problems with either trailers, I might say the TV Spots have been great. That’s what a good amount of the general audience end up seeing first. So we might look back and consider it if it opens up to $150 mil OW, that is what worked.
