I'm saying you're gay, just in case you didnt get that :o

Well folks, sorry about the lack of posts. PSP broke. :csad:

I leave for basic tomorrow. Wish me luck. See you all in 6 1/2 weeks!

Good-bye... for now...

Good luck, man! Watch out for tear gas, blanket parties and bunkmates that are really touchy-feely.

'Sup ya'll!

4 weeks in and it's THANKSGIVING! Thanks to Operation Homecooking, me and a wingman get to spend the day at a volunteer's house!

Let me just say that Basic sucks. A lot. But, I know it's worth it.

We just got back from field training, and I know that the next week (week 5) will be the hardest. But I will do my best and be graduating on time. Talk to you all next time I get a chance!

Hang in there, man! It'll be over before you know it.

Awesome, enjoy Turkey Day and keep at it.

Congradulations. I would have gone Into the Marine, but I've been there, done that. Aim High Airman but don't miss :woot:

good luck and try to make it to be a pilot like in that movie Top Gun:o

Wow, this thread still exists. I'm impressed.

What's up, my brothers and sisters? C14 is back and better than ever and...

...hold the phone. Everytime I make a comeback, I face a lot of 'who the hell are you?' comments, so scratch that. I'll continue as though I never left.

Well, Weather did not go so well for me. I was washed back three times for test failures, then cut from the course upon my fourth test failure... on the final test.

:csad:

9 months, wasted.

I was reclassed to Security Forces (or Military Police for you civilians) which I did graduate and am proud to be a part of. I'm stationed in South Dakota now, and DAMN is it cold up here. I miss Florida. Hell, at this point, I miss Texas.

The biggest change is being an authority figure now. People treat you a lot differently when you're wearing the uniform, and when that uniform has a badge on it.

What rank are you now? You should be pretty close to SrA. Too bad you washed out of weather. Being SF... be prepared to deploy... a lot. But it will be fun.

Are you single? If so... then that's great. Stay single for as long as you can because you'll be able to go anywhere you want anytime you want. It will greatly benefit you.

Try to get overseas as soon as and as much as you can. Later on in your career you can even crosstrain into a shredout like dog handler or maybe even OSI... look into that.

Good luck in your career.

It's true. I head up to Montgomery tomorrow to take my ASVAB. Then I get my physical on Friday.

If everything checks out, I'll be sworn in Friday afternoon. I'll probably be sent to Basic around November.

I'm pretty excited.

I have the utmost respect for those who volunteer for their nation's service, whether that be the military, or other forms of volunteering.

Good for you, my man.

I really need to get on here more, but I keep gettin' distracted...

Well, I'm officially working now, guarding the flightlines and what-not. My first day on flight, I was just :wow:, shaking like a leaf. Work's actually pretty laid back up here. High deployment rate, though.

Yeah... deployment... really nervous on that subject. Like, having nightmares nervous.

(If anybody here has some helpful advice on surviving Afghanistan, I'd love it.)

Other than that, nothin' much happening. Still single ( :csad: ) and it kinda sucks when all your friends go out drinking every night, leaving you to do nothing. It's all good though. As a 19 year old A1C, I really have to stay on the straight and narrow.

I want to thank everyone who's posted in this thread for almost two years now with their unwavering support, and I will do my best to make you all proud.

I intend to keep this thread alive as long as possible with little tid-bits of my career as it goes (especially when I deploy) .

And I was wondering...

Any other Security Forces here? If so, can I get a "HUA!" ?

Congrats for 2 years!

I was in the Marine Corps for not very long (Broken Hips can do that), my brother has been in the AF for 8 years now, and loves it. Keep it up, and be good.

Well, I won't give you a "hua" (hate that word), but I can let you in on Afghanistan as that's where I currently have been for the last year. Let me know where you're going in Afghanistan, and honestly, if your SecFOR, there's a good chance you'll be coming to where I am.

I'm Army not Air Force, but I work with SecFor a lot on base defense ops. In fact, all our ECPs were just handed over from my company to the Air Force SecFor, so there are a lot more of you guys coming over.

If you want, write or PM me with some more details and I'll give you any advice I got.

Going to Afghanistan as AF SF is going to be a lot easier than you think... depending on what base you're going to. The level of pre-stress you're feeling is not necessary though... i've been to Afghanistan twice, working on the flightline though.
