The Last Jedi Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa (VIII)

Well I for one still love Carrie....she was a great human being who had a lot of battles in her life. I do not condone drug use but I can see and understand why she did what she did. My heart goes out to all the people who struggle with these kinds of battles.

Carrie I loved what you did in life and love the person you are. You really were an inspiration for a whole lot of people and this does not change a thing for me. Billie would be proud of her Momby.

Addiction is hard and I don't think any less of her. Still a tragic loss.

I do hate, however the people on twitter ragging on her because of this with their #MAGA hashtags (for some reason) They can F off.

Unfortunately for people with bi-polar disorder, where it's just a huge binge fest. They can often go through long periods of sobriety, and then just go into a huge binge fest. This is just so sad, but not uncommon.

Polysubstance abuse goes hand-in-hand with mental illness in many cases. When symptoms reemerge after a dormant period, or when they are particularly difficult to control, this increases the person's proclivity to abuse substances. This isn't a free pass to excuse one's behavior. In fact, in means that the person might need to be even more accountable to others and choose more restrictive habits since he or she will inevitably experience periods of lowered impulse control. Too often, we see Hollywood and the demands of being a celebrity work against psychological stability. It's an unfortunate, and sometimes tragic, mix of biological and cultural influences.

Just wait until it comes out that Trump does coke. Suddenly drug abuse will be cool with them, but only if the drug abusers are conservative.

Bob Iger: "She certainly left her mark on the world and on our company. This December we will release her final film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and as always, she brought her trademark strength, her heart, and her humor to the role. It is a truly, truly legendary performance." (D23 2017)

Very sad. I hope TLJ can be a good tribute to her.

Im shocked she
wasnt killed off especially since there were so many oppurtunities to do so and they did kill Luke.
I wonder how she will be handled in the next film

Well, turns out Carrie did her script doctoring thing on the [blackout]Luke and Leia reunion. So, that is her dialogue[/blackout]

And I am crying again.

I LOVED how they played the Leia theme when her dedication came up it was very touching and well done, by the great John Williams (claps).

A really good contribution to this movie.

Carrie Fisher's interview during the production:

She was really good in this movie. Much better than in TFA.

And the Luke and Leia theme during their last scene. It was really beautiful.

Wonder what they will do with Leia in Episode IX now.

The simplest solution would be to just pull a Dark Knight Rises and just set it almost a decade in the future. Leia died an old woman, content in her sleep.

That could work. Although I doubt she would be content unless the situation with her son was resolved. :csad:

Kylo Ren has no idea that Leia is actually alive if you think about it. He could think she's dead for all intents and purposes since he felt her presence, hesitated and then saw the support fighters blow up the flagship's bridge.

It'd be a pretty powerful scene in IX if Kylo had thrown away the last attachment to the light in that moment, then years later finds out that his mother lived to die of natural causes and even took Rey as a surrogate daughter.

I see them starting the movie with a big funeral pyre and Rey, Poe and Finn in attendance. It actually serves the story quite well because it means the Resistance is in even greater jeopardy.

Did you like CG Leia and CG Tarkin in Rogue One?

Tarkin was fine in some shots, where it wasn't a closeup or the lighting was dark.

Leia was okay because it was a very quick scene.

But I think the technology to make a 100% believable recreation of a human being, someone that your brain recognises, but is no longer living is still about 10-20 years away.

We can currently do a job that's about 99% accurate and believable. But that 1% is the uncanny valley.
