Cast the Marvel Universe - Part 1

Now that I think about it, yeah, Noomi Rapace can be a pretty cool Scarlet Witch. She's a great actress (finally seen her in Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and boy did she live up to the hype), can play tormented, beautiful and determined, and she has the sort of darker European look that Wanda's actress needs.

246.jpg

(Just visualize that as House of M Wanda and one of the children she didn't really have. :oldrazz:)

noomi_rapace_01.jpg

And not to rain on MarvelComix's parade, but thinking about it more, I think I've finally pinpointed my personal problem with Rosie Huntington-Whitely. She just seems too... sunny for the part. That, and I really don't think one "surprisingly decent" performance in Transformers 3 should be an automatic qualification for a role with as complicated a psyche as Scarlet Witch's.

Though Rosie could make a decent Polaris.

Just in case you didn't know, this is RoadDogXXIV from CBM.com.

Wow great idea of Noomi Rapace. And I can see what you mean using the shot above of her holding a baby look like a live-action scene from a House of M adaptation. Solid. And I think her accent would benefit the character's gypsy heritage as well.

As for raining on my parade, don't even fret. It was when I started that raffle of actors/actresses early this year where I threw in Rosie Huntington Whitely's name, and axelbratoski cast her as Scarlet Witch. And I found myself fascinated by the idea. Because I've thought of Scarlet Witch being a LITTLE naive, especially after watching Wolverine and the X-Men. Rosie played that to an extent in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and her confrontations with Patrick Dempsey's character were similar to the ones that Scarlet Witch had with Magneto in that recent animated show I mentioned.

Also, DDD over at CBM.com cast Rosie two times: one for Marlene Alrune in a Moon Knight fancast, and Psylocke (Betsy Braddock form) in his X-Men II: Darkness Descends cast. Just thought I bring that up.

As for Polaris, I'm a fan of Nicky Whelan for the role. I have her for this big X-Men fancast I'm doing over at CBM.

4zjn0qsgz6pajz0p.jpg

Like Rosie Huntington Whitely, as you mentioned, Nicky has a very sunny personality, but with the eyes, she can definitely bring some intensity and drama.

Thanks for the input, MK. It's always welcome. And get that Justice League cast fired up for CBM.com, because it's a wasteland there. Crap fancast after crap fancast. I even left you a comment on your X-Men fancast, which I recommend you update again (Bonnie Wright for Wolfsbane and Noomi Rapace for Scarlet Witch would be much appreciated over there) and throw in some more characters (Bishop, more Hellfire Club members, New Mutants, etc.). But focus on main priorities first.

Also, I've got a Sailor Moon fancast is in the works.

Gotta go, bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know a lot of people are going to give me crap for this but I was watching Predators the other night and I thought "Man Adrien Brody IS Cable is this movie". Like I said I'm sure I'll be murdered for saying that but after seeing that movie I thought he'd make a prefect Cable. Just wondering what others thought about that if you disagree, who would you cast?

I think Noomi Rapace would also make a great Queen Karnilla in Thor.

X-MEN

Ralph Fiennes as Professor X
ralph_fiennes_3100946.jpg

As I said before, I took a page from Mistress Kizuna and cast someone who plays villains to play for the opposite side. Well, not 100%, but being known mostly for playing Lord Voldermort from the Harry Potter movies, I see him somehow doing a bang-up job as Professor Xavier. He even looks like him a bit!

Tahmoh Penikett as Cyclops
Dollhouse08.jpg

These next two choices were inspired by Donnie Darko's amazing X-Men cast, and I couldn't disagree with him. Tahmoh Penikett is known for playing leaders with crises in conscience, much like Cyclops.

Milla Jovovich as Jean Grey
milla_jovovich_hot_wallpaper_01.jpg

Another intriguing idea from DD. Milla Jovovich radiates intensity, but I've seen her work elsewhere where she can be a sweetheart. And seeing as she fought her inner demons in Resident Evil, that's how I envision her handling those characteristics as Jean Grey when she's posessed by the Phoenix Force.

Kiefer Sutherland as Beast
kiefer_sutherland_2244312.jpg

I'm sticking with this one for now. The shot above almost looks like early Henry McCoy before he transforms into Beast. Kiefer's just good playing characters fighting with their demons (24), can be an effective straight man in comedies (Flashback, The Cowboy Way, The Wild), and sounds exactly how Beast should sound (just adopt a faster speech pattern and scientific speak). My second choice is Peter Segal, because Segal would fit quite many characteristics of Beast (voice pattern and overall personality).

Trevor Donovan as Angel
3820656439_1cab7e2623_z.jpg

While maybe not the visual representation of insanely handsome Warren Worthington III (Abercrombie & Fitch modeling notwithstanding), Trevor somehow reminds me of Angel in his performance as Teddy in 90210. He'd be perfect for Worthington in his adult years.

Shia LaBeouf as Iceman
600full-shia-labeouf.jpg

This seemed to be the easiest character to cast. I know people hate the guy, but if you take his cocky attitude from Transformers: Dark of the Moon, his prankster ways from Even Stevens, and put them in a blender, you'll pretty much have the perfect Iceman. Now if he can shave his beard and chase movie opportunities instead of getting in barfights.

Aisha Tyler as Storm
aisha-tyler-1a.jpg

QWoods seems to favor this choice quite a bit. Somehow, I couldn't disagree. While Aisha is known for comedies, she's been testing her hand at serious acting nabbing roles in Death Sentence, Ghost Whisperer, Never Die Alone, and the recent TV adaptation of the video game/novel XIII. What's more? She's of African decent and stands at an incredibly tall 6'. And judging by that shot from Balls of Fury, she'd looks like African royalty.

Stephen Dorff as Wolverine
wtcpre.jpg

Christian Kane may be the fan favorite, but I'm surprised Stephen Dorff hasn't been suggested. While he's not for CBM's at the moment, with his diminuitive stature (5'7"), scary voice, gritty looks, and experience in fighting since Blade, he'd make an interesting choice for Wolvie.

Milo Ventimiglia as Nightcrawler
milo_ventimiglia_-11137.jpg

I think I see why Milo may be considered a good choice for Nightcrawler. All he need to nail it is to get covered in blue prostheses and learn German.

Armie Hammer as Colossus
armie+hammer.jpg

It's between him and Liam Hemsworth at this point. Both are relatively young (Hammer is 25, Hemsworth is 21), but are brick ****-houses and close to the height of Colossus. But Armie Hammer has a slightly bigger fanbase and is being fancast quite a bit on CBM.com in the role (actually, ShadesatKnight came up with the choice in his Astonishing X-Men fan trailer). If he can work out like mad and learn Russian dialect, then he'll make the perfect Russian powerhouse.

X-MEN (PART 2)

Ashley Rickards as Shadowcat
kinopoisk.ru-Ashley-Rickards-844854.jpg

This is one I'm sticking with the most. While some shots of Shadowcat look like Lyndsy Fonseca was the basis of inspiration, I'm looking for a relatively younger actress. After seeing Awkward, I'm convinced 100% that Ashley Rickards (a former alum of One Tree Hill) would be perfect in nailing the comedic and dramatic personae of Kitty Pryde. She's 19, too, so she'd be legal to play the love interest of one of my choices for Colossus.

Tabrett Bethell as Emma Frost
Cara-b.jpg

Cara in Legend of the Seeker is a heroine with intelligence, but is somewhat detached from human emotions and has a somewhat snooty, WASPy personality. Reminds you of a certain X-Men, anyone?

Amber Heard as Rogue
amber-heard-brunette.jpg

Two words: Drive Angry 3D. She practically played Rogue in that film. I think she's bisexual, because she played Johnny Depp's love interest in her recent film The Rum Diary.

Justin Hartley as Gambit
tumblr_l3brm9HyXo1qc668mo1_400.jpg

Even though people are clamoring for him (plus Alex Pettyfer and Teddy Sears) to be a new Angel, there's no role fit for him than Gambit. Because let's face it, he played the same kind of role in Smallville: the rogue, witty, and ass-kicking charmer. Plus, he's pretty much the right height and image.

Sean Patrick Flanery as Banshee
sean-patrick-flannery2.jpg

Banshee is Irish. And so is ol' Connor MacManus here. People seem to want Sean Bean or Damien Lewis. But I've found this pick on CBM.com, and it's an original choice per se. Fret not, friends, he's a good actor.

Michaela Conlin as Psylocke
bones_09-michaela-rust-wall_0616_djrv1_fini2.jpg

I wanna hear what everyone says about this, because I may change it. All I know is Conlin stands at a tall 5'8" and is of Chinese and Scottish decent (integral since Psylocke is from Britain). But for those who think she's a one-trick pony in terms of comedy, she has done serious work like this year's The Lincoln Lawyer. I think all that's needed for her is to learn martial arts, and we may have a winnah!

Michael Rosenbaum as Deadpool
michael-rosenbaum.jpg

This guy was actually my choice for Bullseye for a new Daredevil movie universe. But after seeing his comedic performances in Sorority Boys and Justice League: The Animated Series, he'd make an excellent replacement Deadpool in case Ryan Reynolds has no plans to come back. Not to mention Mike looks like Deadpool, you just gotta add scars.

Kristin Stewart as X-23
kristen-stewart-twilight.jpg

I think this one goes without saying. Nevertheless, K-Stew always leans toward dark, tortured characters. I don't think X-23 needs to be ridiculously sexy, and if Stewart can learn martial arts and gain some muscle (from what I heard about Snow White and the Huntsman, she's supposedly doing action), I believe she could bring out a strong, overall faithful representation. Oh, and did I mention she looks like Stephen Dorff? Perfect, since Wolvie and X-23 have the same genes.

Scott Porter as Havok
Scott_Porter_20940_4.jpg

I actually thought of using Paul Wesley as Havok, seeing as he and Tahmoh Penikett look like they could pass as brothers. Then again, after seeing Mistress Kizuna's inspired casting of him as Quicksilver, I looked around and found that someone cast Friday Night Lights actor Scott Porter, because he looks like Penikett just as much as Wesley. And to whom it may concern, he's already playing Cyclops in the X-Men anime on G4, so he's more than likely eligible to play Alex Summers. Besides, fan favorite Garrett Hedlund is my pick for Nova (Richard Rider).

Nicky Whelan as Polaris
110228.13.jpg

Australian. Beautiful voice. Down-to-earth personality. Gorgeous as all hell. 5'6" (probably like the character). And talented to boot. She'd make a great Polaris, as well as love interest to Scott Porter. She also sounds like the Wolverine and the X-Men version of Polaris that Liza Del Mundo played.

Emma Watson as Pixie
220px-EmmaWatsonNov2010.jpg

Well, a Welch actress is hard to find, so maybe a British actress would be close enough. And isn't she the fan favorite around here?

Brenda Song as Jubilee
brenda-song-profile.jpg

She seems to be the consummate fan favorite around these parts. Brenda might be known for her screeching, aggravating character on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, but she's graduated to more mainstream fare like David Fincher's The Social Network. With youthful exuberance, comic timing, a voice similar to Alyson Court (original voice of Jubilee in the 1992 X-Men cartoon), and even some brief action experience in the 2006 DCOM Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, she'd make a strong choice for Jubilee.

Brian Tee as Sunfire
tee_brian.jpg

Sunfire, I'm told, is supposed to be this arrogant and condescending mutant. Now if I know an actor who's the right persona and heritage, it has to be Brian Tee aka DK from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Michael Spears and Thunderbird
ms.jpg

I'm planning on using the Spears twins for the Proudstar brothers. The oldest one, Michael, will play James Proudstar.

Aly Michalka as Dazzler
aly-michalkajpg-c88923e9ea013ded_large.jpg

Originally I wanted Pixie Lott, because after hearing some of her songs, she blew me right away with the whole package. However, without knowledge of Pixie's body, Dazzler's supposed to be this toned, tight beauty with abs of steel. Well, looking at this picture of singer-turned-actress Aly Michalka, who else would've fit the bill? Plus, she's just as good an actress, and would excel in a spin-off/solo film.

Nikki SooHoo as Armor
268615-10_large.jpg

Cute Asian actress from Stick It who's quite a fan favorite for the role.

Jesse Plemmons as Cannonball
jessePlemons.jpg

He may not be from the same state as the comic book character, but Jesse Plemmons is a southern boy through and through. He has the cocky swagger, the looks (Cannonball doesn't need to be handsome per se), and is only two inches below the actual height of Sammy.

Q'orianka Kilcher as Moonstar
q-orianka-kilcher-20070311-224359.jpg

She's a young enough Indian actress (though born in the UK) and would make sweet music with Jesse Plemmons.

Chi Lan Lee as Karma
393cd562d7.jpg

I had to find an unknown, Viatnamese actress. Look who popped up? Thanks to ThalesNJ over at CBM.com for the inspiration!

Alfred Enoch as Sunspot
alfie-enoch-mobile-wallpaper.jpg

Another choice inspired by ThalesNJ. He's black, young and has dual-citizenship between the UK and Brazil. How could you disagree with that?

Some good choices and some so so but Michaela Conlin as Psylocke????

Really?

Rachel Hurd-Wood as Wolfsbane
600full-rachel-hurd--wood.jpg

Thought about using Evanna Lynch, because of her Irish heritage (I don't think Scottish and Irish people are any different), but I've wound up being swated towards the Rachel Hurd-Wood, a red-headed, busty beauty who almost bears a likeness to Rahne Sinclair. And if she can learn to talk in Scottish dialect, here here. My third choice would've been Bonnie Wright after being tickled by - yet again - Mistress Kizuna's casting of her a while back.

Alyson Stoner as Magik
alyson-stoner-1.jpg

Credit goes to axelbratoski after he took the call and took her from my raffle of actors/actresses needed casting. The Camp Rock series seems to be over and done (unless Demi Lovato has other plans!). So with her lovable charm and looking like she could pass for Armie Hammer's sister, and maybe some classes in Russian language, hats off to you, Ax!

Imogen Poots as Magma
13605779_gal.jpg

I once thought about using Skyler Samuels for the role after seeing another fancast. But, yet again, I'm told by a CBM.com user that Magma is the same age as Moonstar and Sunspot. The closet actress who could nail that aspect, but be a good enough actress with the right persona, is Fright Night's Imogen Poots. This is based on the X-Men Legends version of Magma, Allison Crestmere. Because Julie Gonzalo is now 30, and no longer eligible to play Amara Aquilla, which would be the perfect role.

David Gallagher as Cypher
5eab08e5.jpg

Picked it off of THEHAWK's fancast at CBM.com. He's a reasonably good enough actor, most known for appearing in the video game Kingdom Hearts as Riku. Based on his performance, he'd make for a solid Cypher. Any takers?

Billy West as Warlock
billywest.jpg

One of the greatest voice actors ever, with Tom Kenny coming in second. It's mostly because I'm a Howard Stern fan, but Billy is who I imagine lending his voice to the cybernetic alien of the Technarchy.

Kaley Cuoco as Boom-Boom
Alzheimer+Association+17th+Annual+Night+Sardi+47aupRPQfdil.jpg

Even though Tabitha is probably supposed to be younger than Kaley Cuoco, she's a great actress with solid comic timing, as if The Big Bang Theory or 8 Simple Rules (RIP John Ritter) didn't teach us anything. When she becomes part of Nextwave, Tabitha becomes a bobble-headed blonde with an insatiable appetite for celebrity gossip. Kaley would be just perfect for that character.

Eddie Spears as Warpath
eddie-spears-344678.jpg

The youngest Spears brother as the youngest Proudstar brother. 'Nuff said. I know he isn't at 7', but hey, nothing a few lifts could fix!

Adam Baldwin as Cable
adam%20baldwin%20full%20metal%20jacket.jpg

This is an easy one, because Cable and Deadpool are like the Chuck and Casey of the Marvel Universe. Therefore, Adam Baldwin, with his 6'4" stature and ability to play gun-toting heroes, here's your choice Cable!

Denzel Washington as Bishop
Denzel%2BWashington%2BVisits%2BBET%2B106%2BPark%2BuZL_AN3AsAHl.jpg

With the trend of major A-list actors taking the plunge in comic book movies, it's time to see which role would be perfect for the best African-American actor living. Funny, because Denzel is adamant in appearing in a comic book role. Bishop would be perfect, because he played a futuristic savior in Book of Eli. And post-Unstoppable, he can still do action like nobody's business, even at the age of 57. He'll just need lifts so he can stand tall next to Adam Baldwin.

Pierce Brosnan as Magneto
pierce-brosnan.jpg

Yes, another actor known for playing heroes. But Pierce has sharp-as-a-knife charisma (as if we didn't know this after his stint as James Bond!), can go big when need be, and... well, what more proof do you need? People want Jeremy Irons, but I have a better idea on who to cast him as.

I did my casting a few pages back. Psylocke is Asian not Eurasian and that girl really doesn't look asian at all.

I did my casting a few pages back. Psylocke is Asian not Eurasian and that girl really doesn't look asian at all.

Well, thank you for clearing that up. I'll look for a better choice in the near future. Moving on with more choices.

Paul Wesley as Quicksilver
picture-of-paul-wesley.jpg

To reiterate, much thanks has to be owed to Mistress Kizuna for this underrated, inspired choice. Early on, I wasn't convinced that he could nail it, but after seeing a performance of him in The O.C., where he played a viscious Crab Shack waiter who nearly got Ryan in trouble, BAM!, that's Quicksilver's arrogant personality. Now, as far as his performance in The Vampire Diaries goes, that's when Quicksilver eventually reverts to the side of good and joins the Avengers.

Emily Blunt as Scarlet Witch
Emily-blunt-press-meet-photos.jpg

I think I've been chewed up enough over using Rosie Huntington-Whitely as Scarlet Witch. See what happened, axelbratoski? So to make up for that, I've chosen a stronger actress. Now, looking at Mistress Kizuna's editorial of Scarlet Witch on CBM.com, the character was raised in Romania and learned to be a gypsy. And while she's got a naive personality (at least after I saw how she was written in Wolverine and the X-Men), she eventually gets to a point where she has a nervous breakdown, which leads to the House of M plots. Long story short, I went with Emily Blunt, because 1). Scarlet Witch is familiar to Jean Grey, a role fans want her to play, 2.) She has an exotic look to her, 3.)Since she was considered to the role of Black Widow, methinks she'd have no problem with the Romanian accent, 4.) Some moments of The Adjustment Bureau, moreso near the end, reminded me of Scarlet Witch having her breakdown, and 5.) She looks like she could pass for the twin sister of Paul Wesley.

Okay, it's not Eva Green, who I also approve of playing Scarlet Witch if the time comes. But 1.) I've cast her as Lilith Dracul in my Blade fancast on CBM.com 2.) I preferred my choice for Scarlet Witch to be the same age - or younger - as my Quicksilver choice, and 3.) At least I didn't go with Rosie Huntington-Whitely for the hundredth time. At least I deserve a cookie.

Seann William Scott as Toad
seann-william-scott-1-240.jpg

When I see Toad adapted to the big screen, I see someone who can not only be funny in the role, but has to be very acrobatic, because the character jumps around and busts some crazy martial arts/parkour. Henceforth, Seann William Scott came to mind. This guy is also good at playing backstabbing *****ebags (Stifler in American Pie and Dave in Cop Out) or pathetic suck-ups (Brent in Jay and Silent Strike Back), important characteristics in Toad.

Abraham Benrubi as Blob
arbraham_benrubi02.jpg

An expert in both comedy and drama, the biggest payoff is that Abraham Benrubi stands at 6'7". So there's your giant Blob for ya!

Tricia Helfer as Mystique
tricia_helfer_db6bc.jpeg

Once upon a time, I considered her heavily for Emma Frost. Then, I saw her in the music video/grindhouse trailer for "Howlin' for You" by The Black Keys, and she was simmering in that role. It just reminded me then and there of Mystique.

Desmond Askew as Pyro
147119.1.jpg

I saw this interesting choice on CBM. I can agree, Desmond Askew's character in Go was a hotheaded semi-psycho, and I see Pyro emulate that. As per age, Optimus Prime said it himself when he cast Jude Law: Pyro didn't start off young in his first appearance.

Dolph Lundgren as Sabretooth
interview-dolph-lundgren_c.jpg

Okay, even though Dolph is 54 years old, believe it or not, the guy actually looks good for that age! And he still does action, or he wouldn't have been in the recent installment of Universal Soldier a while back, or even the 2010 hit The Expendables. Standing at a massive 6'5", and based on his performance in the former movie I mentioned where he played a blood-thirsty psycho, tell me he wouldn't make a great Sabretooth? He'd nearly tower a foot over Stephen Dorff.

Nathan Jones as Juggernaut (John DiMaggio as the voice)
Nathan_Jones-1.jpg
john-dimaggio-voice-of-bender.jpg

Nathan Jones is a giant at 6'10". Meanwhile, John DiMaggio voiced Juggernaut in the last two X-Men Legends games.

James Callis as Mastermind
james_callis_821545.jpg

Gaius Baltar was good at fooling the ship members of the Battlestar Galactica that he was doing the right thing. Mastermind is just like that. Put two and two together.

Jeremy Irons as Mister Sinister
JeremyIrons.jpg

Well, this is pretty self-explanatory. Nevertheless, Jeremy Irons made a living out of playing villains on-screen, and hasn't failed yet. Personally, I think his voice is perfect for the villainous Nathaniel Essex.

Dennis Haysbert as Apocalypse
dennishaysbert.jpg

Dennis Haysbert isn't too unfamiliar with the comic book world; he's played Killowog in an episode of Justice League in the past decade. To me, he'd bring out a level of fear and uncertainty from Apocalypse more than Michael Clarke Duncan would.

Frances McDormand as Moira MacTaggert
Frances%2BMcDormand.jpg

Chances are I'll get hammered to death for this choice. However, I feel confident with it. I though Frances McDormand's performance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon was, so to speak, interesting. Of course, I remember she played a loving mother figure in Almost Famous, which she got nominated for a Best Actress in a Supporting Role. In Fargo, she managed to put on a convincing Minnesota accent in Fargo. With all those credentials, HOLY *****, would she make a fantastic Moira MacTaggert or what? Just give her the Scottish accent and we're solid.

John Benjamin Hickey as Senator Robert Kelly
009TRF_John_Benjamin_Hickey_004.jpg

I've pretty much severed ties with my love for Michael Bay. However, the guy who played the uptight government stiff Galloway in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - and the star of the Laura Linney dramedy The Big C - reminded me alot of mutant bigot senator Robert Kelly.

Ted Levine as Bolivar Trask
ted-levine-8126.jpg

Besides looking like Trask, Ted Levine's stint in Silence of the Lambs as Buffalo Bill proved he can play cold villains. Just add intelligence, and he'll be perfect as Trask.

James Spader as Cameron Hodge
James+Spader.jpg

I just caught this off a fancast, and I tend to agree with it. He's replaced Steve Carrell of The Office, and I haven't watched it, but I'm hearing things from the grapevine, and I assume he's playing a narcissistic tool like Carrell did as Michael Scott. If so, then I believe he'd make a solid choice for Cameron Hodge. He could start off as sort of a sidekick to Valerie Cooper and gradually become the foul, nasty villain we all know and hate.

Matthew Settle as Stephen Lang
SGY-00416940085.jpg

Well, it seems like I've been inspired by MK once again. He plays the father of the Humphrey twins on Gossip Girl. And from the look of things, he has the look and personality down of the Sentinel Mk III developer.

I think I'll end it here, because I don't want to spoil too many of my choices. I have more characters to add in my fancast on CBM.com, including X-Force/X-Factor members and humans, so stay tuned!

First off, I'm still fishing for more opinions on my X-Men cast.

Second off, after watching the trailer for Arena, I think I found a good choice for Iron Fist: Kellan Lutz. Fitting timing, since Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 came out and Iron Fist is a selectable character. Charlie Hunnam is a great choice - Green Street Hooligans - but Iron Fist's origins begin at a younger age, so you do the math.

Bishop - Keith Hamilton Cobb (best known as Tyr on Andromeda)

Joel McHale - Deadpool

- Kate Beckinsale would definitely rock the **** out of Domino. I don't recall her being the fan favorite for any role right now. Plus, Charlize Theron would look too much like Aeon Flux if playing Domino.
- I heard someone mention Ketih Cobb, but another guy said he was too old. I dunno. Then again, I'm a supporter of Denzel Washington getting the role.
- Not a bad pick for Deadpool. McHale's been proving some serious acting chops in Community as of late.

Adrien Brody - The Vision
