I think Doom should have an accent. In fact, I am fairly insistent on it. His Latverian heritage is essential to the character, particularly if he is going to FINALLY be a dictator of Latveria and not some stupid American businessman or hacker. I know technically he was Latverian in the Story film, but that was in name only. He was just a flat American character.

I couldn't really care less, BUT it might be too on the nose to race-bend Magneto and Xavier given that the characters' were largely created as Malcolm X / MLK analogues.

I don't think race bending Charles would bother me much, but Magneto would. His history as a Jewish holocaust survivor IS essential to the character. It's entirely why he feels how he feels about mutants. Nerfing that nerfs him.

please dont get me wrong, i understand your pov, but i'm strongly against it.
whenever i speak with someone whose mother language is english, they always act so surprised that i have a good accent.
just because i'm from eastern europe, doesn't mean i speak like a russian terrorist from a 90s action movie.

Doom is supposed to be an extremely well educated individual, so i think he should be able to speak several languages perfectly.

i still think we should hear him speak latverian, they could bring GoT's linguist to come up with a few phrases.

If he doesn't have the accent, for me, it hurts that aspect of "he's one of us!" and distances himself from his people. Also, giving him an accent I think makes the character feel more fresh and not just a standard dictator. Its also something they haven't done yet with Doom.

I would be lying if I didn't say that her saying "I'm Russian" in Avengers did make me say to myself yeah right, LOL! But in Natasha's case, she is a spy and has to blend in. It makes sense. Doom is not a spy. There is less reason for him not to have one.

I think his accent will give him more gravitas and seem more foreign. Julian McMahon and Toby Kebell just sounded terrible as American Dooms. They sounded like commoners. And Doom is no such commoner!

I want a Doom who even talks in the third person occasionally and uses very lofty vocabulary. He shouldn't sound like he was brought up in the US and only discovered he had some Latverian heritage later on. I want him to be over the top and chewing the scenery.

I don't think Doom would even want to get rid of his accent. He would be proud of it, and would think it is beneath him to sound like an American peasant!

All the YES!!! If we're finally getting an MCU Doom, I want them to go all out. Give me EVERYTHING that FOX never would, and I think even on an acting perspective, getting into character is easier if Doom has that accent, has that speech pattern, has that mask, has that GRAVITAS! Doom needs to be DOOM! Not just Actor X in a mask.

If there is one thing the 90s FF show got right, it was Doctor Doom, and he had a German accent going on in that too. Still is the voice of Doom I hear in my head when reading comics.

Again, they were posteriorly slightly mirrored on them, absolutely was not there from the start, not until the late '70s I think.

This idea intrigues me.

But I would need to see him play Wolverine first somehow.

I'm not sure he can bring weight to the role like Jackman.
