The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Ahhh who is mentioning Crispin Glover again? Really, whoever reckons he should be anywhere near these Bat films needs their brains examined.

Of the more left-field choices, I prefer Marion Cotillard for the role.
She's a left field choice?

I realise she's one of the favourites now, but what I meant by 'left-field' is that she's not a traditional choice for a role in a tent-pole franchise since she is a French actress who is so far known for more art-house fare (although I'm sure that will change with Public Enemies). Anyway, I'd definitely be happy to see her cast as Catwoman.

Crispin Glover? Enough already, HE CANT ACT!!!

I wouldn't go that far. He was great opposite Johnny Depp in Deadman, He was great in Rivers Edge, I thought he did very well in films like Back To The Future and Willard. I have seen more evidence that he can act than he can't. And if he is being mentioned for a minor role in a Batman film (Mad Hatter will never be a movie worthy villain), why not?
This role would be similar to that of Mr Zsaz in Batman Begins, who was played by Tim Booth, a man who isn't even an actor, he was a singer with no previous acting experience. So if it is a throw away, cameo role does it matter if the guy is Al Pacino or Daniel Day Lewis? Absolutley not.

I wouldnt like him for a cameo. His presence alone would make the movie seem like a joke. This is the guy that kicked Dave Letterman in the head with high-heels.
Apparently they didnt like that I used the F word.

Didja get an infraction?

And tell me, have you seen Deadman? He actually outshined Johnny Depp, it was truly a great performance. Why does his Letterman contfrontation matter? Christian Bale cursed out his DP for 3 minutes and assaulted his mum, Morgan Freeman was outed for infedelity when he crashed his girlfriends car, my point is what does one personal life have to do with anything?

Personal life shouldn't have anything to do with it. But I still don't fancy Crispin Glover for any role in any Batman movie.

Joaquin Phoenix, Casey Affleck, or Giovanni Ribisi as Black Mask
Theyre good actors and actually fit the bit of what Black MAsk is in the comic

As for JAvier Bardem as Bane...I now see how that can work. As someone said have him play depowered Bane, but when he takes the venom, no CGI just get a huge Mexican wrestler and have Bardem do voiceover

I know and I NEVER care about the personal life. But this guy is completely mental for real.

I'm not too sure about these suggestions for Black Mask. They all seem more suitable candidates for The Riddler. I always saw Black Mask as being portrayed by a more conventional pretty boy since he's effectively the evil mirror-image of Batman/Bruce Wayne (a former rich playboy with parental issues). In that sense, I'd prefer Josh Brolin or even Daniel Craig out of the choices already proffered.

I agree with you there, although it would be a pity to lose the body language Bardem would have projected beneath the suit; still, your suggestion worked with Darth Vader.

Adewale-Akinnuoge Agbage(Mr Eko in Lost; Adibisi in Oz) as Bane. He would be ferocious.

Ian McShane(Al Swearagen in deadwood) as Boss Rupert Thorne. I don't care that he looks nothing like the comics version, I just think he would be great as a corrupt councilman/crime boss who wanted rid of the Batman at all costs.

So If Roman Sionis is supposed to be pretty boy how does Brolin fit that bill. And if he's supposed to be the same age as Bruce how does either Brolin and Craig fit that bill? Craig and Brolin are great actors but neither of them are suited for Black Mask

I've always felt it would be cool to see McShane as one of the mob bosses.

While I support other choices more, Crispin Glover wouldn't be a bad idea. Why don't you think he would do well in a Batman movie?

What about Billy Crudup as Black Mask? He's a good actor and was considered for Batman in these films & was also what Mary Harron who directed American Psycho with Bale had envisioned Patrick Bateman looking like

I like Crudup, I'm not sure about him being Black Mask but maybe some other Batman villain

The problem with casting other villains is in the interpretation. If you tell me that Scarecrow is an above average looking drug dealer, short, with dark hair than sure I'll throw Cillian Murphy's name out there. A far cry from the old school names being bandied around in the late 90's.
I found the azzarello/bermejo novel "Joker" a bit brief and innocuous but I loved the ease they showed with interpreting Croc and Riddler. I'd love a follow-up of Gotham's surrounding under-belly.

Joaquin Phoenix won't go back to acting.

Black Mask and Phantasm for sure.

Maybe Rupert Thorne in the midst.

I love Heath Ledger
He is the best JOKER
But the problem is I want to see another round between BATMAN and THE JOKER
And oh ..... No Robin please
Here is my Villains Cast

I know some people hate Nic Cage, but I think if he put 100% effort in he could pull off a strangely awesome Joker. And if a actor can't put 100% effort in when playing Joker, they can't put 100% effort in playing any character.

I think she is pretty special, at looking good. That's what she is famous for right? Surely not her "singing" ability? :hehe:
