The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

Hmmm...I'm unfamiliar with Bane from the comics (you know, not having read them and all) so all I've seen of him are what I've seen on TV and in the *shudder* movies. So speaking from my ignorance, I will say I think he'd seem stupid in the Nolanverse...unless they got rid of the mask. Sorry, but there's no way that mask is anything but silly. Without the mask though, I think he'd be a good thug.

But I've only really ever seen him as a thug, so sorry, fans of the comics, if I've got that wrong. As for the other villains, here are my current choices:

Riddler: Michael C. Hall
Catwoman: Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron, or Sophia Myles
Harley Quinn: Kristen Bell, Zooey Deschanel, or Isla Fisher
Poison Ivy: Kate Winslet
Mad Hatter (he probably wouldn't happen, but whatever): Guy Pierce
Penguin: Phillip Seymour Hoffman or Brendan Gleeson

I'm a fan of the comics and I don't see him in the "Nolanverse" either. Maybe in a 5th or 6th non Nolan film... Maybe...

 Uh, wait a second....

Guy Pierce as WHAAA?????

Riddler: Tennant if his American accent is good, although now that I think about it the suggestion at IGN of having Michael Emerson (AKA the Goddamn Benamin Linus on LOST) do it would probably do well.

Harley Quinn: Kirsten Bell. If you want to go more "out there", there are several female comedians that could probably get the lunacy down.

Penguin: Phillip Seymour Hoffman. That is all.

Bane: This guy. Whoever he is.

So nobody likes Bob Hoskins as the Penguin anymore?

I knew of him before B&R and he still was never cool.:down

Well then tell me what makes him so uncool, because I don't see it.
He is an intellectual match for Batman (you probably didn't know that if you didn't read the comics) and he is superior to Batman physically. Hands down Batman's most formidable foe (physically) and he has one of the most unique, intricate and original origin and character development of all of Batman rouges.

The only "uncool" thing about him is his look, which obviously wouldn't translate to film if they follow the same Ra's/Scarecrow/Joker formula.

While I like Catwoman, The Riddler and many over villains over Bane, after seeing TDK for the fourth time I can say he would make a better on screen villain in Nolans world than Catwoman, Riddler, Mr Freeze, Clayface, Manbat, ect...

He fits in with the gritty "realism" vision, not the goth/noir fantasy vision of Batman, and characters like Catwoman are better reserved for the next director when this series is ready to return to the goth/noir tone. But for now, I say stick with villains that make sense (in Nolans world), such as Bane, The Ventriloquist, Black Mask, The Joker & Harley Quinn, Ra's Al Ghul, Two Face and The Scarecrow, and The Penguin.
Characters such as The Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, ect... can be taken seriousley but would deviate from the tone of the first two films, therefore should be saved for the 4th intallment and later on, during "The Robin" years...

I completely agree! After The Joker, BANE is the only villain who, done well, could not only update The Joker but challenge Batman. He would also be the only villain to continue the themes of the other films.

I still do, he's my first choice.

I like to see The Riddler been done or The Mad Hatter we never seen him in live-action movie.

Bane's look is incredibly easy to translate. Just move it away from wrestling imagery and towards paramilitary imagery. Black combat clothing and a balaclava would be fine.

Guy Pierce as WHAAA?????
Haha, I probably should have prefaced that with saying if Nolan did actually decide to put Mad Hatter in, I imagine he'd be completely different (at least, from the animated series, which is where I know him from). Darker, obviously. I just think if there were a guy experimenting with mind control in the real world, he'd totally be played by Guy Pierce. Kind of sick, kind of brilliant, VERY arrogant. I just see Pierce, dunno what else to tell ya. :)

So aside from Guy Peirce being a candidate for Batman and Harvey Dent 5 years ago to his more recent name drops for Riddler and a Joker replacement, now he is now being mentioned for...The Mad Hatter?

I've said it before: I get it. Pierce/Nolan=Good stuff, but will you people stop suggesting him for these out of character roles just for the sake of having him in a Chris Nolan movie?

I can see him as Black Mask or Hush, but Riddler/Joker2/Mad Hatter he is NOT.

My casting for Nolan's most usable characters:

Why do people keep pushing for david tennant as the riddler? he's just....a horrible horrible actor.

He is likable as The Doctor, but he doesn't seem to do well in smaller parts, as in the 'Potter movies.

I ask the same question with Kristen Bell for Harley Quinn, except i dont think shes a horrible actress. The problem I have with Kristen is that sh seems to young to be Harley so i dont think she could pull off The pre-doctor harleen Quinzel attitude. Personally ive been pushing for Amy Acker for a whiile now because shes capable of pulling of the Doctor and the crazy psycho villianess.

The Riddler - Greg Ellis II
Rupert Thorne - Philip Seymour Hoffman
The Penguin - Albert Finney
Harvey Bullock - Chris Cooper

dude, she is the same age as ledger was before he died!(actually I think shes 2 yrs older). Thats a horrible excuse.

I actually think, thats kinda a valid point

and you can't really compare her age to Heaths, as he was covered up in to much make up, to even notice his age
(also, for the most part, his age didn't play a factor in the believability of his character)
where, for Quinn, if they introduced her as being, Dr. Quinzel, a trained physiologist (or whatever)
(which, really was always an issue with the character general, but, does become a factor in casting)

I mean, its like Holmes, in BB, the main problem people had with her, was she looked to young to be taken seriously as DA, same kinda thing

just saying
