The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

C'mon.

Well he does have a full beard there. And he doesn't look that much "older". His skin looks a bit more weathered and his bone structure is a bit more profound.

But anyway, I was under the impression Black Mask wears a mask? And with those piercing eyes staring out from underneath said mask I reckon he would be extremely menacing and bad ass.

you know, thinking about it, Gandolfini is really too imposing a guy to be penguin. I mean i think tony sopranos got a pretty good chance against bats in a fist fight, but maybe thats what youre going for?

Gandolfihni is intimidating and menacing, also he just has the look you wont even need that much make up.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman would be a better choice for Hugo Strange or something but not Penguin he doesnt have that look

Yea but thats what he is trying to say, Penguin is never supposed to look intimidating and menacing.

i think in a Nolan interpretation he should be
because like the look of the joker before creepy but not scary (not screaming scary) until Nolan (IMHO)
same with scarecrow kind of creepy but was scary in BB
Penguin wasnt scary before just kind of ugly i think that it would just followed the pattern if he was made more intimidating

well if it was him he couldnt do his whole wise guy "you ****in kiddin me" shtick, itd be distracting as all hell, hed have to speak the king's english like cobblepot, at least retain the refinement if not the stature

agreed. ya he def. would need to learn a different voice

he speaks in a more traditional american fashion if you ever see him in interviews, or more like on that one episode of sopranos where he dreamed he had a different life. he had to learn to speak like tony

Gandolfini would make a pretty good Great White... Heavy prosthetics'd be required, of course.

Yea i really don't like the idea of Penguin being bigger and more imposing than Batman.

I don't have any specific ideas about any actors,
but I do think that because of the success of the Dark Knight and the Oscar buzz,
and just the fact that big timers like Depp and Jolie are rumored to be cast and that no one just laughs that off means that its possible to get some big time actors in there. And that the Batman franchise, and possibly other super franchises will get taken more seriously.

After seeing Quantum of Solace, I thought the idea someone brought up earlier of Mathieu Amalric playing The Riddler was a little bit of a stretch, but I did like Olga Kurylenko a lot. Would she be a good choice for Catwoman in anyone else's minds?

Obviously, I agree that there are more prominent (and probably better) choices out there right now, but I figured I wouldn't mind her after seeing her in QOS.

Just throwing it out there.

This Rachel Wiesz rumor has me intrigued but I find the Catwoman character increasingly mundane. Sure, Batman can have to deal with his emptions about her while dating Selina. I've seen Batman Returns more times than certain family members, I want all unportrayed villains on this third one.

why i mean in the NOlan series i've seen it is that the villains always one up Batman in something

Joker in intimidation
Scarecrow in terror

and Gandolfini and Bale are like the same height plus penguin has always been bigger (weight wise) than Batman

I was thinking to myself, Kiefer Sutherland would make a good villian, do you guys agree ?

Maybe as Deadshot.

Well i think you will be alone on that thought.

A defining characteristic of Penguin is trying to prove himself to people who think he is a joke because of his physical stature. If he was some 6.5ft 250 pound beast then he wouldn't have to prove anything to anyone, he would just knock them out.
