Ben Foster is on my incredibly short list of people I wouldn't mind replacing Heath as The Joker.

Mine too.

I think he excels in these psychotic eccentric characters.

the more i think about it, i think that johnny depp would be a great replacement for heath as the joker, he respected the man in real life and i think that cinema goers and fans of heath's work would also accept him.

(on a side note, depp and bale are in a film together soon, so it will be good to see their chemistry)

I 110% agree. Nobody around here seems to, though, because Heath was a "God incarnate" and was better than every other actor that ever existed.

Honestly, I think The Joker will show up in the next movie, and the likely choice would be Johnny Depp.

You might want to consider the people who suggest Viggo Mortensen for Black Mask then. Viggo is three years older than Haley.

I took makeup into consideration to make him look younger in any scenes before his disfigurement, after that it's pretty much anybody's game. And after watching him as Rorschach in Watchmen, I think he can pull off the jealous, vengeful, disfigured guy with damaged goods behind a mask pretty well.

And if not Black Mask, I'd like to see him in some other role. I'd love to see what he could do under Nolan's direction.

I dunno. I think making him Bruce's age would make him more of a threat and more equal to Batman.

But part of Romans back story is contingent on his friendship with Bruce when they were young.

Black Mask's origin story was established in his first appearance. Roman Sionis was born into one of Gotham City’s elite families, to wealthy and utterly self-absorbed parents, caring more about their social status than their son; moments after his birth, the doctor carelessly dropped him on his head. Roman's parents were less concerned about their son's well-being and more concerned about covering up the entire incident out of fear of how their wealthy friends would react to the news of their son's injury. A second incident occurred when he was a child. While at the Sionis family country estate he was attacked by a rabid raccoon. This incident was also covered up by the Sionis family, who forbid Roman to mention it to anyone.
Further adding to the cauldron was his father's "friendship" with Thomas Wayne; both of Roman's parents disliked the Waynes and were quite vocal about it in private with their son. However, to their son's dismay, they continued to associate with Thomas and Martha Wayne and pretended to be friends with the couple, to the extent of literally forcing him to become friends with their son, Bruce. His parents' hypocrisy had a deep impact on him, and he grew to hate and resent them and the "masks" they wore in public.

I think Cruise can pull of that self absorbed, arrogantly sadistic attitude. Sorta like his role as Lestat in Interview with the Vampire. And because he's wearing a mask it wouldn't really be the "Tom Cruise" show.

The guy is a crazy ******** but I think he is a great actor.
